I'm having the pizza tomorrow. Hope I like it!

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Brie wrapped in salami and melted slightly with salad and my own dressing. Can't believe this is a diet!
Well, diet can also mean the food that you (now :p) habitually eat , as well as meaning a limited selection of food stuff that you may restrict yourself to for a certain period and/or purpose, so think of it as a new lifestyle choice instead. It may well be what you'll eat now for the rest of your life.

Evenin' All

Yesterday:
Green smoothie
Carvery lunch with profiteroles (this may be the first time in my life I regretted eating dessert before I finished it! :woot::eek::wideyed: - too sickly, cheap horrible soft icecream, dreadful chocolate sauce). Only ate half. And felt carb poisoned all evening. Not a repeater. :(
Venison burger and salad late evening. No carbs, of course.

Today:
Egg n bacon brekkie
Thai curry Veg soup and choc 70% for lunch
Roast chicken and sugarsnap peas for supper
May have Easiyo coconut Greek yog later + cream

Post profiteroles carb cravings have been minimal  But my ankles swelled for the first time this year, so not a coincidence, methinks! :meh:

Pineapple? Mmmm. I loved that. Haven't tried it since diagnosis. Another thing to add to the one day. There's so many things I want to see if I can tolerate that I'll probably OD on carbs .

Ethyl - fresh pineapple does absolutely nothing to me. We tend to have it before it gets too sweet, which may be part of the answer, for me anyway.

I used to eat a fresh pineapple over a couple of days. I don't like them too ripe either so maybe will give it a go.

Breakfast Turkey rashers tin of mushrooms
Lunch mushroom omelette and slice ham
Dinner chicken, cauli cheese, broccoli and green beans, gravy ; rhubarb and yogurt and flaxseed

Same old breakfast and lunch.

Was so hungry for my dinner that I started munching it before I took the photo so excuse the teeth marks

Quorn burgers with fried onions, jalapeños, cheese and ketchup on husky bread rolls. Salad leaves with @Debmcgee's amazing salad dressing.

Seriously, Deb's dressing is better than anything you can buy in M&S :hungry: Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I'm sure I may have missed it, but is there a recipe for the husky bread, please?

Brekkie:crust less quiche

Lunch: pork scratchings and a stray exante diet sachet that my friend gave me quite a while ago

Dinner: wedding anniversary -
Starter: warm goats cheese and roast veg with a herby oil artistically dropletted around the plate
Main: 16 oz rare steak bathed in garlic butter with Stilton cream sauce, steamed veg and a side salad
(a moment of reverent silence, please)

I am currently sprawled inelegantly with a magnificently bulging tum, feebly waving my antennae at the ipad and wondering if I will ever need to eat again...

I think eating low carb is the best, tastiest, most enjoyable and frankly marvellous way of eating EVER!!!

Yesterday
Cheese omelette
Pepperami wideboy ( not had one for ages, they still tasty)
Cheese sandwich with pickle
Roast chicken with salad
Some Neapolitan ice cream
( bad food day )

Today
Omelette
Roast chicken and salad (leftovers)
Big doner kebab no pitta, new batch of nut balls though no coconut oil in as ran out yesterday and asda doesn't have, Sainsburys tomorrow.

Only been testing morning and night last few days, my fingers need a rest and should rotate more but I find some fingers better than others.
Pre b/f 6.5
Pre dinner 5.4

On a side note
Whenever I eat nut balls I get a small swelling mainly on my bottom lip in various places, like the start of a cold sore, but then it goes after a few hours / by morning.
Not had a cold sore for about 2 years, nasty things, any ideas why I get this..? Surely not an allergic reaction cos it's only my lip, no biggie just curious

If I eat too many nuts (the Xmas nut binge, for example) I get mouth ulcers.

I just interpret it as nut-overload and dial back on consumption.

Swelling might be a little more serious...
Try googling nut allergy and see what the symptoms are - it is a very slim possibility, but worth checking out, if only to put your mind at rest!

Thanks for advice, I think overload maybe as I'm eating far too many nut balls, will stop for a while, I blame Deb for posting the recipe :)
