What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a red and yellow streaked morning in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of left over chicken with chorizo and peppers came in at a spiced up 5.1 this am

Babysitting duties yesterday - feeding the ducks, down the blustery promenade, playing with toys, singing nursery rhymes. One of my sister in law’s who works in a GP surgery tested positive for Covid-19 so is now in splendid isolation - everyone else trying to figure out the last time that they had contact with her.

@jjraak - not good and you really do need to persevere - big hugs to you both and hope it goes well. I use the Covid-19 symptoms study app and can legitimately get tested whenever I like. https://covid.joinzoe.com/ Here is some of the blurb for participants who go online to book a test:
You will be asked to confirm you are an essential worker as part of the booking process. We have agreed with DHSC that you can access testing for the purposes of this research, so please select ‘I have coronavirus symptoms (I'm an essential worker)’ when you reach the relevant screen. Please, indicate in the next screen whether or not you have one of the coronavirus symptoms listed in there. Please note: this permission only applies to you as the study participant and to any other app users who live in the same household with you. You must not encourage other members of your family or friends, except those in your household, to access a test unless they have also been invited as a study participant or a symptomatic essential worker, and therefore already qualify.

@gennepher - another spooky looking sky up through the trees - love the Jenny Joseph colour scheme.

Went a bit nuts with colour yesterday - several hairdryer moments - oh well. Really do need my morning koffy. Hope everyone has a good day.

I belong to that Covid-Zoe study app, mainly so I could get tested if needed. Because Wales months ago had a scarcity of tests.

Thank you for the painting compliment.

I absolutely love you going nuts with colour (as you said yesterday). I really like this bright vibrant colour. Amazing!

I was going to comment on the cycling tights but decided that the less said the better
Absolutely!

Actually in the interest of decency I do wear shorts over my tights. Two of my pet hates are older men in Cycling Lycra and those who wear those ridiculously baggy short shorts. Can't say I feel the same way about Lycra clad ladies, whoops not very PC. :)

6.40am FBG 5.6
BG i probably rising by the second now though. Have been hunting for my passport for about an hour now.
Supposed to be Sailing 25th

Found it, in a folder with otber papers, including my international driving license. Ofc everything has been moved. Somethings have been moved several times.
Feeling loads better now.
Next hurdle imminent, cat to vets, in a few mins time. Will he be passed fit to travel?

New vet is young, with a good comnand of English and handles Cat gently. Cat makes no objection. Vet said Cat appears healthy. Gave Cat his tablet, then signed and stamped his passport. PHEW.
Did anyone notice the profesional disclaimer?
Cat appears healthy. Lol.

Cut short, I must be getting soft, after 5 miles it turned cold and wet and so ran for home.

Enjoy the heady mix of workmen, grandchildren and dogs, chaos could easily reign. :)
Yesterday was the chaos day - big step forward though. Workmen upstairs and down. Dogs turfed out of their living quarters and 2 granddaughters here all day. Girls are safely at pre-school all day today - dogs being gelded.. However, the wall we removed is now plastered, hanging sockets neatly fitted, skirting and flooring in. Bathroom mostly finished so just the downstairs cloakroom and painting left for the chap doing those jobs. Then just coordinating sons clearing and moving MIL with moving our furniture into the fit for purpose room rather than the original misguided idea of what constituted suitable living or dining room and enough equipment for a modern kitchen. Had I known so many walls could easily, cheaply and safely be removed I would have taken down many more. A structural surveyor would have been good but too expensive for this project. A garage from 1990s is as useful as a pushbike for a goldfish to modern vehicles - decent gym though. This isn't a small house, 4 bed detached, but our furniture suited much larger rooms. I agree with Mrs M C, common sense prevailed.

Hi all,
Slight improvement in daughter this am, got up for some breakfast but returned to bed, still has a temp but no cough or change in taste/smell.
Hoping the improvement continues and Covid is in a milder form. Fortunately has no metabolic issues other than a nasty syndrome some years ago that was serious.

Very wet morning here in the distant North and temperatures not at all balmy. Trees have mainly lost their leaves due to the strong winds and the garden has piles of wet leaves on wet grass.
Not a good day to give the garden a hair cut.

I cannot repeat what I thought to the comments on the destruction of ancient woodlands in the construction of HS2 and how they are translocating the ecosystems to another site, including the leaf litter.
So they have discovered a world beating way to translocate ancient woodlands that have been growing, perhaps for at least 500 to 1000 years?
What utter mature male bovine excreta!

You are right of course but their "base" will dismiss any naysayers as wokism gone mad. Viewing everything through the prism of leave v remain has rendered discussion impossible. What can't be cured must be endured. Stab in the back from panicky red wallers and never Johnsoners is the best hope for a reset. LMF means that won't happen

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
Late again.

A 5.9 this morning on the meter of mystery and naughtiness.

Well fellow posters and painters I have spent a large part of this morning on my knees sanding the kitchen floor under the helpful supervision of Mrs J, who as a special treat will allow me to accompany her while she collects the click and collect shopping, but what makes it all worth while is I will be taken to Screw fix where I will be like a little boy in a toy shop.

I actually should have posted in mine that I managed to do my broken down C25K session on the tready today and did not mess up like I did on Wednesday on the spinbike!
Literally was reciting like a mantra to myself “run to x min/sec, walk to y min/sec” over and over. All of which has persuaded me that I am glad I don’t risk my cartilage-less knees out on the open road and do this in the privacy of own home as I am sure I would have been committed by the end of that run!!

Dogs are back from gelding - oddly very quiet:angelic: Just to say re yesterday: the bathroom guy worked upstairs, windows and front door open - he entered and exited there; floor etc work on other side of house downstairs, door and windows open and exited exclusively via kitchen door and side of house. We were all safely shut away in a separate room - door tightly shut. No idea if that is secure enough but the new area will have better ventilation and be more covid friendly. 1 room entire length of house with windows either end. That is where we will spend most of our time. Should have been finished before lockdown 1.

Thank you @gennepher. I don’t suppose that I will be repeating the exercise too often - although that is just today’s thoughts on the matter

Based on what I felt needed to be done here I can see that modern housing is a nightmare for COVID control for people without resources. The brand new house we would have bought, had not my spells in hospital last year lost it, was much better designed - albeit £80k more expensive. I can see where inequality impacts people's ability to manage covid risks and why home seems to be the place it spreads most.

I can remember some years ago looking at a new build house the front room or lounge if you care to call it that was so cramped that you could almost touch both long walls with the finger tips of both outstretched arms literately not enough room to swing a cat by the tail if you were so inclined I hasten to add that would never be an inclination I would ever have.

I am feeling a bit stressed out at the moment as Nottingham is moving to tier three next Wednesday it seems and I have an appointment at QMC for yearly scan and X-ray on Tuesday this is worrying me as at the moment they have about 200 patients with covid 19 16 of them critical and about a ward full of people being admitted each day I do not really want to go but this is a second appointment after wheedling out of one this month already I am unsure of what I should do.

Hopefully they may cancel it if I'm lucky.

If not I may have to change my name to Daniel.

Hug for the stress and wisdom of Solomon needed over the appointment. I was apprehensive about an appointment at the Addenbrookes/Royal Papworth complex - quite invasive - but it went smoothly. I pray yours goes well.
