What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Dear Tea Drinkers Alliance

As one who drinks at least 4 litres of tea per day I refer you to the wise words of Mr W Shakespeare Esq

“ O, reason not the need! Our basest beggars/Are in the poorest thing superfluous.”

I don't want a dog on a piece of string, just a decent cup of coffee when I want one and I'm humbled that God blessed me to be able to acquire the means so to do. I also like my tea - Twinnigs (I don't like the Fortnum and Mason) Assam - made in a teapot and served in a very big (800 mls) white china mug. None of that is remotely necessary it is just that
That's the way, aha, aha
I like it, aha, aha
That's the way, aha, aha
I like it, aha, aha

I remain, sir, your humble servant

K Lear

Ps Best wishes for tomorrow and #8 sounds wonderful.

Still riding the 8 express .

Pre assessment went well.
A little telling off about the BG ..11 but after a breakfast, getting to the appointment & taking the 2 flights of stairs as glaciers move faster than it, and of course the stress factor .

But all offered with well meaning intentions.

Op still on but a date change (Fri to Mon) which makes little difference to me.

Off home for a nice cuppa & some relaxation.

I hope for a good response & some action that properly addresses the issues .

Fingers crossed for you both .

Haha, not knocking it really

Lauren's a coffee connoisseur .

But While she knows her coffee beans, and I admit to knowing little of coffee myself, I have learned a bit, and am quite surprised Nescafé is her go to instant favourite (quite a bitter flavour, apparently )

For me any coffee doesn't really agree with me, neither giving me that smack of flavour like a good tea can or satisfying me on any level.

Not ashamed to admit the "coffee shop' hysteria leaves me totally bemused.

But each to their own.
Salutations whatever your preferred beverages are .

I am of the leaning towards, your FBG is the last thing to be concerned about, there will be so many reasons why it is slightly high, and will have time afterwards to get it back down.
Waiting is the worst for me.
Things have to be done asap!
Once done, feet up, another cuppa and try to relax. That is, if the boss allows.

Question for those experienced in old wives remedies.
Mrs L woke me up, as a severe sustained attack of hiccups, which was very loud, and nearly woke Mrs L up.
How do you stop the hiccups, without waking her up?
I don't know.
But Mrs L managed it, whilst asleep.
Answers on a coaster for your cups.

I wonder what would happen if the source of tea leaves, coffee beans couldn't be imported?
I am aware of ersatz beverages, as they had in the wars. But I would imagine there would be major outrage, heads would roll! Just can't imagine life without tea!

My brother.
It does seem, we have something in common, other than everything else.
As someone who has as well as a weirdness with RH, an aversion to other foods, drinks.
I would wager, that I have never swallowed even a miniscule amount of coffee, ever. In any form!
It hits my mouth and the next instant* I'm gagging and spitting.

* See what I did there?

It is obnoxious, I love revels, when young, but wouldn't buy them cos of.......yuk!
Wouldn't go near a box of chocs in case........!
The smell knocks me, and I just hate making any coffee, the family would want.
Mrs L is the same. But not as anti coffee as I am.

Viva the tea alliance!

Smashing and mistletoe on the trees -Druid central.
Think for druids the mistletoe had to be on an Oak tree? Here in Normandy mistletoe is found mostly on Poplars and Apple trees. MrSlim clears a few trees every year. The trees behind the gazebo were cleared two or three years ago. No Poplars in immediate vicinity, but here is another Apple tree heavily burdened with mistletoe.

The best of it was when I got prostate cancer he saw me, told me he could take a rodent ulcer off my face .
I said why should I bother about the dog kennel when the house is on fire.

I wished I hadn't, I did not know what he was facing. We had become friends, he was brilliant. Helen met doctors who knew him, he had written loads of papers.

I refurbished completely a big PUVA Machine for him that was failing ..just forty fluorescent fittings with tubes produce UVA and I made a prototype arm treatment PUVA.
Money was short and he couldn't get any new stuff.

When I had sepsis in 1997 , the rash and high temp of 104 and the doctor sent me to Carlisle in a flashing ambulance after two weeks they did not give me antibiotics at first. Not right!
It was when I told the elderly care consultant my daughter was coming to see me he put me on massive IV antibiotics, Helen was coming in pm!
The leadihg nurse where Marjorie was a visitor said they should have given IV antis' immediately I went in.
What were the management doing?
No one in the elderly patient team had been trained to do a lumbar puncher.
Well they wouldn't be practicing on me.
.
Neil took me into the Dermatology ward a day or two later and looked after me for a
couple of weeks.
Somebody, a senior at education in schools told me they called it 'the sticking plaster hospital' over in the NE
Eventually my temp of 104 and rigors without paracetomol went away. I started to recover.
I now believe Carlisle is vastly improved due to foreign doctors, mainly Muslim and Indian etc
.
My friend never caused keloids, a year later you could not see where he had been a year before.....he could do plastic surgery.
He was the exception at Carlisle. I was sorry to hear he had bad kidney disease and died at a young age and could not get a matching kidney.

God bless and rest him
Derek

Sounds like painting the Forth Bridge. Thank’s for the photo

What a gorgeous looking property. Obvious why you both fell in love with it and equally obvious how much hard work and love there has been. Keep warm and rest up until properly better.

A post for @Lamont D , and anyone with an interest in brain function.

I already take a B12 supplement, but hadn't been aware of the omega 3 element offering such a strong paired coupling.

A fascinating glimpse into possibly better health.

For me adding the fish oil seems something I WILL be adding to my Armoury.
It's a low cost intervention, that may or may not offer any more protection for me, but as I currently add some Brazil nuts to my diet, because of concerns, I'm already 'in'

But what a result if any of those positive end points mentioned, are realised.

15 mins in of note.
17 mins in something worth knowing.
39 minutes in, stunning result if true
(No reason to believe otherwise, but having been there, finding it hard to believe something SO simple ......)

Really interesting article. I had no idea that Brazil nuts are so good for you.
Me neither until it got mentioned by someone in a post during my early days .

The very ethos of the forum I think .

Sharing thoughts & ideas.

All leading off in directions of help for someone, even long after the intended recipient received the original message.

A marvellous mix of listening, sharing & support, for wherever we are on our diabetic journeys .

Long may it last.

Cannot sleep, went to bed at 1900 yesterday because I was exhausted. Slept enough and will put the heating on early at 0530. It's been freezing here, but dry, since last friday and I accidentaly let the multifuel stove out a week ago.
But I have been doing more which keeps one warm.

The car is now A1 and i was up at seven had a quick low carb breakfast of two eggs and two spoons of natural yoghurt and a square of dark choc. That will keep me running till lunch.

Since the Cardiologist changed my meds and Helen moved my sertraline to just last thing at night I have felt a new man.

So by 0930 we were at the post box near our local garage and then off to Carlisle. No traffic and had a clear run through and was turning into go to Methodist hall in Carlisle at c,0945 ..she was 15mins early for Tai Chi and apparently had a good chat with her friends first.
I shall find a way in future to take her.

I had my heated 'waist coat' on so a minimum of weight on top. I drove to south of city and took something Helen bought for me to the charity shop. You put it in a bed so you can sit up like an hospita bed. I did need it at one time, they were quite happy at free gratis
They have to run in balance. I looked to see if they had. anything a stiff big guy could fit
into...no way.
Off to Sainsburys to loo.
No sign of Waxwings about town.
And waiting in church carpark at 1045 away by 1115 and home by1145 and tired already.

Fbg at 5:30 AM was 6.2
Yesterday went to Kingsmill hospital for monthly blood test a bit over due but without assistance though am able to drive there can’t get from car park to blood clinic and nobody available to go with me for the last few days. The hospital car park was manic managed to find a parking space after driving round the car park for nearly half an hour when we came back to the car some one had parked behind me so was trapped until they returned to their car.

Keiran bought me a heated throw for Christmas in this cold weather it’s been a Godsend especially as my right foot and lower leg is like a block of ice most of the time.

Had an appointment letter yesterday for scan of the leg for the 19th not looking forward to that as it’s at the QMC and a 17 mile trip there and then 17 miles back and I hate going there.
Any way got to be up early this morning to take Judith to work as it’s her day for working in the office rather than from home.
