What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.5 yesterday
6.0 today which I expected. Taking a break in the sunshine from a list of jobs as long as my arm turned into a very productive day....for the pubs! Yes, one 'oh come on let's just have a quick one in the sunshine' turned into a pub crawl. We ended up taking the car home in fact and continuing on foot! The sun was out in all its glory, all day and late into the evening. A mans got to do what a mans got to do. And so as not to be sexist, so has a woman so I was following close behind hubby, to the bar! It was tough but someone had to do it.

Today I'm visiting a friend who I used to work with many years ago. She hasn't been too well. Coffee and a catch up. It's a 30 minute drive but gorgeous scenery. Music will be played full volume (well, loud anyway). Then this afternoon it's more wallpaper stripping at my sons house. Said I would help, appear now to be lumbered with more than I bargained for! Plasterers will be coming to skim next week so needs to be finished soon.

Enjoy your days everyone.

This is a very helpful post.
I initially clicked on the winner icon, and then I changed it to informative icon. But I would like to have registered both!

I think it's great that you have shared your journey. It really is very helpful. Its not always so cut and dried and good to see both sides of the coin.

So basically after the initial positive wright loss and welcome low bg readings, you now prefer to avoid eating if you can?
Why do you choose to take Metformin if you don’t actually need it?
That’s not a non success story Ianpspurs. Look what you’ve achieved in reducing your levels to a non diabetic range. Retinopathy is ok now too. You’re amazing- you just have to realise that.

@Debandez yes you’re welcome to join me, just no talking please!
@ DJC3 I missed about your scan, but good luck with it. Will you have extra London time or go straight home?

Thanks. Scan is on Thurs, we’re driving up today and will stay a week with my middle daughter, them back to Cornwall next Monday, all being well.
I loved the photo of your new chum, very handsome. I hope you can manage something with your shoe to make walking a bit easier, have you shown it to a doc yet? Shame for OH to have all the fun, but enjoy your relaxing day.

That’s lovely, quality daughter time! Enjoy yourself.
OH was cutting the grass so I’m up on the top balcony in a very comfortable ancient pappasan chair. There’s more cloud than forecast but temps are good.
It’s a tough life.

@ianpspurs good to write it all down and any newbie would be impressed and encouraged by your story. I think you are a perfectionist and LCHF isnt perfect otherwise we wouldnt all come on here whingeing on a regular basis. Be proud of maintaining non D status for this long and I hope you can enjoy at least some things you like to eat. Best wishes Ian.

@Bubbsie It would make my day to be stopped at lights next to you and see Plumpy staring in at me. I bet he raises a lot of smiles.
Many thanks to all who have sent good wishes for Thurs - I’m sure Ill go in about it a lot more before then and maybe afterwards so thanks for your patience!
@PenguinMum yes - daughter Wed ( at GP surgery down the road from her in Greater London) and Me Thurs.
@Freema good luck with your mega task packing your life up.
@Viv19 what a lovely view!
@ianpspurs I found your post both interesting and helpful but would certainly not call it a ‘non success story’. Physically and medically you are a success, it seems to me you just need to address your mental attitude to food. Could you maybe look for some outside help there?

Crossing all fingers for your scans on Wednesday and Thursday. Hoping for the best possible results for you both. Hugs.
Re the view. When we have a föhn, the weather becomes quite warm even in winter, and we can see the Alps so clearly that you feel you could almost touch them. They’re in fact about 250 kms away.

So @ianpspurs ... to summarise.
Diagnosed in 2015
Expected serious complications at some point.
Discovered LCHF...Lost serious weight.
4 years on, fit, healthy and active.
No complications. & HBA1c in the mid 30's.

Sounds like a winning formula to me
When you consider a few of the alternatives, my friend.

You are a star.

Who knows why ....

Enjoying my food, but when shopping yesterday realised I've not had an avocado in ages... Along with a few other dishes from my early days as Type 2.

Time to recheck my diet and takes some of it back to basics...I recognise it's a getting very 'samey'.

In that vein, Surprise on holiday, was we had moussaka..
( Last day blow out, gorgeous restaurant, 5 star service....mmhh yum yum. Take me back, please..)

Not a dish I really enjoyed before DX, and one I avoided after..
but spotted one in Tesco that promises 4g per 100.... So going to treat myself to that tonight, and check religiously after...
Here's hoping it's all good in da hood..

Best wishes @DJC3 for Thursday

Just thinking on, re @ianpspurs LCHF update post.

I do wonder, if as much as we aren't supposed to be so high in our blood sugar levels, due to complications, that there maybe danger, in trying to drive ourselves too low as well, as that way may lie other perils.
Perhaps staying inside the normal range, offers a happy medium.?

Here's hoping that both scans go very well -- hoping also for peace and calm now, during, and after for you and your daughter.

Good idea.

@Viv19 what a beauty!
