Couldn't get to sleep last night. My body felt uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I was frustrated yesterday with hurting my wrist, and I had originally planned on a wee little drive for its own sake yesterday morning. So that was a no no now. It still hurts when I do things with my hand and fingers, but gentle stuff is fine. I am still wearing the wrist support, or else I forget and open a door handle causing pain. So, I am still doing exercises for it.

So because I was awake in the night, I did some painting in the ZenBrush2 app.
And to exercise my hand and fingers further I used just my thumb for this painting. Also I was thinking about @geefull and her beautiful green shaded hills. Can I get an effect like that using just shades of black for clouds, mountains, and foreground?

So this is my attempt at this. Two hours I think, just using thumb. I did try doing my red seal, but I didn't want any red in the picture. So it is not signed as such.

Have a good day.

Edit: I could have made a black signature seal, I think, but I will think about that for my next all black painting in this app.

Good morning everyone from a wonderful azure in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of the ghastly inside of Mr Melton’s or maybe Mr Mowbray’s head and associated green and red stuff came in at 5.3 this am.

Up early this morning - 0500 - for no particular reason that can be brought forth for trial. Still, it’s a pleasant morning so sat on the balcony sipping tea.

Covid toe and skin rash are now seen as indicators of Covid-19 - wonder if they will be added to the growing list:
https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/skin-rash-should-be-considered-fourth-key-symptom-of-covid

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, I am in the queue of one for a cafetière of koffy.

On my tiny Android screen I saw a winged sun @dunelm

Now I am on my larger iPad, I can see it's 3 dragons :)
Simple and effective. I like it.

You sure did! It works very well a good Zen Landscape with lots of depth and foreground detail, well done I like the effect.

Hug for restless and painful night, hope things improve.

Thank you for the compliments and wishes @Muddy Cyclist
It does need more practice, but for a first attempt using shading for a landscape, I am happy with it.

Hi Ianspurs and krystyna
You were in that long pine wood that holds sandhills together? Been there a number of times over the years. It is a very good place for birds....and birders.
I remember the sea being relatively warm when coming in over the gently sloping beach on a warm and sunny day in summer, but that was when our girls were young many moons ago.
There are nesting spoonbills inland from the pines further west and thousands of geese in winter.
regards
Derek
Yes, we were in the pinewoods you remember. I agree that it is a good place for birds. We also have lovely memories of walking through the woods on warm and sunny days and on bitterly cold winter days.

We stayed at the Victoria Inn on the edge of the Holkham estate for our 50th wedding anniversary last year with our youngest daughter and her family. It was lovely seeing the grandchildren enjoying Holkham just as their mum had done all those years ago.

Predictably wet here for the planned 3/4 family trip to N Norfolk coast. (Other 1/4 exiled in Southampton and refuses to be rescued - yet) Libre showed 4.7 initially - mustn't use woke. It makes the fruitcakes in the Telegraph apoplectic. Lovely art, wide ranging culinary and musical skills. Yes, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, I feel very shallow. @Muddy Cyclist hug for the clearance but the films were a good find. Swimming? forecast says not gong above 16c - definitely no nightswimming - that deserves a quiet spot. Ah, the photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago. Toodle pip.

A manageable 6.2 on the meter of mystery and naughtiness.

Well fellow posters, it's slightly damp here, but forecast to brighten up later this morning. So indoor tasks then back in the fresh air later.
I have let my back lawn convert itself into a meadow with a mown path to the end so I can access my top shed and last year Mrs J and myself planted lots of wild flower seeds, but we seem to have had an unsuccessful crop. Never mind, we are seeing lots of birds pecking around in the grass so I am guessing that we have provided a haven for small insects.
I shall throw the blame for the ideas on that idiot box presenter " Monty Don ".
Have a good day.

Better than expected after huge bbq meal last night.
There was no miracle.
So loads to do today. Lovely sunny morning promises to be hot later, so starting with outside first. Trying to finish cutting the hedge. One of the neighbours was vociferous in her disapproval of such activities on a Sunday last night. Making me feel really rebellious and actually want to get the hedge trimmer out. But should probably let the shoulders and elbows have a rest. Currently am using long loppers to cut where I can't reach with trimmer. Oh the joys of a leylandii hedge.
Oh and cat took her tablet mashed up in a tiny bit of moist food. And another tiny bit and another, until it was all gone, when she got a proper meal. Hunger really helped there.

Courgette Pizza Boats
I hate Courgette Krystyna a friend of mine who invited me to lunch several years ago ordered pizzas from Pizza Express...they had arrived by the time I got there & for my benefit had put extra cheese on them great I love cheese (she always complains I don't eat enough veg)...as I bit into a slice I discovered the layer of courgette she had hidden underneath...ewww...been traumatised ever since by the thought of courgette

Morning...a full on day with housework yesterday was exhausted afterwards...more to do today this time upstairs amazed how little I've done with all this time spent at home but came down to a clean tidy house which made me feel the effort was worth it...raining from last night we need it...beasts outside watching me enjoy the peace & quiet while I sip my coffee aghast I haven't immediately got up to let them in...they have a new toy another cat tunnel this time with four tunnels on it...it's brilliant this one folds up and slots into it's case so we can get some sleep the noise it makes as they charge through it is so loud!...more coffee then cats in then upstairs to do battle tidying & de-cluttering...woke to a 6.7...keep safe.

I'd pay to see that MC
You missed a treat, the copious amounts of red wine consumed first did leave me in a 'fog' so my spell check dog becoming fog is probably more accurate.:joyful:

Your Freudian slip is showing, Muddy cyclist! :)

Then again it wasn't a slip and I should read more carefully.

Talking of trees I think the beech makes a real show in spring and autumn.
We have one I planted as a seed c.40 years ago, the pattern on the bark is intricate and interesting.
It inspired me to do a painting some years ago, but is not up to the standard of you guys.
Here is a picture to get idea of the bark pattern.
D.
