Another complication. The pharmacist says that Tresiba won't be available as a pen again until next year - some production issue. It will be available as cartridges for which I will need a pen that can be loaded. That means I have to explain to the GP what the problem is and get a new prescription. I wonder if I can do it through the Diabetes Centre. I'll give that a try this afternoon. Might even manage to squeeze out some information about my HBA1c.

Morning all on a cool start to what promises to be a sunny, warm day in L.A. I'm off across the Real Fens ™ for my fortnightly Drip Trip. JKP still poorly - Granddaughters and DIL took about 6/7 days to recover so a few days left yet. @gennepher thanks for sharing the videos and the kaleidoscope. @Annb hoping your calculations are correct over the A1c. @lindisfel shame about the celebration but wise not to try to do too much too soon. Have a good day everyone.
I do hope that JKP feels a lot better very soon. Gastric upsets are horrid.

Hopefully you get this sorted @Annb and they let you know what your HBA1c is.

Just back from my eye appointment. It seems I'll get on better if I cover one eye with either a frosted lense or an eye patch. I tried the frosted lense, but found I was closing the eye anyway. I always do that when I'm reading to reduce the weariness in that eye. I think I'll try the eye patch - it will make sure the eye stays shut. I also have to go to Glasgow at some stage for an MRI scan (to see if there's anything inside my skull, presumably). I also had to have a blood test - that made the day for 3 nurses! They managed it eventually. It didn't help that my BG dropped away sufficiently for my Libre to start screaming at me so I had to have 2 digestive biscuits to bring it back up. 5.4 now so that's OK.

While I was in the hospital, Neil went to the garage to find out what he could about the Scenic. The garage is waiting for a part to come in before they can fix it but they estimated that the job is going to cost something over £1000! Ouch! My Bank account is going to be painted red next month. But on the bright side, that is still cheaper than buying a new car, even a new "pre-loved" one. Just as long as that extends its life for another year or so. I don't actually know anything about the Motability scheme and wonder if that would suit me better. Probably not if it means I lose all of my Attendance Allowance as a result.

Life gets complicated, don't it?
Had to laugh. The opthalmologist, while considering whether or not to send me for an MRI scan was very embarrassed and trying to find a way of not saying that I might be too fat to get into the scanner. He very hesitatingly asked my weight (not that I'm implying that you are er..er..FAT I said). He struggled for words again and asked if I knew my waist measurement. I don't. Then he admitted that he was thinking I wouldn't get into the scanner. He went away to find out and came back to say it would be allright. I couldn't help laughing at the poor man's embarrassment.

Also had to laugh apologetically when the nurse discovered that I had to have a blood test after all. I had assured her on entering the department, seeing the horror on her face at seeing me there, that I wasn't there for a blood test, so she could relax. She couldn't.

Glad you see the humour in all that. I'm not sure how to rate that hug or funny?

Daytime...
Magpie steals the cat's treat - and then fills his beak again with cat biscuits

Creative is a kaleidoscope in Laboscope of Ox-eye daisies, which are in my garden.

Me? There is a bumblebee nest/gathering in my attic above my bedroom again. And I have another red-tailed bumblebee whose wings are deformed and he/she cannot fly. I always have at least one of these every year. It was busily racing on the ground a hundred miles a hour round my feet. So I picked it up and popped it on some flowers, but it is expending too much energy to last long.

The red-tailed bumblebee that had very deformed wings some years ago who lasted a few weeks with my help was Sophie. I got very attached to her! I could always spot where she was in the garden. She was always within 2 or 3 metres of my bedroom door. And she died one night outside my bedroom door...

Right, what does today bring?

At the moment it is a cup of tea, some thinking and research on a problem, and I have to register a pile of postcards, and on top of me asleep is a living black fur blanket who is exhausted after guarding the swing from Foxy all night (but lost the cat biscuits war as soon as he came in to guard me...).

I could so easily go back to sleep.

Oh, and more baby sparrows have left the nest for the first time...

Have your best kind of day...

Another beautiful day in Cumbria in this amazing Spring. Temperatures predicted to go up in next to two days but we have our own cool house with us not catching the sun until mid afternoon from early morning, so we have no worries about high temperatures.

Have good day all.

Have been feeling a bit groggy in the mornings for a few weeks now, worse this morning- kept having to sit down after small tasks. Actually considered cancelling French lesson.
@gennebumble bee nests are ok. We have one above the back door, but I was horrified to discover we also have a hornets nest in the front wall of the house. It's right behind a drainpipe and there are bits of pointing missed. Not going to be easy to get at.
Kiki has perfected her trick of giving me kisses . I was trying to teach her high five, but somehow it has morphed into a gentle pat to my face. .. going with the flow here.

Morning all. How you 'doin? Sunny and almost mild here but quite a breeze keeping down the air temperature so far. Some don't like the promised more mild days ahead but after almost 10 months of grot I'm happier. Drip Trip over safely for me but the (inevitable imho) fall out from "that event" continues. JKP did try some water biscuits yesterday but No 3 son is badly affected and MIL may now have a gout flare up. She won't drink so that could be "fun" but she has ordered medicine. Modern life is goodish (quite a funny programme). I'm collecting a summer weight double duvet from a Little Waitrose at a garage cum Macdonald's (of course there's one here.). I year guarantee on a duvet :hilarious: I've been/am sleeping in a separate bedroom while JKP is crook but the duvet is a monster and we gave the boys the lightweight double ones. I'm cooking (well, pressed some pre-programmed buttons - no Alexa link yet) a roast in the bag chicken before the expiry date - over doing it just to ensure no more bad tums. It's only chicken so no loss if it is not very edible - the dogs will have a treat at worst. @gennepher how lovely to give even wounded bees a name and care. Thanks for the videos. A patient fox and loving hunter gatherer Magpie. As you know, I like the kaleidoscopes so a big thank you. @SlimLizzy hug for feeling groggy and the hornets nest but winner for training Kiki. BBC news seems to suggest France has higher food prices than UK on what they consider a basic shop - common may suit their selection better in many ways. Whatever you do today do it well and to the glory of who or whatever you feel appropriate. I'mma cooking my salmon - just because.

7.4 this morning. A little bit quieter day today. Lovely dog walk in the sunshine.

Had been trying to install the fitbit app on my new kindle fire but it wasn't compatible with that device. Then this morning I suddenly remembered that hadn't used the app on my other kindle - so I copied the website address and it is now installed on my new kindle. So everything is now installed on new kindle - thank goodness.

Good morning everyone on what will hopefully be a warmer day than yesterday. Girl In The Bubble has a vaccination in a while and then it’s off the the cafe for toasted muffin and perhaps a glass of milk before she heads off to school for the afternoon session. Art bit, moving along. Have a smashing day if you can. My koffy is long since been consumed but the cafe calls.

Spoke to the diabetes nurse and she was delighted to report my HBA1c of 56 - not so far from the 51.2 that I worked out. And it was 3 weeks ago that the blood was tested so it might have come down a big more. She is going to alter my prescription so that I can get the different version of Tresiba, so that's fine. Now I need to ask the GP about possible anaemia. The sun is shining very brightly today but I am cold (3 layers cold). I did warm up in the hospital yesterday, but that was due to a hypo.

Believe it or not, I think our resident starlings are nesting again. When we went out yesterday there was a load of discarded nesting material on the path outside the door and the parent birds were carrying fresh nesting material to the hole in the overhang. One of the young ones (presumably theirs) was sitting on the fence begging for food but just got a peck for its pains and flew off. Another of those kids who want to live off the bank of mum and dad!

Hug for the hornets' nest. Another one for feeling groggy in the mornings. Do take care and listen to what your body is telling you. Your health is more important than any of the tasks you have on your list.

Edit: Just listen to the pot talking to the kettle!
