Thank all for your your good wishes.
Lakes very busy and now I find it quite hard to walk on hilly terrain. I had a good day and the fish and chips from The Kingfisher in Keswick were of extremely high quality and well worth eating.
I finished up the day tired and went to bed and slept well.
Helen's Superb is not meant for the Watendlath road which is very narrow in places.
She will be retiring in September when she reaches retiring age but she has been validated to work for some years yet and loves work so I can't see her stopping.
D.
Glad you had a really good day for your birthday. The fish and chips sound wonderful. Tired but happy then sleeping well is a perfect combination. God bless Helen for working while she can. The NHS needs experienced GPs whose heart is in the calling.

Well at the risk of sidetracking totally.

The entire ethos of AI, through many sci fi storylines, basically runs we don't rush to embrace it.
(Asimov caves of steel, for one, perhaps RoboCop, is another good example, but there are many of them, it's taxed writers minds for ages)

Mankind is generally lazy & relatively easy to manipulate for profit, if so inclined.

Skynet is perhaps the best movie based end game analysis .
( Ignoring the time travel part )

While AI would certainly drive health care & much other that would benefit the whole of society, the real promotors would be military.

Easy to see control increasing as each bloc or power pushes to counter the enemies superiority in various sectors .

So AI, short term very very disruptive, think of all the workers no longer required, and unlike previous industrial Revolutions unlikely to be able to train & compete with an ever growing AI model work force.

Hard to see where the majority would actually fit in, if I'm honest.

With sci-fi, AI & skynet are inexorably linked, the long term threat is perhaps not so extreme, but the dangers are there

Can we limit & control it...I think that genie is currently at the stage, we possibly could, but likely won't be able.

Let's pray it's a respectful child of our creation & doesn't become bored trying to look after us once we're of little productive use

Well actually I'm not really a human I'm a product of this. If AI closes the access to justice gap that must be an advantage.

I had a blood test a week or so ago to check HBA1c but have had no feedback from that. I thought I would try to work something out for myself from the average 90 day figures from the Libre and putting that through an online calculator. The 90 day average on the Libre worked out at 8.3 and the calculator says that is 51.2 HBA1c. I don't know how accurate that is - it might not be measuring the same thing. The last figure I was given (after a lot of huffing and puffing from dietician) was 63. It has been up and down over the months that it was checked, 58 at one stage but before and after it was in the high 60's. I'll be very glad if the figure is 51.2 but am not convinced that the Libre is the right tool to be using.

Morning all on a cool start to what promises to be a sunny, warm day in L.A. I'm off across the Real Fens ™ for my fortnightly Drip Trip. JKP still poorly - Granddaughters and DIL took about 6/7 days to recover so a few days left yet. @gennepher thanks for sharing the videos and the kaleidoscope. @Annb hoping your calculations are correct over the A1c. @lindisfel shame about the celebration but wise not to try to do too much too soon. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all - just - from a much more sunny Little America. JKP is still crook and No 3 son has now been struck down but MIL not affected. DIL and children in Winchester recovered. @gennepher thanks for sharing the latest kaleidoscope. As you know I like those. :) @dunelm thanks for sharing the start of the latest piece of art. Such excitement for you yesterday. Today mine is a box of bookmarks for £2.99 including postage. MIL has one of those ladders which I'm sure she will fight tooth and nail to keep away from the house clearance people who would have been there this Saturday but JKP has delayed them. That event will make an epic tiktoc/youtube or similar. @Annb you were quite the daredevil back in the day and we already knew you were @gennepher. Phone review was basically carry on as you are. Cricket to watch today plus something other than peanut butter and babybels to eat. Best wishes for those taking Maths GCSE today. Busy A Level day - Chinese, Statistics, Urdu, Business, English Lit (Prose), Russian, Urdu and P.E. anyone? Have a good day folks.
Meanwhile, in primary school.

We can all now become multi tasking lawyers and brain surgeons and no-one will be able to tell what is real on social media, TV or in newspapers. Strange days and our government in particular will be very slow to react to it.

Good morning everyone on another dull start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Still, the bin cavalcade didn’t let us down. It’s Tim Berners-Lee’s birthday today. I wonder what he thinks of all this AI? Brother in law round fixing some capping rails to the fence he built at the bottom of the garden. Art bit, and on we go. Hope your day is kind. I really must add koffy to the shopping list.

Good happy national bin day Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and before the grumpy can complain if you woke up it’s a happy day, you woke up.

Blood sugars this morning were a 6.5, I’m happy with that.

Mrs J banned me from helping her with the shopping this morning, so in retaliation I’m playing Plank Floored ( Pink Floyd ) rather loudly on the stereo system and a lot earlier this morning I played a bit of Wagner, Ride of the Valkyries on the plinky plonky machine ( keyboard) it’s a new piece for me. I’m not sure but I might have woken Mrs J up and the shopping ban is revenge.
Best wishes to @ianpspurs today on your visit for extra fluid that is not tea flavoured.

Now it’s time for me me’s and myself to depart have the best day you can all, stay safe.

Good afternoon all. My fbs this morning was 11.6. Interesting appointment with a different GP this morning following my latest HbA1c last Thursday. She has added Dapagliflozin (Forxiga) to my existing 3 diabetes medications. (This can cause UTIs as it eliminates sugars via the kidneys!). She has also suggested I gradually reduce my pain killing medications over the next few weeks as they may be affecting my blood sugars as well as causing drowsiness which makes me more sedentry. So we'll see what happens. The sun has come out so I am off for a walk around some local gardens. Enjoy your days as best you can.

Just back from my eye appointment. It seems I'll get on better if I cover one eye with either a frosted lense or an eye patch. I tried the frosted lense, but found I was closing the eye anyway. I always do that when I'm reading to reduce the weariness in that eye. I think I'll try the eye patch - it will make sure the eye stays shut. I also have to go to Glasgow at some stage for an MRI scan (to see if there's anything inside my skull, presumably). I also had to have a blood test - that made the day for 3 nurses! They managed it eventually. It didn't help that my BG dropped away sufficiently for my Libre to start screaming at me so I had to have 2 digestive biscuits to bring it back up. 5.4 now so that's OK.

While I was in the hospital, Neil went to the garage to find out what he could about the Scenic. The garage is waiting for a part to come in before they can fix it but they estimated that the job is going to cost something over £1000! Ouch! My Bank account is going to be painted red next month. But on the bright side, that is still cheaper than buying a new car, even a new "pre-loved" one. Just as long as that extends its life for another year or so. I don't actually know anything about the Motability scheme and wonder if that would suit me better. Probably not if it means I lose all of my Attendance Allowance as a result.

Life gets complicated, don't it?
