What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

What an awful time you are having Gennepher. Is there no other chemist you could go to? That one sounds absolutely useless and unhelpful to boot. We sometimes have problems with supply, but at least the assistants and pharmacist are usually helpful and do their best. If our local pharmacist knows there is going to be a problem, they will either get a supply from one of the bigger pharmacies in town or give you your prescription back so you can go yourself and get it. There have been problems but they are not as unhelpful as your one when problems arise.

Oh - here we go again - the forum is refusing to upload my reply so I will delete it from here and post it separately.
I have already changed my chemist once...
It is not an answer...

It was part of a larger prescription order, and if you get an owing from the original chemist, you cannot get it elsewhere from the owing slip.

I have just tried My Health Online, but it is all automated and as far as the software is concerned I have already had the prescription, so it will not give me an option to order the owing items again.

I don't know what is going on @Annb

Late to post this today.

Yesterday I was sitting on top of my bed in the afternoon doing some writing, and suddenly Mr Magpie flies into my bedroom (The door was open into the garden) and stands on my bedside table looking at me. I look at him, tell him he's not meant to be in my house, and he turns around and flies away. He was less than a metre away from me. I didn't have my sound processor on, so I have no idea if he 'spoke' to me but his beak didn't open, so we'll assume he didn't. I then decided to cover all the items in my bedroom with tea towels (they were the nearest thing to hand) just so he couldn't steal them. I don't know whether that will work.

This morning I was out early because I had blood tests. I explain to the lady who was trying to find a vein that my veins are a bit difficult. So she stopped, what have you drunk yesterday...tea and water I said...what have you drunk this morning...tea and water I say.

Next time you're due for a blood test she tells me, knock off the tea the day before, and just drink water and on the morning before the blood test knock off the tea and only drink water. You can do what you want when you get back home, you can drink all the tea you want but do not drink tea the day before the blood test. Why I asked? Because tea shrinks the veins, dehydrates you and we can't find the veins if you drink tea. Drink water the day before and the morning of the blood test and you will be just fine she says, and proceeds jabbing me trying to find a vein.

It is now 9:00 a.m. and I go to the chemist to pick up my missing meds, I have the owing form in my hand. But there is already a long queue. They appeared to be looking for medicines unsuccessfully again. But what it does it turn out to be is that there are no meds for the customers. Quite a few people walked out with no meds and they had a bit of discussion with the counter assistant but I wasn't quite sure what was going on. There were quite a few people with owing slips and they presented them, and they were told something and they walked back out with their owing slips and no meds.

I presented my slip and I was told to go and wait at the front of the chemists and so I sat on my walker.

About 20 minutes later the counter assistant comes out, (and I have no idea why I had to wait for so long just for this), and she tells me that they are not in. So, do I come back in next week, I asked? That won't be much point, the counter assistant said. May I ask why, I said.

The counter assistant looked every which way except at me. Because they won't be in, she said. And why won't they be in, I asked again. Because they won't be coming in again. I saw no point in asking anything any further because people listening are beginning to stare at us by now, because I was the only one who asked so many questions. And the counter assistant looked like she wants to get back on the other (safe) side of the counter.

I am stunned. I didn't feel safe asking more questions in the chemist. I go to bed when I get home. I am tired anyway after waiting in the chemist for so long.

Just woke up 2pm. I feel like I am wasting my day and time again. A part of me feels like I am giving up when all these problems arise, and just going to bed. But I am tired

I have a lot on my plate this 2 weeks and I need my energies just for that. And to top it off, something else is coming up which wasn't supposed to happen until September, but is now happening next week, and I just do not have the energy to deal with all this September thing which is now next week, they insist on me providing some more paperwork asap....they have already had the paperwork, but want it again.

Anyway when I woke up, my head had already thought of a couple of strategies on the missing meds, which I shall set in motion, when I have some head space.

Two new young foxes in my garden.

This Creative is a raspberry flower, done in iPastels and then Procreate. It appeared from nowhere into my garden last year, and grew vigorously. The raspberries were not very palatable, and Google told me it was a foreign raspberry. But I cannot remember the name, and Google this year is telling me it is a blackberry, but the flower is wrong.

Now, I am going to find my hidden bottle of sherry...

Have your best day...

Hug for the prescription issues causing stress on top of stress. Thanks for the creative. I'm confused by the don't drink tea before bloods advice. I drink loads of tea and nurses/phlebotomists regularly access my veins which they say are easy to find and access. Everything I googled suggested tea was good for veins but their mileage obviously varies.

Obviously 'my' phlebotomist went to a different phlebotomist school than all the others then @ianpspurs

It wasn't a fasting blood test.

I have just googled too...and tea and water are okay for a non fasting blood test.

So, I don't know what nonsense she was spouting at me then...

I am glad I mentioned it on here, otherwise I would have blindly believed her, because she is a health professional.

Don't trust me I'm Simple Simon's less gifted relation. I had to stay in school until I was nearly 60.

Smashing piece of art no matter what species of raspberry it turns out to be. What a sad state that pharmacy is in. I wonder if you can get a face to face with the pharmacist rather than having to to talk to Mz Couldn’t-Care-Less. Some things just cry out for feet up and a glass or two of sherry. Do magpies drink sherry?

Allegedly a health professional I think. Smile and nod, smile and nod.

Thank you @dunelm
It is a different pharmacist each time I go. There is no regular pharmacist. They are not natural English speakers which makes it hard for me to lipread and understand them. But I have a couple of avenues to go down with this...

Well, he didn't join me when I did!!!!!

I was wondering about that too. It's never been mentioned to me despite all the issues I have with veins. But right enough, I do often feel that my throat has dried up after a cup of tea, if it is stronger than usual, so there may be something in it.

Morning all from L.A. where light showers and a gentle breeze are the order of the day. 4.7 from Swipey @ 5.38 so Keto Moussaka will get another Rodeo. SSSF today plus the Little Guy™ is here :woot: It is also his uncle, our oldest son's, birthday. Cricket bat and knocking in mallet acquired yesterday along with a £3 vanity present - Cambrdgeshire cricket shirt :woot: Whole rail of clothing for £3 returned unsold/unused by various clubs so JKP also bought me a £3 hoodie. @Annb how did #shortbreadgate go? Thoughts and prayers with all taking exams or tests. I need to drink tea, complete basic housework and Elf-N-Safetea inspection while JKP crosses The Real Fens © to collect our grandson. Have your own kind of super Friday - God has richly blessed mine even though I forgot to mention Ascension Day yesterday.
Somewhat tidied up (the post not me) after 2nd 750 mls black tea. Coffee is for Docky with a cookie and/or lc chocolate. I'm not a Philistine.

#shortbreadbakeoff went well but it will be taken for inspection/taste testing today. No doubt I shall hear more at some stage. I'm never confident these days, even though while I was a (mature) student I supported the family by cooking and baking for a local tea room (long hours) so I should be more confident but my recipes now are different and have only been tested on family and friends.

I'm all at 6's and 7's, or rather 3's and 10's. This morning I was wakened at 3 am by my Libre nagging at me because my BG had gone low (3.9). Got up then and tested again at 3.10. It had taken me that long to get from my bedside to the kitchen - all of 5 yards. By that time BG was reading at 8.7. Checked with a fingerprick test and it said 10.0! I guess my liver had decided that I needed energy to move - correctly as it turned out but it wasn't much help. Often the Libre is pretty well in agreement with the fingerprick, but the sensor I am wearing only went on yesterday and that's its first check reading. Obviously a bit out.

Must get on now - I only stopped to rest my legs and back but my cleaner said she will be here just after 10 am. Most prep done for her, but there's a whole load of dishes that I didn't do last night. And there is breakfast to make and eat. And there is tea to drink.

Hug for the Libre alarm. Massive winner for supporting your family and studying. No wonder you are in such demand as a baker/caterer. I'm sure your shortbread will ace the taste test. I tidied up the quoted post to be vaguely on the same continent as the English language but the evidence of the first effort is there in your quote.

Yesterday morning, I was going to write about something else, but then there was the fiasco of the chemist, my medicines etc

What it was, was yesterday morning, I went into the kitchen to find the new cat flap is broken. It is the swing door that is broken and the hinge bit has broken on the surround and I cannot mend it.
I have no idea or what did it. The trail camera in the kitchen did not get set off when that incident took place so it must've been a very speedy incident.
It might have simply been Midnight charging in like a cannonball, because of whatever was outside...who knows.
So this is another repair job. I had completely forgotten about it yesterday until it came to bed time and I'm locking up and I realise I completely forgot about this draughty hole into my kitchen.
I have already been in the garage this morning but everything I thought of to make some kind of swinging door, I had already used that for something else... so I need to get my thinking cap on.

Fox & Badger - Where are the cats???

This morning as I am doing my digital pastel painting, there is a ginger cat feeding off Midnight's food in my bedroom. There was another ginger cat in the night feeding while I was asleep, and Midnight was elsewhere. I just woke up for a second and turned the light on! I was relieved it wasn't a badger, so we both did the slow eye blink, and I went back to sleep.
The male blackbird, who nests in the front garden, has just flown to my bedside table (my bedroom door is open to the garden) and this is the first time ever for him. We look at each other, and then he flies off for some food for his babies.

Midnight appears to have done such a good guarding job at the swing, that the cat dishes, under the swing from last night, have not been licked clean by the fox, but all the peanuts and stuff I put in the bushes for the foxes and badgers have been eaten.

To get back to creative, this is a White Dead Nettle in my garden painted in Procreate.

Guess what!?!
The pair of sparrows in the honeysuckle bush have just brought out their baby for the first time for feeding. Only for a couple of minutes. Miss Fluffy looks gorgeous... I think this must be the time of year when I give sparrows and small birds their names!!! She must be a daddy's girl because he is feeding her while mum is eating at the feeders.

I need a nap...
And a cuppa!
Have your best day.

Cleaner's been and gone. My floors are now sparkling and the only carpeted area (the hallway) is no longer covered with metal and wood dust after Neil's DIY yesterday. All's well. Apart from the redecorating that needs to be done. It got as far as stripping old wallpaper frieze off of the hallway and painting the ceiling but stripping the frieze off left some areas that need rubbing down and there the job stopped. This is what happens with Neil - his attention gets diverted and we end up with jobs that have been started but not finished eg new bath in place and waste fitted, but no taps fitted (bathroom is more or less a utility room now with a top on the bath and paint pots and other junk on it - luckily we have a separate shower room), kitchen ceiling replastered and painted, but only half of the walls painted, washing machine and tumble dryer fitted in the "utility" room but sink taken out and never put back in - replacement taps seem to have disappeared, and so it goes ... I am pretty sure I will never get to use my bath, or the utility sink. If I'm lucky, or live long enough, I might see the paintwork done one more time. It really doesn't matter all that much as long as nobody looks at it all.

Despite taking insulin and having breakfast, BG is still either 11.4 or 12.3, depending on which meter is used. Probably should take more insulin and have some lunch.

@gennepher

Marley broke ours at the hinge a few years back, taking the front cover off I removed flap, bodged a fix using a screw, some cardboard and that good old standby, gaffer tape .

Which has just reminded me I need to look on Amazon for a new one ...but fix has held, and with cover back on, only slightly noticeable.
Okay, I will have another look @jjraak
Gaffer tape is amazing stuff...
