What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Tipetoo, I’ve never heard of cow heel. Is it tasty?
I do not know if i have never eaten it, I think I could have as a kid when meat was on ration.

I remember selling it in the shop I did my apprenticeship at, it used be beside the tripe I hated. The cow heel was white coloured like cooked pig trotters, probably bleached in the same stuff as tripe was.

A quick google brought up various soup recipes for it.

Bit late posting today's meals as "today" is now yesterday.
B coffee with cream
L Bacon Eggs and mushrooms
D Steak and salad at a restaurant in Burnley where I am spending the weekend looking for exciting places to visit - exciting to 11 year old kids that is.
I am not sure how I will get on low carbing today as this is the first time since I started this that I have been away from home. I have brought supplies of cheese etc but one of the places we are hoping to get to is a farm with 30 flavours of Ice Cream so temptation could get the better of me.
I will be back for confession later please be gentle with me.

I was talking with my partner about meat cuts and the differences in names for it around the world.

I mentioned cow heel, as in the fifty years (almost) that we have lived here we have never seen it on sale in Australia. Is it still available in the UK butcher shops, or is it used for glue.

I've never heard of it either for eating or as glue. You can still get pig's trotters and in the Turkish supermarket I occasionally visit they sell chickens feet. Always makes me feel a bit tuck - I used to keep chooks and they weren't fussy about what they walked in.

@Goonergal Is there a recipe for your chocolate almond squares? I looked on CMT but couldn’t find one.
I’m in mourning. Yesterday I found cheese scones, chocolate cake and banana walnut cake in the freezer. I love scones.

I make cheese scones regularly using the recipe on itwondiabeatus.com and they are lovely. Look it up. I am too stupid to know how to post the link!

Several seasons in one today here. Best description of today is evasive action Friday. First alarm came from scales letting me know I may be too frail. 4 dozen eggs, plenty streaky bacon and mushrooms, lots of cream could have made a breakfast available but the idea of them made me heave so lots of TWAM. A year ago I would have had the fried breakfast. By the time of first heavy shower at 1.20 I was, not surprisingly, very hungry. Last 2 Nandos marinaded chicken thighs thank goodness, 2 tsps almond butter, 2 babybels, sheep cheese and smoked cheddar. Dog walk while it was dry then electrolyte drink (EA1) and toasted pine nuts about 6.00. 7.30 Fage 5% and h/m LC choc granola to take Naproxen as earlier menu highly likely to leave my joints unhappy.
Grandson ill so Julie went to mind him and the little Princess. The young man has abdominal migraine - new one on us but not pleasant.
Edit: Also had CWC at lunchtime just to make absolutely sure joints will probably seize up
I hope you don't mind me saying about Grandson's abdominal migraine, but my daughter worked in a call centre where they had impossible targets and expectations for my daughter to deal with customers adequately or even fairly. This caused her stress, and she started getting abdominal migraines. Doctor diagnosed it.
You may know the reason why Grandson is getting them, but if you don't then maybe you could check if something is stressing him badly?

We had a lovely trip to Brigg Garden Centre this morning. I'm kicking myself that I did all my hanging baskets and tubs a month ago because they had some fabulous trailing surfinas in colours that I've never seen before. We then went to Morrison's just to get Mr C a tiger loaf and came out with lots of yellow sticker meat items. @Goonergal you'd have loved it, I got five packs of oxtail at half price, several brisket joints and some flat iron steaks which I love. I love a bargain!

I also got some of Morrison's wonky rhubarb. This wonky rhubarb is no wonkier than the non-wonky rhubarb i got in Asda yesterday but it only cost £1 for quite a big pack. So I got a few packs to cook and freeze.

@dunelm - its on its way :)

Today....

Breakfast: Marks & Spencer Arbroath smoked kippers and scrambled eggs
Lunch: my usual lump of cheese
Dinner: Roast chicken, vegetables, sausagemeat stuffing balls, gravy
Dessert: fresh strawberries
Drinks: BDC, SSW, RW

Black chocolate and coffee with cream.
Eggs and cheese for breakfast about 9am

I fell into a relaxed asleep in the potting shed with cat so lunchtime passed me by.

So, I sort of combined my next two meals at 2:45 pm which was
2 tablespoons cold baked beans (leftovers) with a tablespoon cheese and onion coleslaw thingy (leftovers)
And
Jelly with about 5 tiny cubes pineapple, a handful blueberries heated up for seconds in microwave, with mixed seeds all blitzed, chia seeds, ground almonds, psyllium husk, all topped with double cream.

Drinks are water and tea and black coffee rest of day.

I need to do work in the garden later/early evening so I need a few hours for food to settle before I start.

Another nap, in the warm soporific potting shed, and then I will garden...

It is a peaceful day with clear blue skies and birds flying to and fro feeding their young...

Yesterday:

Greek yogurt with cooked blueberries and cinnamon

Chicken salad with romaine lettuce, rocket, cherry toms, herbs, yellow pepper, olives, jalapenos, a few sunflower seeds and chick peas, celery and chipotle ‘mayo’ (was actually sour cream with chipotle)

Courgetti with salmon, creme fraiche, peas, garlic, lemon juice and basil, sprinkling of chopped mixed nuts on top

Half a pink lady apple (amazing that half an apple is now a sweet treat!)

One cup of tea and one of coffee with a splash of milk. Endless water!

Late starting, and I'll have to catch up later! I've been off to the races since I woke up at 0620 this morning…
2 mile walk then
Bfast took 4:30 to eat. 1/2 avocado, pecans, 3 tbsp batch of #crispie cooked thick (and now I see how this cracker can be buttered or cheesed!), DWGoatM, 1, 2, 3....4! squares 90% chocolate.
Lunch probably seltzer. Have a college graduation party at 2:00 and a neighbor's bday cookout at 4:00.
Supper whatever they have on the grill if it's chicken, or a chicken sausage from home, and ... Windowdorf salad:

Can somebody pleeeeeeeze get rid of the spider? Pleeeeeeze? Who's the sadist out there in admin/mod/software etherland?
Edit for typo

@Bildad get the child serving dish and you might surprise yourself! I did the day after a HbA1c test-- had the chance to get the long-craved super chocolate gelato, and didn't even want it when I saw it!
Awwwww @Viv19 there are surely LC scone recipes!
@gennepher delicious!
@Chook you can always mount mire hangers for the trailing surfinas! ;)
Welcome @Whitmarsh !
Lunch edited to include a batch of #crispie. The Metropolitan Transit Authority sees a need for fiber

Not a good day, today.

Late last night i had two spoons out of a LC GF bowl of granola that Mr B was snaffling.

Ohdearohdearohdear.
The gut cramps hit during the night, and my poor digestive tract... still suffering today.
Didn’t think it was a good idea to eat anything today while everything is still so inflamed. :(

But i do have a chicken carcass in the instant pot making broth for my gentle re-entry to food, tomorrow.

Oh well, another reminder not to stray from the straight and narrow of carnivory (and choc, and profiteroles ;) )

Thank you, thank you!! How delicious.
Chocolate cake is one of the easiest keto/low carb cakes. There's loads of them. One of the most popular is Nigella's chocolate olive oil cake. People on the forum have made it loads of times. One of @Goonergal's favourites. If I remember correctly it is just a case of swapping the sugar for a granulated sweetener.
Diet Doctor's is good too. I've made that as well as the Nigella one.

And a couple of serious, full on chocolate cakes

And these are just the tip of the chocolate iceberg!

That flaming spider is looking at me every time I back out of the thread. @ianpspurs - I'd never heard of abdominal migraine either but having looked it up now poor wee man. Hope he gets over it quickly. @DJC3 & @Goonergal - I too picked up some Montezumas today but it was the black forest one that needs strict portion control. Way too easy to eat. It's been a glorious day here. Out early to get shopping but caught up on washing first and it was great to get it outside and dried. The good behaviour with grandsons continues. No 1 is like a different boy. He had a rough rash on both arms which appears to have been stress related as he informed me the more you smile the more your skin heals an lo and behold it is disappearing! Anyway, food
Friday - boring day. Not a lot of variety. Bed 7.3 FBG 5.6. DP subsiding as well.
No 1 decided he wanted to go swimming after lunch (school half day).
B. TAG with ADOC. Another posh dog, fried egg, GF black pudding and 2 mushrooms.
L. Just water. Went swimming with No 1 once youngest had been returned home.
D. Very late. Had to sit with the boys at theirs for an hour as Dad had a gig and Mum had a couple of new patients. Just had yet another posh dog and veggie chips.
2 squares G&B mint chocolate.
Weather was awful Friday - torrential rain, as I said above today has been glorious.
Bed 6.6 FBG 6.2. Unbelievably son told me the youngest woke early and his brother got a book and read him stories!
B. TAG with ADOC and 2 rollitos.
L. Nothing. Ended up on a trip to recycling with son.
D. Got a deli chicken so had chicken breast with a boiled egg, 1/2 small avocado, shredded lettuce, mini plum tomatoes, coleslaw, cucumber and 1 boiled beetroot. Really enjoyed it.
Couldn't resist- 25g Montezuma black forest chocolate.
