What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I have found that every time my BG goes very high (above 16) I start to feel as though a hypo is on its way and, of course, when I test I realise it is high not low. With the very high levels of the last few days (topped out at 21.9), I have been feeling that often. For me, it's a bit easier to deal with because I am on insulin so I just take a dose (pretty large) to bring it down. As far as I am aware, there is no food that will help in my situation. I've had a reasonable amount of fatty foods the last few days but these are the days when my BG has been exceptionably high. Not necessarily food related, of course.
Thank you@Annb for your response to my post. I'm sorry that you are experiencing high blood sugar levels but I have to admit it is somehow reassuring to hear from someone who shares a similar experience. I have just tested 2 hours after eating a low carb meal followed by my increased medication of 2x Gliclizide+ 2 metformin and it was 17.3. My levels have been higher than they should be for some time and can't understand why. Best wishes. :)

I'm pretty sure that my very high levels recently are due to having a cold. Being under the weather in some way usually does adversely affect my BG levels. Any ill-health can do that, and it seems that Covid has been pretty bad for that. So it might not be food at all.

I am sure you are right. My levels have been even higher than usual during Covid 4 weeks ago and the after effects since. My HbA1c later this month is going to be interesting!

Thank you@ianpspurs. I always enjoy salmon. I haven't tested since my meal but have just taken my increased dose of diabetes medication as well as both doses of pain medication. I may test again in 2 hours to see if they've made a difference.
Update: 2 hours after my low carb meal and my medication---17.3

Jade (stray cat) appears to live under the back of the swing at night. There is tarpaulin covering stuff, and it is safe, and a good defence spot, from the inquisitive foxes and badgers. She will startle the fox if he goes under the swing. I thought she might sleep on the swing now Midnight sleeps indoors most of the night now, but Jade likes her vantage point under the swing.
She had just seen the friendly fox off, when she came out here...

Kaleidoscope for today...it is sunny outside with fluffy white clouds in a blue sky...

I have a large black cat asleep on my legs, the weight of a large sack of potatoes...

Oh dear, no immediate cuppa nor breakfast for me...
I'd better look through the nighttime SD cards then...

Beautiful kaleidoscope

Good afternoon everyone. Just a quick request for advice please. I've just experienced a few feelings as though I was about to have a hypo. ( Fuzzy head, wobbly and very thirsty etc) so tested blood and was 21.1. Any ideas how to reduce my sugar levels quickly apart from drinking lots of water please? Many thanks. I am due to take my usual dose of 2x Gliclizide and 2x metformin after my evening meal. (Sorry if this is the wrong area for this but friends on here know my history). :)
What @gennepher said and I hope that that works quickly for you

Good morning everyone from week two of the back pain course. Nightmare yesterday - Pilates taster session in the morning by the descendant of a medieval torturer (a whole hour!) and pool exercises in the afternoon (45 minutes) - mercy, mercy! Interesting session on sleep and using movement as a therapy to improve function.
Nothing for me today as I am attending a funeral. Art bit - more detail added. Have the best day that you can have. Time for some koffy.

Were the foxes fighting, or was it one fox showing dominance over the smaller fox?

It is a sunny day again...

Cuppa tea now...oh dear...I shouldn't have typed those words...a very large cat has just jumped on me...

But guess what? I had the foresight this morning to make a small flask of tea...just in case...

That is an interesting description of pilates and sadly many of my class members would agree with you.
Yesterday one of my class members said she was going to set up a petition requesting that I don't attend any more training sessions after I introduced a lovely new exercise - a very slow press up in the downward dog position.
Apparently lovely was the wrong adjective. Actually I should have used effective because it is a superb triceps exercise using body weight as resistance.

Good morning everyone from a beautifully blue skied, sunny Exotic East. Yesterday was a wonderful day weather wise and No 3 son heard he had been successful in his interview for promotion. On Sunday he seemed certain someone else would get the job. Meanwhile a very British Coup unfolded before our very eyes. JKP and myself were travelling to and from St Ives Cambs via Cambridge so we missed the search for Poor Liz..Try the BBC iplayer. I forgot to ask Alexa to play this in the car but it is now an earworm. Of course there are no mountains or hills in The Real Fens but I know just what the song means. We shall be back there next week but maybe we can resist helping Fat Face through this crisis. @dunelm I hope the funeral goes as well as they can. Hug for that and the pilates but winner for the art and the spirit. @Annb hug for ongoing pain and bg issues. @Patsy B hug for the COVID but good move having those jabs early. @dogslife best wishes for the A1c and hopefully as the after effects of COVID recede so will bg levels. Have yourselves a merry little Tuesday whether you chose to celebrate the Feast of St Luke or not. Perhaps you have already eaten your 200 gms meat for October? Be kind to yourselves and all you encounter today,. Kind but neither reckless nor over indulgent.

`I have, unwillingly, turned the central heating on. But I have set it at 14C. Other than that, I have a small convection heater in the kitchen and Neil has a small oil filled heater in his bedroom. They are set around 18C. I intend to make the last half tank of oil last as long as possible but I'm pretty sure I will have to get more before Christmas. But not this month - the car has to go for its MOT next Friday and who knows what that will cost?

Household goods and food were always more expensive here on the Islands than on the mainland despite the introduction of "Road Equivalent Tariff" on the ferries so, trying to compare our outgoings to my brother's (south of England) was going to be difficult. But he tells me that he and his wife used to spend about £50 a week on food, drink and household goods but now they are spending about £70 and are intending to shop own brands and in a cheaper supermarket in future. On the other hand, for Neil and myself, I was, not so long ago, spending around the £100 mark but now it is nearer £180/190. I appreciate that we don't eat the same diet as most people and our needs are a bit more costly, but that seems ridiculously expensive compared to the south.

Fascinating video of those foxes. Do we have any fox behavioural experts here? Thank you for the creative I am now intrigued as to what the metallic object is. Have a great day.

Thank you @dunelm. My blood sugar was 17.3 two hours after eating a low carb evening meal followed by my increased dose of diabetes medication but was up to 20.9 his morning despite nothing to eat after last night' s meal. Just made an appointment for my HbAlc on 27th so should be interesting! Best wishes. :)
