Nothing so far but I have a big pan of vegetables stewing on the hob with the last 2 slices of Lorne sausage chopped into it. The stock is a tin of tomatoes. There's enough there for a few meals so my intention is to have some of it for my meal today, on wholemeal toast. The toast I want to try the way some celebrity spoke of his mother making on a TV programme - butter the bread and then "toast" (or maybe fry would be a better word) on a griddle.

The rest I plan to use to stuff some peppers, make huevos rancheros, and maybe an accompaniment for some fish, over the next few days. Since the main cooking will be done, I should find the energy to finish them off into some sort of dish. I'm also planning to try making aubergine chips, @maglil55, with some of the aubergine I have left over. The chips are already cut up and waiting for me to do something with them. Never tried before, so it will be interesting to see the result.

Edited to fix typo.

B: hm yoghurt with seeds and handful fresh home grown raspberries (which seem to have burst into life again for weeks of drought)
L: cheese and ham roll ups around rocket.
Baking afternoon, as usual too many tastes. Lc brownies in freezer, full sugar cake ready to ice for visitors tomorrow.
D: off to a local pub tonight for Spanish tapas night. No idea what the menu will be so have prepared pots of olives, cheese and plain nuts just in case all their offerings involve unentangable carbs

Bit decadent today. Couldn’t be bothered to shower and get ready in time for a hotel breakfast so had Greek yoghurt, cream and raspberries picked up in Lidl yesterday and stored in the in-room fridge.

Meal 2 was at German Doner Kebab - beef gym box with onion and red cabbage. Then decided to pay a visit to Hotel Chocolat, where the assistant decided I needed chocolate whip on top of the 85% hot chocolate as well as on the side! As the whole thing was on the house, couldn’t really object :D

Just out of curiousity, is that place anywhere near Greenwich Park by any chance?

This one is in Birmingham. There are a few in London, but in the centre. Reachable from Greenwich……

Coincidentally, I'll be visiting Birmingham as well... :D

So one way or another it must be possible to squeeze this into my plans. Just what exactly do I need to order, and do you have an estimation of the carbs?

Thursday 25 August - bed 7.2 FBG 7.5. I was running back and forward with DIL then son trying to run down their prescriptions (which may or may not have appeared from the surgery in the last week). This was in between school runs and an Aqua session.

B. TAG and a bit crustless quiche. Simple and quick.

L. Nothing. Rushed back from Aqua and collected grandson for lunch before taking him back to school.

D. Courgetti carbonara and later a DGF chocolate and caramel crunch (definitely addictive).

At least I managed to fit in an Aqua session and a swim today even if it was a rush.

Friday 26 August - bed 6.8 FBG 7. Still playing hunt the prescription but at least son got his inhaler.

B. TAG and the crustless quiche standby.

L. Nothing. After getting boys from school, I had a very lengthy optician appointment. It was a young, newly qualified optician who was being exceeding diligent with me who has a multitude of eye issues. Oddly it's just one eye that needs a prescription change. Delighted to find out that the new eye drops have been doing their stuff and eye pressure are back in normal range.

D. Chicken wings with sour cream dip and I made my leftover courgetti into fritters. I mixed them with 1 beaten egg, parmesan, salt and ground black pepper. Really tasty.
The obligatory DGF chocolate and caramel crunch.

It’s a hot chocolate with whip!

You have lots of choices, starting with large or small - this is large!

Then you pick the strength of chocolate - anything from 100% down to white chocolate. This is 85%.

Then there’s what it’s made with! Standard is skimmed milk. If they have cream they’ll do that but more usually it’s whole milk for me.

Then the whip is 70% cocoa mixed with cream and milk - that bit is optional and free. And I get an extra large portion on account of being a friendly regular.

So carbs will vary - haven’t worked it out very accurately (short answer is too many!) but the information is probably available on line or it could be worked out by understanding portion size. I’ll see if I can find out.

Don't worry about the exact carb count, by the time I'm there everything will be so far from my usual routines that anything resembling an I:C ratio will long have gone out the window, and I didn't have much of a stable ratio to start with anyway. Happy to wing it on this one!
Then the whip is 70% cocoa mixed with cream and milk - that bit is optional and free. And I get an extra large portion on account of being a friendly regular.
I'll just be extra friendly to compensate for not being able to be a regular and see if that does the trick! :D

And to stay on topic:
Have bought cauliflower and broccoli to have with a cheese sauce.
Very early grocery shopping, as the milk went off halfway through my first cup of coffee, never had that happen before! First half was fine, and then suddenly my coffee was full of yucky curdled milk. :lurking:
I also forced myself to prepare very oniony meatballs (it was a large onion and a small package of minced meat, but I love onions so that's fine. :joyful:), but I don't think I'll be up to make cheese sauce, seeing as I had a very late lunch (breakfast) at 4:45.

I think I'll just fry a couple of the meatballs to have on a slice of low carb bread, possibly I'll add some greens but if not, that's fine too.

Tomorrow I'll go visit one of my favourite museums I haven't visited in years, the Zuiderzeemuseum. :)
It's a mostly outdoor museum on the history of the Zuiderzee (currently IJsselmeer) and the towns around it. Last time I was there they sold eel and kippers, smoked on the spot in a traditional way, let's hope they still do that. They also have a historical sweet shop so should I go low I'd better time it well! :hilarious:

And I just found out they have a goat thing tomorrow, so the museum should be filled with goats, which sounds amazing!

All this talk of Hotel Chocolat’s chocolate drinks, I haven’t had one for ages :hungry: Looks like we’ll be descending en mass in Brum!
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and an Aldi protein bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: LC sausage roll, leafy salad, coleslaw and baby tomatoes followed by SF raspberry jelly and cream.

Happy to inform you that it is possible to put 4 very small meatballs on a small slice of low carb bread with butter and mustard.
Definitely not enough food to substitute a main meal so I foresee a generous portion of pork scratchings (bbq flavour) with aioli in the near future, and I tell myself that's perfectly fine. After all, non diabetics have the occasional meal of chips and a kaassoufflé or kroket (Dutch equivalent of fish and chips) too without overly worrying over a missed day of veggies, and besides, my meatballs are at least one third onion. :)

No breakfast, just black coffee
Lunch, more black coffee, rather too much cheese, (is that possible, I wonder?)
Dinner, chicken, with marmitey fried veg ( mushroom, brussels sprouts, yellow pepper, radishes and spring oinions. Sugar free tonic water.

Wow! That is an amazing idea!
And I think it would work wonderfully with tomorrows cauliflower with cheese sauce! :hungry:
I was just using up left over food. The veg I chop up, finely. Melt a teasponful of butter, with a glug of olive oil in frying pan, hot hob, half a teaspoon of Marmite added. When it all melts mix it with spatula, and then flash fry the veg. Tastes a bit like soy sauce, with a kick.

Morning all. I've still got the picture of @Goonergal's hot choc whip in my head. Mmm! It looked so good. As you might guess, I have a sweet tooth. So, back to mundane foods. Coffee with cream for bf. Chicken leg with sweetheart cabbage and broccoli plus cauli mash for lunch and prawns with cream cheese on Crackerbreads for tea. And 2 squares of 72% chocolate with raspberries for a snack. Have a lovely day everyone.

Just had huevos rancheros, using the stewed veg from yesterday. Added a slice of wholemeal bread and butter.

Later I'll have some of the lamb koftas I made a week or so ago. They should have kept well in the freezer. I'll have them with some braised leeks and the aubergine chips that I cut up yesterday.
