What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@gennepher it sounds like you are having a pretty rotten day, I hope you have a better night’s sleep tonight and a better time of it tomorrow.
Todays food so far:
NE1 Out for breakfast at The Lost Gardens of Helligan in their lovely cafe. Bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and mushrooms. CWC
Had a lovely walk round, sun was out, we baked as we’d dressed for yesterday’s weather which was cold and wet.
Wasn’t indending to have lunch but got peckish around 4 pm so had some brazil nuts and Yarg cheese. It would have probably been better to make that NE2 but Mr C has gone to the pub to watch football and I said we’d eat when he gets in - will be having bass fillets and sauteed Fowey scallops with asparagus and spinach. Maybe choc chia pud afterwards if its set.

A terrible night’s ‘sleep’, finally gave up at 5.30.
Tea - just sometimes I wish I could sweeten it slightly at times like this.
Physio- she nearly killed me!
Coffee and yoghurt w berries
Lunch LC bread with Camembert and cambanzola. Also some squares of Gouda.
Tea and coffee this afternoon.
Dinner. Marinated turkey schnitzel (it was soo good) with cauliflower rice with some almonds and cherry tomatoes cooked in with it.
A glass of red.
Nuts!

I know this careful personality from my parents. My mother had diabetes, which I thought was totally unfair as she was the most moderate person with sweet stuff I’ve ever met. Dad too. One square of chocolate, or 1 chocolate a day from the box, if any happened to be in the house. Never more than 1 or two very modest biscuit(s) with morning coffee. Smallish portions. Learnt in their childhood during the war I imagine. The diabetes genes have a lot to answer for.
I on the other hand .......

Both my parents were children of the depression, so just plain couldn't overeat as kids. But what Mom calls "the addictive personality" ran in her generation. She got food addiction, her sibs not so "fortunate". My bro and I got the food part, sis has nuttin'. When her belt gets tight she cuts out dessert for a few weeks. She baked a blueberry buckle today for the two of them, and for her customary "second breakfast" that she's eaten her whole adult life.
So I went on CMT to find a blueberry anything recipe, and learned, among other things, that fresh squoze lemon juice has hardly any carbs!!! 0.7 per 15ml! Gonna squeeze those limes in my fri(d)g(e) and put the juice in something pronto!

Hi all
Breakfast one high % pork sausage and egg with a few lc crispbreads
Lunch cheese, celery, nuts, a few seeded crispbreads and four squares of 100% choc
Dinner cold leftover roast beef with green salad and a few buttered lc crispbreads followed by my new fave pudding instant soft ice cream made with spoon each of yoghurt and cream with a few frozen raspberries mixed for a few mins just about to Make some decaf coffee.
I seem to be galloping through this batch of lc seeded crispbreads so will need to make more in a day or so. I just love the crunch and texture bit more variety and texture than many lc foods.

Evening all.

@gennepher and @Viv19 hope you both have better nights tonight.

@Chook just as you accidentally bought a table and chairs, so I accidentally ended up in Brighton today.

@DJC3 think I’m going to have to join in the fun and track down one of those cheeses.

Two meals today - not very far apart. Was shooting for OMAD but got very hungry so NE1 of an M&S bag of pork crackling and a stick of cheese just before 3pm.

Dinner a little over 2 hours later was ribeye steak with butter followed by dessert of extra thick Jersey cream with a few chopped Brazil nuts and a few cacao nibs. Oh, and having made pate with the lambs livers, I tried some of that. No thanks. I officially don’t like liver! Smell and taste both waaaay too strong.

Envy, envy, envy.... Brighton is lovely! One of my favourite places to visit when I lived in London.

Thank you.
I wasn’t hungry enough for three meals. ...so food is sporadic today.

I actually set out to visit Wakehurst Gardens but arrived at the nearest rail station (Hayward’s Heath) to find no busses running and taxis charging a fortune, so jumped back on the train and headed to Brighton. It’s a long time since I visited, it is a lovely place. Should go more often.

Thanks Goonergal. My eyes are definitely at half mast.
I have to admit, I’ve never had pork crackling in my life. I mean this stuff that turns up in packets. But everyone is eating it! I’ve had some crispy roasted pork skin once in a blue moon, but never the other.
Goonergal, I really recommend chicken liver pate- it’s mild and very good. With or without brandy, and can be frozen. And that from someone who loathes liver, and hates to actually touch them. I really had to grit my teeth to clean those little devils.
Not sure that the OH actually appreciated the sacrifice.

I’d never eaten pork crackling - in any guise - before going keto. The Awfully Posh is my favourite - just pork rinds and salt as ingredients. I had a failed attempt with chicken livers a few weeks ago, so think I’ll be leaving liver of any description alone for a while.

I love pate especially chicken liver pate but really dislike both pork crackling from a roast and from a packet - tried lots of times but dosent work for me !

I dont like liver, wont have it in the house but OH loves it so cooks it if I am away. Why not try the chicken liver pate in M&S? I am sure it was one of the better ones in this house. I certainly would be too faint hearted to make it!

I’m the same - I enjoy it it it’s made for me but can’t bring myself to actually make it. It’s the liquidising bit which makes me feel a bit queasy.
