Are dogs allowed on parkland? *I need to be back in time for tea (football actually, unless mobile signal is good. Any idea how good it is there?). Oh no, 25 miles to nearest Waitrose and nearest Starbuk's in King's Lynn 45kms.:angelic:
Googled that.
Definitely dog friendly. I think about 3,000 acres of parkland. I like the parkland but Mr K prefers the walk to Wells along the path that runs next to the pinewood that skirts the beach. Although that might have something to do with the fish and chips at Wells. Then we usually walk back along the beach and sand dunes. I must admit I do like that walk.

Thanks for that. We know the fish and chip shop in Wells and used it in my previous existence - another example of Mr K's excellent taste . I like that area but also feel the need to become familiar with my new part of the world. I'm struggling to find any real love for it atm, except Newmarket. Once things settle I like Bury St Edmunds.

Had the most amazing dinner. We found a recipe on the Sainsbury's website. Courgette Pizza Boats. It was truly amazing - so tasty and fairly low carb. We will definitely make it again. Although I say we - Mr K is head chef and would not let me anywhere near the kitchen.

A long day emptying MILs life from her bungalow, camper van now full of memories to be sorted, stored, thrown away and forgotten for ever, how fragile and meaningless our collection of items can become. On the positive Daughter would like much of MILs furniture, antique but not valuable, crockery and more so remains in the family. MIL loved Willow Pattern and collected some very old pieces but also all the dinner sets are also Willow Pattern, so I decided this evening to do some art based on this, BUT failed miserably, too tired. However I dropped my brush and the resulting splodge is what I offer with a few tweaks, reminded me of some flower, not sure which and so sorry but that is my art for today...

The tweaks are the blue colour the rest is result of dropped brush. Who needs to be artistic just throw some brushes about. :joyful:

When I had my modified off road Nissan Patrol I had a CB, yes sad but I needed it when entering competitions. However it was one of the most useful tools for traffic conditions when travelling up and down motorways, A 10. 13 call in the direction you were going got me out of many traffic hold up. My handle was Swampy, given to me as I had managed to get seriously bogged down in an Irish Peat Bog, 4 tons of vehicle does not float across Irish Peat.

Nice some of it is staying in family.

Was in same boat when dad passed.

All packed away, it does leave one with a sad, empty feeling.

And as you say a lifetime of material goods mounts to.little in the end

It's the memories, tears and laughter that has real value.

And I'm sure you all have a shed load and more of those to cherish.

Hi Ianspurs and krystyna
You were in that long pine wood that holds sandhills together? Been there a number of times over the years. It is a very good place for birds....and birders.
I remember the sea being relatively warm when coming in over the gently sloping beach on a warm and sunny day in summer, but that was when our girls were young many moons ago.
There are nesting spoonbills inland from the pines further west and thousands of geese in winter.
regards
Derek

good evening all :)

4.7 this morning

a sunny, showery, breezy day here and we managed to get our strimmed stuff raked up and bunged into trugs to take to Mum's for disposal tomorrow.

Tried making genuine egg custard this afternoon, and it took forever :hilarious: needed a bit of zen.

I was planning gooseberry fool but the neighbours to whom we gifted some blackcurrants left a punnet of their freshly picked strawberries on the doorstep :D
Now the custard has been mixed with double cream and some gelatine and poured into heart shaped moulds and is in the fridge chilling ready for tomorrow's lunch, should go well with the strawberries.

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@gennepher - ouchy!!! hope it settles down quickly and isn't too badly strained :sorry:
but you have managed such a lovely plum tree/blossom painting despite being in pain.

@dunelm - very effective foliage with your chrysanthemum :) what does your 'chop' say?

@Muddy Cyclist - hugs to you and mrs MC, rest when and where you can, it's a difficult double whammy of physical and emotional work.
Must say though that even your brush splotches are fine and artistic :)

arty bit -

read somewhere about using cling film to add texture to things, so this is me starting to try it, didn't work quite the way I expected but it did add something to the foreground that I like :)

Thank you for your kind comment on my splodge. :)

Today watercolour from yourself is just amazing, that light and depth you have managed to create is very special and your signature method of putting folds and detail into very distant hills, brilliant. Cling film seems to have given an interesting effect in the foreground, I must try it.

Always good when family members can choose some keepsakes. Interesting what some people hold dear.
Interesting painting, I like.

Good painting showing light and depth. I like how you reflected the sky and the interesting foreground.
The chop - well, the hanzi are there to find interpretations :angelic::) - I think that they are called hanzi - could be footsie with my poor calligraphy.

Thank you very much @geefull

Another splendid painting. I always adore your green hills. I would love to be able to create hills/mountains like that, with that kind of shading.

I like your experiment with the clingfilm. It was successful. My attempts in the past with clingfilm always looked liked I had used clingfilm, but was still good for cold frosty icy pictures in watercolour and acrylics.

Good morning everyone from a wonderful azure in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of the ghastly inside of Mr Melton’s or maybe Mr Mowbray’s head and associated green and red stuff came in at 5.3 this am.

Up early this morning - 0500 - for no particular reason that can be brought forth for trial. Still, it’s a pleasant morning so sat on the balcony sipping tea.

Covid toe and skin rash are now seen as indicators of Covid-19 - wonder if they will be added to the growing list:
https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/skin-rash-should-be-considered-fourth-key-symptom-of-covid

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, I am in the queue of one for a cafetière of koffy.

Good morning and 6 for me today.

Sunny and bright here no Muddy Bike ride as I ache after yesterday at MILs. More sorting today of the stuff in the camper van.

According to our illustrious PM we have nothing to fear all back to normal by Christmas. Still our winter months are going to keep us busy as we found two old reel to reel film players with 100s of reels of film at MILs, we had no idea they had these or what is on them, obviously Mrs MCs dad had taken lots of footage as we found the cameras that took these films. So dark winter nights look like being very entertaining and enlightening.

Grab your day by it's tail and let it take you where it will. Keep safe.
