What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

good afternoon all

was 5.1 this morning

been out in the garden this morning doing some potting up and tidying

We were going to do some strimming, last time we were interrupted by hailstones, but it's still too damp out there so we're going to go do our shopping for dinner tomorrow If it doesn't rain during the afternoon it may have dried up enough by later to do some strimming

My shawl dried out quite well so I'll 'block' a couple of scarves before I put the mat away.
@Bubbsie nice sweater on a cute model

Hope your day is treating you kindly

Thanks Ian and PM I will have to be more careful am going to wear tubular bandages on my arms from now on to protect them I have three plasters holding the flaps of skin in place at the moment.

Good morning @SaskiaKC hope all is good in your world.

Good morning, @PenguinMum . I hope the same for you and your girlcats. How are your eyes today?

FBG 5.8 this morning, and another hairball (not mine! I didn't do it, I was asleep!)

I am looking at a lovely '67 Corvette on the TV as I've got some car auction on Mute while I wait for the Derby. It isn't every day I get to watch racing during breakfast and I'm not only looking forward to seeing a classic but to seeing classy-looking people which I think suits racing much more than the stupid "fashions" at the Kentucky spin-off of THE Derby. Hopefully all the baby horses will come home safe and sound, no complaints lodged, no inquiries posted.

@JohnEGreen here are hugs for you for your poor arm and toe, and for the downsides of your "retreat." OTOH, Congratulations to Judith, and to you, for your newly expanded family. Hmmm ... wonder whatever became of the one Franciscan friar I met more than 30 years ago ... I wonder if he is still on this earth ...

@Debandez the KittenCat turns her nose up at grain-free canned food. What sounds like a great idea to me smells off somehow to her, and unfortunately I can't read the benefits to her (well, I can ... ) I haven't tried grain-free dry food yet, she is happy with her indoor Cat Chow, which is oddly better for her than the senior Cat Chow.

@dogslife I am so sorry to hear about your mum's kidney infection. It seems that hospitals would be the most secure-against-infection places for our parents but so often are where the infections attack, and when they are elderly and infirm the infections just sneak in ... I hope this one will clear up very soon. I also hope you will be able to get some good rest and good nutrition so you can keep your strength up. Thank heaven for visiting relatives!

I'd planned to get up earlier this morning and go for a walk before the heat set in for the day, but I was up wide awake 'til after 2 this morning and as a result slept in 'til the alarms went off at 8:30, waking me from a dream so real I can't remember any of it! The alarms consist of my old flip-phone, which is much more reliable about reminders than my previous stupidphone was, and the KittenCat, who woke me with loud MEOWS and then followed me into the kitchen chivvying (?) me on with MEOOOOOW! MEOOOOW! MOW! MOW!
She is the only cat I have ever heard who barks!

Lovely '67 GTO convertible onscreen now, which is cool because just the other day I was thinking of the GTO of the same vintage that a friend of my sister's had when we were in high school. We rode home in it one night from a church softball game, down an unlit, wooded road of no houses, with the radio blaring Napoleon XIV"s "They're Coming To Take Me Away" while I was all alone in the back seat. Creepy when you're only 14 ...

Amazing

Oh dear. It is difficult when skin is papery thin.
I do have to keep legs in jeans, and long sleeve jumpers to mitigate that kind of damage.
The backs of my chairs are covered with soft fleece throw overs.
Very gentle hugs for you, and Judith as well.
Take care x

Had my eye appointment this afternoon and am now totally confused. The tests I had on Tuesday are not in my file.and were all repeated today - although they also did different photos of the back of the eye than Tuesday did. Eyesight was exactly - or very slightly better than in 2017 whereas on Tuesday the Doctor said eyesight was significantly worse. The optician explained they were a different clinic but used their equipment.

I didn't see a doctor - which I thought I was going to. I flagged up my concerns with the Optician and she said my notes would be going to the doctor. Will bring this up when I go on Monday for the injections. So why do I need the injections if my eyesight hasn't changed. Very confusing - but I was really pleased that I had no deterioration in eyesight from 2017.

I didn't stress and did some meditation which helped.

I love the names of some of these racehorses. Today from Epsom we have Eeh Bah Gum and Oh This Is Us. Two weeks ago at Pimlico we had Dirtyfoot.

And a hilarious race call from not too many years ago:

Every technician/doctor reads/interprets differently, and has a different way of writing their reports.

I had a patient's advocate many years ago to challenge some of these confusing apparent contradictions...the way reports were written on my files. The patient's advocate explained every doctor interpreted differently and wrote their reports differently, and that I wouldn't get at the bottom of it, and I didn't.

Since then (and the patient's advocate advised this), I have asked for a copy of the report of every appointment I have.

Write down your list of concerns/questions in concise bullet form (keep another copy to keep at home), date it etc. Make it short, so that it can be scanned/read in a matter of a moment. You can expand verbally on anything the doctor/specialist asks. And tell them they can keep it.

Hugs x

I have to turn my mobile sideways to see signatures. Oh my yours is impressive! Good job Po. When is your next hba1c?

Hi Debs I think have just had one done at the hospital.... I say think because they are very slow in responding. That said I should also have one done at any time now at my GP surgery.

My consultant saw me a couple of weeks ago when he told me to stop insulin and I had an armful of bloods taken then.
I think I quite shocked him when he saw the numbers he downloaded from my meter.
He said that I was in 'normal' levels... I had, it seemed taken a quatum leap!

I have full access to my medical records; however, I do not think that results from hospital show up there.

Thank you for your continued support btw. and the grand work you are doing in fighting the good fight.

Another great posting! Plus great numbers from the wheel of wonderment and pizzazz.
BOOK? I want a copy of that asap please.

Nice set of readings - exercise invariably increases my blood sugars - I think that my body is just doing what it is meant to do - dump fuel.
Your liver probably woke up before you did - livers are very comedic.
Have a great day if you can.

I will bow down to your deeper understanding of 'stuff' my friend.
you said.... "Your liver probably woke up before you did - livers are very comedic."
Why did my consultant not warn me of this fact?
The duchess said a similar thing actually..." bodies know best" well most of the time.

I am sure I will have great fun and the same too you and yours my friend.

Well I just came in, and after grudgingly showing the pesky meter the light of day, inserting a strip and watching the red stuff being sucked up it retorted with 4.8, happy now?

Yes I replied, no thanks to you! Then promptly replaced it in the receptacle from wench it came. Trying to look all nonchalant.

You were so right old pal. Mind that was a lot of graft. Time for a cup of caffeine with gallons of double cream as a reward.

Thank you - your post is very helpful. I think I will find - like you did - that I won't get to the bottom of it but I will write a concise list of questions and concerns in bullet form and hopefully get some answers.

One of the amazing side effects and benefits of meditation is I find, it is the ultimate time management tool. Things just seem to get done in the most efficient manner and time. Without the need to try and control things…. That also continues and carries on in to all aspects of my daily life.

Well done Krystyna for taking the plunge and ‘doing it’….. I am proud of you!

No TV! Genn, I wish I could break the hold it has over me. They are called television programs for a reason. Most of us are programmed daily, unwittingly from all sorts of sources. The TV being perhaps second only to the interwebby thing and mobile phones!

... "And tell them they can keep it."
What great advice Genn!

I broke that TV hold over me very early 2000's....

I get irritated when I am in someone's house and they have that inane contraption on and no one is watching or looking at it. I ask for it to be turned off. I get looked at as though I committed a cardinal sin.

So then I give them two options...either turn it off or turn on the subtitles/captions on so that I can at least follow what is being said (they know I am deaf).

When I get told they don't like seeing the subtitles so they not turning them on, I then give them two options again. Either they turn subtitles/captions on, so I can at least see/enjoy what they can hear, or I am leaving.

I have walked out on them. BUT, I am usually there at their request, and in my own time, to to show them how to use some craft equipment etc they have ordered off that (QVC?) shopping channel that they cannot figure out. I can work out anything, and have it working...

I like you enjoy posting on this thread because you can chat away to your hearts content

The thing is Debs, poetry is not everyone’s cup of tea and I don’t wish to burden folks here with my doggerel. I do tend to run on like a ten-bob watch as we used to say.

Perhaps I will add one now and again to gauge the response.

I have an app on my phone. Adobe photoshop Express. Free. I only take pics with my mobile but it's great for enhancing.
I don't have a mobile, except for my work phone which is STRICTLY for work. Lots of facts and images etc that are best staying out of the public domain (crime fighting stuff!) I love Adobe Photoshop it is a great piece of kit. A bit of a steep learning curve however. I guess the app is far more hands on.
