What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

He reminds me of my old Labrador Saffy. Whenever I went away on a course she would refuse to greet me when I got back home and turn her back on me. This would last at least a couple of days.

Then I read a book written by a scientist who did some research on the telepathic connection between dogs and their owners.

I tried it out and would imagine she was with me on my trips. It was so weird. If I imagined her with me she greeted me with great joy. If I didn't she would turn her back on me.
Fascinating idea.

Our belles (very affectionate cat) would ignore us for a few days once back whenever we went away.

Much less vocal and hid herself away much more for about a week.

Would have liked to try that telepathy trick to see if it worked.

So nice to hear it worked for Saffy.

Edit: @jjraak I like that version of the song better than the New Radicals. Sounds like something that would go down well in Ridley's club after a few single malts. Thanks.
Not sure of ridleys reference, Ian , if I'm honest .

But fully agree, the song suits that slower pace (or at least it does when I need chilling out, not pumping up to get me moving )

Music:
More then just a song.

It's either part of the memory OR it encapsulates it, for easy retrieval when we hear some songs
(Ain't our memories great )

I personally think we all have a soundtrack to our lives.

You know, those compilation hits from the days of vinyl "the best of the 80's" type thing.

A post I started sharing on such music had a little traction early on.

Might be interest to those like a bit of music ?

Tremendous variety, but I found some particularly likeable ones in there.

*Odd, I have a habit of responding to every post, polite if someone's taken the time to fill & share a post..looks like some 'likes' have been removed ..mmmh

Annb, have you thought of fingerless gloves? The 'finger' part reaches to the second knuckle, and leaves your fingertips free for typing and fiddly work.
I actually used to knit brightly coloured and patterned, fingerless gloves, first for the boys and then for charity. Haven't done so in years though. Working with the keyboard has warmed my fingertips up though but I'll have to think about remembering how to make them.

Hi @Outlier

Good idea for @Annb

My hands starting to hurt with the colder weather, thanks for the reminder.

Must get some for myself too.

How are you today ?

Went to Freeman hospital at Newcastle but there is still power in my pace maker so they will check the battery again late January.

Was at Carlisle hospital Tues and saw the colo-rectal surgeon. Mr Salem, what a nice guy. He feels I have too many things wrong to have a camera up so will do it with a CT scan and contrast medium plus a small public enema No2.
D
Good to hear the power packs working fine .

Sorry but pleased to hear safety was paramount, and alternatives suggested ...hope all goes well

Btw, I admit to reading last line & suspecting it's a typo, but I searched anyway.

Results were not what I expected. :wideyed:

Is it a typo or am I just missing a 'joke' I should be aware of ...<red face >

Afternoon from what feels like the inside of the Wizard of Oz tinman.

Achey achey all over after yesterday's gym induction
Only 10/12 reps on machines at lowish weight, to get me started.

But an enjoyable time, good to be back if limited

Skipped dinner last night...but snacked late (famished )
So back into the Bonds with a 007.4....ho hum

Cold here in the capital.

Have the furry nephew today, so might take him somewhere nicer then the local doggie park
See how big my world's now got.:)

We shall see what the day brings.

Good day to you all.
(Tips hat & strolls on )

Good morning everyone on a most pleasant start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. There are stretching exercises to do in a while but they are in a queue - it’s all very British. Week one of the back pain course went well and we resume on Monday. Girl in the bubble here this morning so it’s cafe culture at it’s best. Art bit - colour added so best think about what to do next. Have a fabulous Friday if you can, remember to pace yourself. I shall begin with a koffy.

Amazing finish!
Have a good day @dunelm

Ridley info here. Dunbar is quite the singer. Good news on gym return but gently does it after such a long lay off. Slightly on thread topic my bg, serum blood glucose, at 13.00 yesterday was 4.2 so ok I guess.

Good morning all on Super Salmon Salad Day here on the peculiar envelope at the edge of the larder of England within the Exotic East. Obviously cooler in the mornings but Hive still shows living room temperature >19.5 with no heating used and 21/22 by evening. @dunelm I guess this is playing on loop - the cafe should keep TGIB satisfied. The latest art is truly wonderful. Thank you so much. @gennepher such a shame Midnight and Foxy Loxy can’t become friends but never say never. Thanks for the creative. (Song Lyrics here) @Annb gentle hug for the bg roller coaster, cold and pain now topped with a cough. Whilst it is a blessing to be part of the lives of grandchildren they are an obvious source of ailments. Take care and stay as warm as possible. @lindisfel I hope the scan goes well and there is a useful outcome. @Krystyna23040 good news on Mr K feeling better. I agree we all have preferred patterns of IF but our eating window seems about the same. LC food is by and large such a turn off now or I would probably eat earlier. My body seems to prefer some cardio then something like CWC first thing but the cardio is limited to maybe 3k steps just now. My favourite UK option is exercise bike, shower, morning worship, CWC. Depending on the results of treatment I hope to revert to that. Have as good a day as you can.
Thanks @ianpspurs
I can only assume Midnight has had a bad experience with an animal like a fox or badger...

How are you today ?
Thanks for asking - have done a minimum of housework, prepared tonight's dinner (roast chicken with cauliflower, broccoli spears and sprouts) eaten an avocado, haven't tested bloods as had a lousy night and why annoy myself more? and happy to come here and feel I am among friends.

And reply for @Krystyna23040 as well.

I sat with Midnight before I went out. Knew I would be gone a few hours.
I spoke the words that it was some important paperwork I had to sort. Visualised the two different places, which were 20 miles apart, while I sat talking with him. Just a couple of minutes I spent. And then I visualised coming back to him while I sat on the swing with him. Because I had a different route I had never driven before, I knew I would forget all about him the moment I got in the car driving this different route.

I was gone just over 4 hours to sort this paperwork. They needed to see these documents, and my iPad had decided their sites were not secure enough for me to send the files through. You bet I had something to say about all that when I got there...

And guess who came running to greet me when I got back, and doing the slow eye blink (which he has refused to do these last two days).

Now you can call that a coincidence or what you will. But. I will do that talking and visualising next time I know I am going to be absent a few hours/day.

I am absolutely shattered, and sleeping in bed now, and Midnight is sleeping with me...

This is a friendly place @Outlier

Very cold this morning. Both the weather and me. Alistair had a bad cold a couple of weeks ago but I managed to stay clear of it but Em caught it from him and was here yesterday after school with a really bad, chesty cough. Today, I've got it. Makes already problematic breathing even worse. Also have ringing in mhy ears. That happens occasionally and I usually assume that it is due to high blood pressure, but I was feeling so poorly this morning that I actually checked my BP and it was, for me, not bad. Maybe something to do with lack of oxygen.

Anyway, BG is being a bit strange. Last night BG was 5.5 and dropping so I figured I'd have to have something to stop the drop. For some reason I decided on a couple of squares of milk chocolate from the baking stash. Yuk! Bed just after 10pm - very tired. Awake at 1.45am. Got up for a while (painkillers, tea). BG 14.9. Back to bed until 6.0am. BG 13.4. More painkillers (twice within 4 and a bit hours is not good). More tea at 7.30am. BG 12.5 and falling. This is contrary to the way things have been going recently - probably the cold.

I set the heating thermostat at 14 to make sure it doesn't kick in until it gets pretty cold inside the house. It has kicked in this morning and I am sitting at my desk beside a little convection heater to get some extra heat in the kitchen and wearing a jumper and a heavy, knitted poncho over the top. Could do with wearing gloves as well, but I can't type in gloves. Did I say it is very cold this morning? I might have some tomato soup for breakfast to warm me up.
Hi @Annb, sorry to read that you are not having such a good time of it. Latest of the social media tips for squeezing out drops of heat: put a wire grill in the bottom of the oven and place four bricks on top (bricks, not stones). When you use the oven, they will heat up. Once your oven is turned off, leave the oven door open and they will discharge heat like an old storage radiator. We have two bricks on little grills on either side of the chimney on our wood burner as well as one of those windmill things - seems to work. Note: the wire grill is to prevent contact with oven and prevent water bubbles forming.

I must admit I was very sceptical and was stunned when it worked.

That is brilliant. Great to hear that Midnight is happy. Hope you feel relaxed and rejuvenated when you wake up.
