What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I have the absolute best family!
I'll be bringing the goat to my cousin and her family on christmas eve, and I'll spend the night there.

Just got a text message from her husband, telling me they'll do a christmas dinner that day, because it's more fun to do that when I'm visiting than on the traditional 25th. :D:hungry:
And if I can please tell him what foods are problematic and what kind of foods go very well, from a diabetic point of view!

Isn't that the sweetest thing!

You have some lovely family, @Antje77.

Probably next Thursday, I'll go to town with Neil and see if I can get a nice piece of fish for my Christmas dinner. Really don't fancy anything else at all.

Tomorrow, I think I shall forget about diabetes and low carb because Inverness airport cafe does some very nice fried fish and chips (actually, not fond of their chips, but the fish is great). By the time we've been to the hospital and back to the airport, we'll both be ready for something to eat.

What a brilliant family you have @Antje77 what a lovely cheering message to receive.
@Annb well done for finishing the cards, I stopped doing them a few years ago and it’s such a relief ( apart from one or 2 older relatives)
Today’s food:
B- 0% Fage with h/m granola
L- seedy crackers and Stilton. Packet of Advent Cheesies. Followed by a couple of bits of the nut chocolate thing straight from the freezer - delicious!
D- Roast chicken, creamed spinach, swede, cauli cheese and green beans in garlic butter topped with chopped walnuts and feta.
That should have been plenty but I’ve just raided the fridge and made ‘lazy mousse’ of melted 100% choc with cream and added nuts. @Goonergal I need to stop the chocolate - it’s getting out of hand, ( again) do you fancy a post Christmas joint abstinence pact?

The last order I put through to them took about 4 days I think. They use Royal Mail 24 but it’s been taking longer than usual at the moment, which would be a concern if it was hot weather but my stuff has arrived in good condition. I just ordered some more cookies and shortbread on Friday :hungry:
Edit to say I really shouldn’t be replying at this time of night, in my reply I was talking about DGF! So Low Carb Food Co usually get the orders through in about 5 days but my last order took longer. I did get an email warning about the delay and they chucked in a Rosemary and sea salt focaccia as an apology!
Thanks for getting back to me - I was hoping they used a courier service - it didn't say on their website - aww naw not Royal Mail so I might not get my order before christmas - I should maybe have held of until 22/12 and ordered from SLC next day after all ...

Three bbq sausages, two egg and cheese omelette, mushrooms for breakfast.
Tub of greek yoghurt, lemon cordial brew for smoko.
Corned brisket, and green veggies for lunch.
Just a tub of jelly for supper at six, I needed something cold in my gut as it felt like it was on fire.

Definitely! That’s my plan - (re)-ditching the dairy then too, so it’s a deal. Funnily enough I had melted choc and cream (no nuts) this evening too. It must be catching :D

Also had the leftovers from yesterday’s pork belly - delicious warmed up in the air fryer and salted. Had eaten the remaining crackling for breakfast.

Have some lamb ribs to get me back on the straight and narrow tomorrow - just about bought the local Morrison’s out of them yesterday.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and an Atkins bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and CarbKilla bar.
Tea at ILs: cold meat, cheese and salad buffet followed by one Jaffa cake!

Seriously Low Carb have introduced low carb Prosecco and low carb Rose Pinot Grigio. I've ordered Prosecco. Not sure it will get gere before Christmas but will let you all know what it's like!

Tuesday 14 December - Bed & FBG both 7 6

What is going on with the mobile app? Keeps freezing/kicking me out! Usually when I've typed up two or three days worth

B. TAG and a slice of SLC toast with coronation chicken.
L. Coconut milk
D. Gammon steak, fried egg, peas. DGF coffee/walnut, blackberries, cream.

Was delighted eldest grandson went to his school party. Didn't stay until the end but he enjoyed most of it. He doesn't like physical games since, as he says, some of his friends can get hurt. I can't really argue with that. It was though, another step forward to getting over his anxiety.

Wednesday 15 December - Bed 7.4 FBG 7.3

Another running about day. All the Christmas cards gone and yet more parcels collected for Hubby to wrap Still not worked out all the Christmas Dinner yet though.

B. TAG and a slice of SLC toast with whipped cheese.
L coconut milk.
D. I really wasn't hungry so I had yet more coconut milk. Later, 3 M&S crackers with mini German sausage and whipped cream.

So glad your grandson is coming along so well and coping with his anxiety. How is his brother doing at the moment?

Em had her Christmas party last Thursday - her teacher had to go to the mainland for a funeral, so they advanced it a day. He had produced some really happy ideas - like a bauble containing messages from every one in the class on what they liked about other class members. Em's messages all indicated that she is fun, friendly, energetic, kind and artistic. Gives them all a nice warm glow.

Goodness! I Hadn’t noticed that, is it low alcohol too?

Considering the time you've posted this, it sounds like it was the 11PM bug, which seems to slow the forum down (almost?) daily starting at 11PM and lasting somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes.

I don't use the app, but it happens if you use the forum through your browser as well.

Right off piste today. Didn't eat anything else after the chicken thigh in the early hours so by the time we got to Inverness DIL and I were both hungry and we both had a bacon roll. DIL enjoyed it, I regretted it due to almost instant indigestion (serves me right). Lunch time I had my fish and chips sadly not as good as before - lots of batter to remove before getting to the fish. Also a few peas and a few chips (better than last time). DIL had a "Christmas dinner" which she didn't enjoy either. Ah well, now we know not to do that again.

Lunch was a SLC roll with a ton of fillings - roast chicken, slice of cheddar, smoked ham and h/m coleslaw. DGF blondie.
@maglil55 thanks for the wine info, that’s light enough to have a couple of glasses without nodding off in the afternoon.
Dinner was slow cooker beef bourguignon, cabbage and a dollop of sour cream. Followed by a couple of frozen choc nut pieces.

Perfect!
I know what I'll make later this week!

Not sure what I'll eat today yet, I've made a cheese sauce to go with some runner beans, the last leftover peas from yesterday, leek and pork belly, but both diabetes and my sensor are acting so ridiculously I don't really want to spend 30 minutes in the kitchen because I'm sure this will result in a hypo unless I eat a couple of winegums beforehand, in which case I'll likely have a hyper.
No idea what's going on, with both diabetes and my sensor going in all directions but not necessarily at the same time.Possibly the remnants of my cold making me go up sharply from everything which would raise me mildly under normal circumstances, and my starting period wanting to make me drop all the time working against eachother in whole new ways or such.

About to give up on my meal (it will still be fine tomorrow, so no wastage in postponing) and just have some cheese and liverwust, with or without a slice of LC bread depending on BG, and dig into my chocolaty nut things a bit heavier than usually before bed.

Forgot to post yesterday's food. Think it was
B: 2 scrambled eggs
Walk
L: 2 pieces lc soda bread with cheese
Cooking afternoon so lots of tasting, but at least freezer full now of lc stuff so I don't get tempted by the full carbs stuff (that's the theory)
D: roast beef, roast celeriac, cauliflower, carrots, gravy. Half scoop icecream

Today
Zoom class
L, bits of ham and cheese, nuts, olives
20 minute stroll
D: a triumph of using up leftovers and stuff found lurking in the freezer. A sort of cottage pie, yesterday's roast beef and caulifower minced together in gravy, topped with cheesy leeks and futher topped with parsnips and celeriac refried to be crispy

Trouble is bg is still resolutely sitting high 7s all day so giving no leeway and going straight into high 9s after eating. :sorry:

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a PE bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a Carb Killa bar
Dinner: beef and herb meatballs with tomato and mascarpone sauce, Brussels and broccoli followed by DGF birthday cake and cream. (No it’s not my birthday, I did a pre Christmas freezer reorganise today and found some from August! Once defrosted it tasted as good as when it was delivered!)

Horrible day today - that's the result of all the energy used (mostly mental - DIL did all the work) yesterday plus being dreadfully stiff after being cramped in that very small seat on the plane. Walking more difficult than usual, groggy despite lots of sleep, nauseous - not much food so far today. Much of it is because I had decided to go to town with Neil today so that I could get myself some fish for my Christmas dinner and he always goes very early so that he doesn't meet up with many others in the shops. So - no time to eat. Just a cup of tea and away.

Brunch: chicken mayo wholemeal sandwich, but it was really too late and I was already feeling poorly.

And after all, there was nothing much in the way of fish that I wanted. The only thing that I might have wanted was fresh tuna - except here, it couldn't possibly be fresh and it didn't really look very fresh either. So I ended up with 2 little skate wings. Might still use them for my Christmas meal.

At present I have 2 gammon steaks in a pan and a salmon tail in the oven - they both had to be used up, so I'm cooking them and will put them in the freezer. Don't think I'll be eating this evening - not unless I can start to feel half decent rather than half dead. Ah well. Tomorrow is another day.

Festive excess continues.

Had 0% Fage, extra thick double cream and raspberries before heading out this morning. Plus one or two 85% Hotel Chocolat batons received in the post from a friend.

Had a decent 7 mile walk across London which involved picking up a picture frame at John Lewis and picking up keto chocolate cakes at Canary Wharf. One of the latter eaten once home, followed by a ‘leftovers’ meal of 4 eggs, 2 chopped chipolatas, 2 chopped rashers of streaky bacon and some onions.

Editing to add a pic stolen from Twitter, which kind of sums up my week
