Creative is ink painting with Hake brush...two versions...

I really really want some new inks. Nothing wrong with the FW inks. They are over 20 years old and still as good as the day I bought them. But I fancy some Dr Ph Martin's Radiant Concentrated WaterColour inks. I bought my daughter in Australia a set from the Australian site for her 50th. Imagine my surprise when I look on English Amazon, and they are double the price in the U.K. So, I have lost one stone in weight this year so far by simply not eating any processed carbs whatsoever. I have just promised myself the Dr Ph Martin's inks when I get down one more stone in weight. And by the way I can nearly fit into some lovely 30 year old jeans which I always saved in case I can fit in them again....

The sparrows are making one heck of a racket out there...

Have a good day.

Lovely creatives and congratulations on the weight loss. You deserve a treat.

Spoke to my brother yesterday evening. Sad to hear he is considering getting rid of his car and buying 2 electric buggies - one for himself and one for his wife. He has been a driver since he was 17 (1959) but he feels he doesn't want to drive any distance now so, when his car is due for replacement, it will just be sold off. He only uses it to go shopping or to local medical appointments anyway. It brought home to me just how limited our lives have become - the highlight of their week was a visit to the dentist for both of them. The highlight of my week was a visit to the health centre to get my legs rebandaged. Next few weeks will be a bit more interesting for me though - 2 events to be catered for plus Em's 11th birthday (cake currently in the planning stage). Of course, in the coming month I will be passing into my 79th year. Not that that is of any importance - not even to me. Also Em's parents' 12th wedding anniversary - not sure what that is - wood? paper?

Ah - just checked - it's silk. Must look for something made of silk for them. Could just make it a sow's ear of course, and see if they can make something of it. Nah.

Went out for walk yesterday an old birding friend I had not seen recently stopped to talk and was on my feet for an hour an quarter and walked a little further than I had before with my back problem.
He had had a very bad time he lost his first wife to cancer and his second wife had had a bad time after having heart operation go wrong.
He was hoping to take her home yesterday after she needed professional care for a time.

He had not seen me for a long time and thought I had gone to the Grey Havens I think

I knew from personal experience how life can be unbelievably difficult for some through no fault of their own and one cannot help feel deep empathy.

At the same time it shapes any theology one has and for me Calvinism is not a belief system I can espouse, but as yet it has not led me into atheism.

Morning all from a breezy but dry and sunny L.A. I have a scan later which clearly impacted my morning bp level so @Lamont D and others background stress will affect fbg. Let's hope the stress of winning an Ashes series, not drawing one, affects the Aussies. @Krystyna23040 enjoy Gooderstone which is closer to us than I thought. MIL would like it. Their website mentions sausage rolls and coffee (do they have pouring cream and ceylon cinnamon for coffee or Gaucamole ? - asking for a friend you understand ) so you and Mr K should be sorted for an afterwalk treat. @gennepher well done on the weight loss as a bonus from cutting out processed carbs. Thanks for sharing both creatives. The bottom one reminds me of my home village flood plain fen which sometimes froze over and was then used for fen skating championships. @lindisfel I gave a like for you being able to walk further and stand longer, your concern for others and despite sensible questions not falling into Atheism. Probably wise to be clear about the difference between Calvin and some Calvinists just as it is for Christ and some Christians @Annb I nearly gave a funny for the silk purse reference. You have plenty of opportunities to share your wonderful gift of baking and catering from the comfort of your own home. MIL was still using her car until 91 y.o. but JKP had been worried about that for some time. @JohnEGreen enjoy the meal, your A1c will be fine. Enjoy your day as much as possible.

I suppose, when it comes to driving, if you start to feel that it is too much of a chore, or no longer trust your reactions or judgement, then it's time to stop. My father didn't want to stop, but we persuaded our doctor to advise it "temporarily" because his judgement really was shot. Tom lost trust in his own ability and voluntarily gave up. Same with me. Partly my eyes, partly my responses. Time to stop.
Just a bit sad to think my ever strong brother has reached the same stage. Tom did have an 80+ year old uncle who would not give up his car. He was one of those elderly drivers who wander slowly down the road, weaving from side to side, unable to see more than a few feet in front of the bonnet. Nobody could ever persuade him to stop. It's all very well endangering your own life - it's your responsibility, after all, but being a danger to others, for whatever reason is just not on!

Thank you @ianpspurs

I hope you have a successful day with the scan and it all goes well x

Surprised to see you would be having a scan at the weekend. That most certainly wouldn't happen here - not unless it was an emergency. Hope the day goes well and that the results are as you want.

DIL was telling me that we are to have our own MRI scanner sometime soon. It seems to have occurred to the Health Board that they are spending millions on sending people to Glasgow for scanning and those millions could just as well be paid out here. Trouble is going to be getting radiologists to staff it.

6.1 mmols this morning, I think that's better, after a rogue lo reading. (No idea why?) Will test again in an hour.
isn't that the third / fourth I have seen this morning?
Anywho, my son came around for an hour with the young grandkids and had a bit of a run around (not me) in the garden. So that did cheer me up. But it all came back to earth with the shopping on line, it was very frustrating, as the misrememberitis went haywire as she ordered items, that we didn't want or need, which pertained to the family that no longer reside here or partake in repast at anytime. (Sounding posh this morning o or swallowed a dictionary!)
And again this morning taking her meds, insisting (3rd day in a row) that she can't find one of her tablets. All were there in her blister pack. So I have wrote it down on a piece of paper, (I need postit notes) so that she doesn't take too many!
I'm going to have to put them around the house.
More chores to do, shopping done.
Is everyone fed up of the wet and windy weather? Not sitting in the garden, is not good for my mood! Cricket on, whilst choring! Cuppa had!

Such wonderful talented and friendly people on here, the only thing I can draw, is my pension!
I have colourful language. And I'll only be a ..... artist!

Have a wonderful Sunday

Driving, not my thing! Even tho, I spent 35years building thebuggeds!,Not had a licence for years cos of the hypoglycaemia! Been chauffeured around the country,
A neighbour who is ninety plus, has just had his car sold because he wouldn't stop driving. The thing was, that despite his restrictions, and mobility, his driving was exemplary. Never had an accident etc. His driveway gate is very narrow and it is about a couple of inches wider, you have to fold the wing mirrors in. He never missed going in first time!
Just to add, it is strange that some people who drive naturally and is very comfortable doing so without concern, have difficulty using other equipment especially in the kitchen or DIY!
Of which I'm rubbish at both!

As always my best wishes.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those that ponder the wisdom of the wise.

Blood sugars this morning were 6.6

Here in Tilehurst Towers it’s been a busy and strenuous old morning. The BBC’s work of science fiction and fantasy ( weather forecast) was predicting rain for this afternoon so Mrs J and me, me’s and myself attacked the back garden, hedges are overgrown, brambles everywhere and no mow May was taken to the extreme, the benefits were and are an increase in wildlife of all types. The bulk of the garden will not be mown till late September, but paths need to be defined. I will attempt to attach a picture.

This afternoon will be devoted to napping, plinky plonky practice and planning next week. No wood working today, no driving,no motorcycling and no watching sport on the idiot box. Drat just remembered I missed my 10:30am constant tea.

Stay safe and here’s a phrase that kept me alive when I flew hangliders and could be applied to driving when you question your abilities “ If in doubt chicken out “

BG at 3.30 am was 8.5. Rose to 10.9 before an early breakfast and first insulin bolus dose. Had some home made sausage and a fried egg with a buttered crumpet and BG started to drop - went down to 4.8 and then started to rise again. It's 8.4 now. So, should I have some lunch with some more insulin? Maybe. Currently making wholemeal bread and some banana oat slices (for the T2 lady at the first of the month's events). Bread is for me. I reckon I can manage half a slice a day and still keep within carb limit. Making cupcakes this afternoon. That'll probably be enough for one day.

Word of the day!

Rambunctiousness.

Wind has dropped! Now raining!
Rain stop play!
Could do with a summer's day!
