On waking: cheese string

Breakfast: bulletproof coffee (this stuff is rocket fuel!)

Lunch: chicken breast, mayo, a stray exante sachet I found in the cupboard. Toffee nut. Nice.

Evening: moussaka, jelly and double cream. BG 5.6 before. 6.7 two hours later. Delighted!

Last thing: cheese string

Curiously, I seem to have adjusted to the incessant cheese stringing. They have become a habit. I barely notice them.

o_O

Any ideas for an alternative with a smidge more nutrition?

Cheese strings are great!

Are they working for you?

Alpro soya yogurt and fresh raspberries

2 poached eggs on one slice toast

Chippy take-away - delicious big haddock (removed half the batter) and peas, stole 2 chips from hubby, one slice bread and butter. (peaked at 7.2 from base of 5.4)

Far too many mugs of tea

Some things that didn't work out so well. Boozy business lunch.

Three large Bacardi and Diet Pepsis over lunch. Lunch was meatballs starter then 7oz steak and salad.

I got a big blood sugar rise despite the alcohol, like the drinks had around 8 to 10 gch each. Who knows. Alcohol and diabetes don't mix well. I guess I will put that one down to experience. Next time I will try vodka instead of rum. Even though I don't like it and get more drunk , it's lower carb.

The other thing that did not work out for me (last night ) was 40g of the Green & Black 70% dark chocolate. The rise time is too fast for my Humalog. I've seen this before. If I have chocolate it needs to be higher cocao %, lower carb % than any of the Green and Black chocolate. Oh well. The Tesco and Sainsbury own brand 74% are fine. I think I like them more than I like G&B now. It's only a treat now so it doesn't matter.

For late dinner a little whole roast chicken on its own. I didn't eat the whole thing. Will have leftovers in the rest of the week.

Spiker how about the G&B 85%?

Today, bacon/mushrooms/tomato for breakfast (run out of eggs); carrot and leek soup at a National Trust place for lunch, fed bread roll to the birds; -avocado vinaigrette, chicken and salad, rhubarb and cream and a glass of red for dinner. Followed Andrew Colvin's advice and went for a brisk 20 minute walk after dinner, preprandial 5.5 went to 5.1 at 2 hours. I'm finding my +2 is lower than preprandial about every other day at the moment.

Breakfast 1 97% gluten free sausage, mushrooms, turkey bacon, tomato
Lunch last of the tandoori chicken with a spoonful hummus and salad
Supper- small portion chilli stuffed into a romano pepper and baled with feta, large green salad and red cabbage slaw
snacks tablespoon of broken brazils and hazelnuts. Possibly some stewed rhubarb and a tablespoon greek yogurt later.

On waking: 1 cheese string

Breakfast: 500ml bulletproof coffee (a moment's reverent silence, please)

Elevenses: 20g mini bar of Moser Roth orange and almond dark chocolate

Lunch: pastrami and cheese with mayo open sandwich on 1 slice Burgen bread:hungry:

Evening: moussaka (only veg of the day! :wideyed: Good job each portion of moussaka has masses of courgette and aubergine in it!:D)

Last thing: 1 cheese string

I had I Chinese takeaway! It's the first bit of naughty food I've had since diagnosed so in the name of science I had to have it in order to test it's impact on me.

Needless to say I'm feeling full up and suddenly sleepy....

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

I crumbled in Costa and had a slice of bakewell tart. It does not seem to have been disastrous, BG 8.3 2 hours later. But I feel bad that I succumbed. I was in the Costa for a very high stress conversation. I guess stress is my weak point.

Carb cravings are awful today! So far have not succumbed but I might have to have an early night to stop eating!!

Breakfast: 125g full fat Greek yogurt with a handful of blueberries and raspberries and seed mix

Lunch: big salad made with Chinese cabbage, cucumber, three cherry tomatoes and a few slices of yellow pepper, 3 slices of ham and 20 g feta cheese, 2 tsp dressing

Snack: home toasted pistachios and almonds

Dinner: homemade tomato soup with 2 crackerbreads (3.5 g carbs each) .

Now just want to eat cake.. . And crisps... And chocolate... Bread.... Pasta....

Hi Skal, you have had a great day so far. Do you bake? I have a hankering for cake this evening as I keep seeing baking threads. I have some almond flour muffins in the freezers which should hit the spot. I have a recipe for a one minute chocolate mug cake if you are desperate lol. Low carb/high fat

Yeah I bake and such, at the moment have only got some ground almonds, but no flax or soy flour. Microwave mug cake sounds good tho, could splodge some double cream on it....

Breakfast: cheesy omelette

Lunch: Greek yogurt mixed with cinnamon, a chopped plum and hazelnuts. Creamy decaf.

Dinner: quorn burgers with cheese, caramelised red onion, leaves and garlic mushrooms

Later?: almond muffin with raspberries and cream
