What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Woke at 2.45 am and gave up and got up at 3.15. BG was 6.7

Had 25g of macadamia nuts but it was creeping up to 7.3 by 4.30. Had breakfast of cheese omelette and mushrooms and it was back down to 6.6 by 6.30am - however it was back up to 7.6 again by 8.30.

It's stayed up all morning due to hassle problems. Nothing apart from a coffee with cream. I was carb hungry so had pate and 1 1/2 Lidl rolls for lunch.

This evening I'm out with a friend at Meadowhall so probably a chicken salad after the curry fiasco last time :-)

You must be exhausted. Will you be able to get a nap this afternoon?

Nothing I'm aware of and I've just posted on the Diet Doctor thread that despite the Sunday meal my BG isn't too different to yesterday. Maybe like that daft photo I posted my liver has had the supply sucked out of it or maybe the answer really is prosecco and 90% Lindt?
I've been checking the Libre movement as well as the finger pricks and it does go up a little but not out with my set range but interestingly it is turning almost immediately and heading downwards. Not getting too excited yet - if I'm still like this in a month I may start to believe DP has left the building.

Sounds like I just have to keep persevering and hope the DP eventually stops.

Better day blood glucose wise. Woke at 6.6, pre-breakfast rise to 7.1 and then down to 4.8 before lunch and 4.8 again before dinner. First time getting two readings under 5 in the same day.

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs, 20g cheese

Lunch - salami, cheese and salad

Dinner - not what I planned as opened a tin of tuna to make tomorrow's lunch, only to remember that we have a work lunch out tomorrow. So tuna mayo with baby spinach, rocket and baby plum tomatoes followed by 2 squares of Lindt 85% and some cream

I think a controlled experiment is called for regarding the Lindt chocolate. I have ordered one bar each of the 70% 85% and 90% for delivery on Friday and will eat them two squares at a time pre-breakfast (except for fasting days) to see if any (or all) of them lower my DP.

Yes, I'm prepared to sacrifice myself in the interests of science. ;)
Full of admiration that you are prepared to so selflessly take one for the team ;)

Lunch ...Ham and mushrooms cooked in butter with half a tub of single cream and grated cheddar
Dinner....Pork loin steaks with broccoli (boiled as normal then put in microwave with butter and grated cheese)
Raspberries and single cream for afters
Snacks if any will be a small packet of pork scratchings

Breakfast 3 large mushrooms baked in oven with a knob of butter and an egg broken into each when almost cooked and put back into oven until egg cooked. Lunch bag of pork scratchings. Dinner 8oz rump steak with broccoli and cauliflower.

Ok following on from the weekly Sunday meal I went to bed on 6.8 FBG was 6.7 and pre breakfast 7.3 but it was already heading downwards. I stuck at 6.4 for a while until 2 squares of lindt 90% once again sent me down to the low 5's
B. Had the last of the sausages to finish so 2 Herta Chicken sausages, 2 chestnut mushrooms and 3 Vittoria tomatoes. 2 rashers crispy bacon and a fried egg.
L. Tassimo morning coffee with cream and 2 square of Lindt 90% Excellence.
D. Leftovers from yesterday 2 small bits of veal , 1 burger and the mushroom sauce with steamed green beans, brussel sprouts and broccoli.
Got a busy week with the boys so hope this keeps up.

Yesterday I managed to keep away from the fridge till dinner which was
Asparagus soup (home made) Coronation chicken, salad and new pots drowning in butter. 3 squares of Lidl 81% Choc, and some almonds later on
FBG after 2 was 6.9 and was 7 this morning. Seems my body wants to start the day in the high 6's to low 7's no matter what I eat/do?

Today breakfast consisted of some chicken breast slices, for lunch i had a 2 egg omelette with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and chicken mixed in and my tea will be a keralan king prawn curry with broccoli. Nervously awaiting Thursday when i see my diabetic nurse for the first time since i was diagnosed, really hoping eating as low carb as poss has helped haha.

I wish you lots of luck. After quite a few years of T2 I'm still nervous when I go to see the DN. My HbA1C was very good but she still found things to moan at me about. I think they are paid to moan at us so don't take it personally. :)

Mine is ok. Still quick to offer more meds but that's because there are more that want the meds rather than make changes. She did say she'd like another 30 like me.
No 2 came out with a cracker in the middle of Marks today. I pointed out a little boy who was dressed up and I said he was either a dinosaur or a dragon. Voice from the trolley " Actually Nana, he's a Triceratops" - he was too.

Mine was wittering on about me needing to eat snacks.... I didn't have the heart to tell her that I have fasted many times over the last couple of years. Oh, and she got a bit upset when she found I'd taken myself off insulin. I didn't realise I needed permission.

Can you tell that I wasn't impressed - and that was her talking to someone who has taken control of their T2 - I can't imagine what she would be like talking to those who don't know how to get it under control (and I don't mean Metformin and the Eatwell plate).

Continuing the saga of Lindt 90% in the interests of scientific research I waited before consuming 2 squares of lindt. Late afternoon my body is usually looking for food and I usually get a slow rise until dinner. I was at 5.4 and had 2 squares of lindt. Just checked and I'm now at 5. This stuff is better than Metformin for me!
