What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning

A yuk day for a few already.

Add me to the list ...

FBG 7.1..
Feeling rough & bunged up last few days
Trying to hold back the phlegm
But kept awake with the coughing & woke up this morning a little overwhelmed and struggling to clear it.

A little chest banging (channeling my inner Mathew McConaughey )
A salt pipe, inhalers & star of the show, oil of obas .

30 minutes later, and having ejected an impressive amount of 'unwelcome visitor'

Breathings a little easier now .

Sat watching the news outlets, before climbing back into bed to catch up on the missing sleep the nights coughing caused.

Extra hugs for you @Annb

There must be some kind of solution for you.
I am sorry I am no help here.
I have no ideas.
But I found in the past, if I stopped a medication because of a problem, depending on the medication, it could take longer than a day of so to get out of your system.

Sounds like a really miserable night. Best place you can be right now is in bed and being good to yourself. Plenty of fluids and keep going with the Olbas Oil - it's very effective at clearing the airways.

Yes - that's so. I'm just trying to be optimistic. It will take however long it takes but will be improving all the time. My throat was so dry a short time ago that I thought the only way to get any saliva going was to have one of the, now sticky, sherbet lemons I bought for emergencies some time ago. I chewed it to very small pieces but temporarily they stuck to my throat and wouldn't go down. Briefly alarming but eventually the saliva did kick in and they went down. Shan't do that again.

I'll ask the GP if there are options that might do the job these pills are meant to do. Failing that, I shall just have to put up with the original problem.

Outside our windows this morning is white - on the ground, on the trees and bushes, on the grass, in the sky. Can't actually see any of those - the air is full of a wet, white blizzard.

Neil's gone to town to do some shopping. The roads shouldn't be too bad, although ours is very rarely gritted. The gritter comes from the main road as far as the school - a couple of hundred yards or so along the road from us but we depend on people driving through the snow to clear our section of road. The main road should be allright though. Took him about half an hour to get snow off the car and get it going (doesn't start well in cold weather).

Edit: another typo - must be because I am growing my finger nails.

I have a few humidifiers @jjraak
The big one that nearly drowned my bedroom last summer that I used because of the dry air and heat.
But I also have a couple of small usb personal ones, cost me £15 to £25 that run off a battery power pack , which means you can place it anywhere in a room, or next to where you are sitting.
I did write a much longer post here, but when I pressed send, it deleted half my post

Here is the rest of what I wrote...

A humidifier is good in winter apparently.

I have one going in the front room, and one in my bedroom.

Midnight took bad a couple weeks ago.
Respiratory infection.
Vet said Midnight was probably quite an old cat about 15 years old and suggested euthanasia.
Not on your darn Nelly.
We came home with antibiotics.
Midnight was still very very poorly.
Then I thought of my little humidifiers.
You could see the relief in his breathing immediately.
It is now nearly a week later, and I have my old Midnight back.
He has recovered.
He has lost weight, he's about half a size he was. Because he hasn't eaten for nearly 2 weeks.

But he is eating now and is healthier than me I think.
I am so relieved, I was sobbing my heart out before, because I thought I failed in everything. Now you know where some of my sense of failure came from. He hadn't turned the corner then. But he has now.

Those little personal humidifiers were and are worth their weight in gold.

They are helping me breathe better as well. I had never thought of using them in the winter...

Then you can see, gennepher, that in no way are you a failure. You refused to give up on Midnight even when the vet would have; and you found the solution yourself. It's wonderful to hear he is doing well now. Good for both you and Midnight.

Morning all, I hesitate to say good since the general tenor of the posts I've read so far implies there is a dark cloud of dysfunctionality (may have invented that) hovering over many here. Hugs for @dogslife @Annb @jjraak and sympathy for @Krystyna23040. @lindisfel take it easy on those roads even with the new improved eyesight and just remember these wise words . @gennepher now I've read the missing part I've given a winner but a hug for the tears is also hidden like Midnight in some of your creatives. If this isn't a definition of anomie I'm not sure what is. How did we get here? Good explanation in the book of Amos imho. Meanwhile, here the expert's - sorry Govey we need them - designation of the area as being milder and drier then most of UK seems to be about right. The meal yesterday and cuddles from the Little Fella were an Epiphany and reminder that though we have no right whatsoever to expect joy or pleasure here on earth, somehow we do and aren't surprised when we keep being gifted some. Strikes one as odd, don'tcha think? @Annb I gave a hug but so wanted to give a winner for the beautiful way you rationalised the turn around in functionality twixt you and your brother. Enjoy your day is inappropriate so let I'll Ann end this post
We all have our own crosses to bear, and I suppose he has had his own, different ones to mine. That's life!
Edit: some typos corrected

Oh goodness @gennepher
How distressing.

Poor you
Poor midnight

Thank goodness that corner has now been turned ...<Pray>

Long may it continue.

And thank you for the helpful advice, hadn't consider one until you posted....cheers.

You never have to give up, however impossible...

Thanks @ianpspurs

On the wildlife nighttime camera.
This is a night where the Fox rustles all the tin foil containers...
He has a friend with him who makes a brief appearance, but the friend is nervous of all this.

Creative is a painting begun in ZenBrush3, and finished in Procreate.
And as usual Midnight and Jade are hiding,..

And I need a nap.
Midnight is asleep on my lap, one reason not to move...
I have my trusty vacuum flask besides me, so, I can have a cuppa first...

Have your best day...

Very Chinese. Is Midnight the one hiding in the grass? It looks like him with his one ear shorter than the other. Love how you have dealt with that tree.

Yes, cat Midnight is the one in the grass. And he does have one ear shorter than the other. But so does Jade. It is what cat societies do when they capture strays, neuter them, and then release them back in the environment. But Jade's ear was not cut as short as Midnight's...
