What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from yet another overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north. Missed lots of posts but was totally distracted by a fun packed weekend reunion but did manage to remember the small purchases for Mrs Miggins and our daughter in that tourist trap called Betty’s Tea Room. A blind member of our group told everyone that he hadn’t seen many of us for years. More grandparent duties today - gotta love school holidays, even three year olds jump on the bandwagon nowadays. Art bit, just a quick colour sketch from a photograph I saw but can’t remember when. Hope you all had a good weekend. Now where is that lovely koffy.

Women taking their kids to school and delivery drivers trying to read whilst driving and finish up hitting our old bridge over the river. I don't buy this about old drivers provided their mental and driving faculties are intact they are far more safe than the idiots who go round blind bends on the wrong side of the road. There are three senior drivers in this hamlet, two with physical mobility issues when not driving. I can't remember any of them having a significant bump.

Rant on. You are quite right. An experienced driver who still has good eyesight and reactions is probably the safest on the road. Problems may arise when one of those younger idiots do something wrong and an older, less able driver has to try to cope. I never had a significant bump either - in fact only 2 minor ones in all the years I was driving but the last one shook me because it revealed a lack of judgement of which I was unaware, as well as an eyesight deficiency which is still under investigation (hence the MRI scan recently). That's when I stopped driving, even though it is inconvenient to both myself and Neil.

I don't think I was ever one of those mad drivers as a young person - the car we bought was a 2nd hand Morris Traveller with a top speed of 45mph, going downhill with a tail wind. Not much chance to be a mad driver.

Hope your trip to Carlisle goes well and the monitoring of your heart is helpful.

Hi Ian,
I know someone who is having immunotherapy for a similar problem at a hospital in Scotland, they periodically have him in hospital overnight.
I hope they manage to zap it ok.

6.3 this morning.

Work is starting shortly on replacing our driveway with brickweave. We made a huge mistake 10 years ago installing a stone bond driveway. It just didn't last and has started to break up - probably because the cars are circling to the side to park instead of going straight in and out of the drive.

I am so pleased that I am off to classes shortly as our friend who is installing it will be using a noisy digger to dig it up.

Yesterday a Robin Redbreast made friends with me as I was in the garden. Midnight came along and sat on the other side of me. This morning, Robin Redbreast came to the fatball feeder near my open door, and then flew to my bedside table and looked at me. Cat Midnight was on my lap asleep. No food for you Robin, I told him.

I am not personally feeding him, as much as I would love to. Too many stray cats, but having said that, no cat has caught a bird in my garden in the last few years. The male (but not the female) blackbird lands next to Midnight on the swing and takes the cat biscuits while Midnight watches him.

Gorgeous creatives. Thanks for sharing. I hope the 2 pieces approach is working as intended. Today's 2nd one looks more optimistic to me. Amazing that no bird has fallen prey to a cat in such a long time. Well done on being a cat whisperer.

Blood sugars this morning were 6.5 .

Ah the wages of over doing things in the garden are manifesting themselves today, walking is a problem, me me’s and myself must learn I am not as young or fit as I used to be, I should listen to my body more, or more likely listen to my body nagging me along with Mrs J.

The positive side of this I have a wonderful excuse to rest up, listen to music, read and practice plinky plonky while drinking copious amounts of tea and koffy.

Luckily today I am unsupervised so the music volume could be a trifle loud, I think I shall start with a little La Boheme then slowly and loudly work my way to wherever the music takes me.

Stay safe all.

My eldest has taken to playing and plinky plonk lessons for a year or two now, since she inherited her m.i.l. piano. She'll pick it up quickly as she does everything else. Not so yours truly everything was b.s.a.t.
S.i.l. must be keen he is buying her a key board for holidays on her 60th in Sept.
I would her sooner play her violin which she does to a high standard.

6.6 this morning. Just chilling watching the square box! Baz ball is on for the last time this summer. Hoping for a positive result.
It is cold and cloudy, threatening a lot of rain. Forecast is dreadful for the week, no temperature at all! Wet and windy and already in my front garden, lots of foliage from the local trees, gotta think it's autumn already cos it certainly ain't summer!
No appointments this week, so I might find something to do inside. A little job or two!
Have took total charge of meds distribution, as it was a bit worrisome as again the misrememberitis, confused Mrs L's awareness of the time. And because of this, I couldn't sleep in enough, as my anxiety levels were up to prevent any chance of overdosing of her pain and diabetic meds.

It is now raining!

I am with you and really get what you are saying - my ideal weight is 9st 2llbs and that's when I have no pot belly at all and I have been 8st 13llbs when I had a very active job and I also agree with you that my pancreas worked a lot better at this weight and my BS were a lot better too - I am a stone heavier at the moment and you have made me think about trying to get if off again - I have thought about it for quite a while but that is all I have done ... good luck with your weight loss - I wish you well x

Thank you @Mrs T 123 . I agree that it is easier to put it on than take it off. When I went on the carb fest at Christmas it shot up from 9 stone 5lbs to nearly 10 stone so quickly but it has been a real struggle to lose it. Today I am 8 stone 13¼lbs.

Blood sugars much better but not perfect yet - but I am hopeful that they will improve further.
I feel that somehow I harmed my pancreas with the carb fest and it is repairing very slowly.
