What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Sorry to be slow to reply @gennepher. I fell behind again (immersed in answering email) and have only just caught up with the many interesting posts on this busy thread.

Sadly, there was nothing more you could do. Either the bee was parasitised (a common cause of deformed wings) or she had simply reached the end of her life.

Female workers with normal wings only live an average 38-42 days, so her survival with such a serious deformity was remarkable.

Tuesday's FBG 4.8 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.
I thought it was remarkable she lived that long since she was walking everywhere @LivingLightly
I got really attached to her. I will always remember that little bee.
I didn't know their life was so short anyway...

Good morning everyone on a bit of a chilly start to a cloudy day here in the dark and dangerous north. Very cold on the sea front yesterday morning so not packing away my long johns and liberty vest just yet. The slight thinning out of my wardrobe turned into some severe pruning. There are now two large bags awaiting delivery to a charity shop. Criteria for the cull - have I worn this in the last two years? Or - I wonder who this belongs to? I expect that there may be more, lurking in dark corners. Shoe cupboard next but that will be quite easy. I’m not Imelda Markos. I see that Mr King has a new portrait. Looks like the artist found inspiration in old posters for the film The Masque Of The Red Death. I quite like it. I wonder if Mr King does? He could always hide it away in an attic and see if it ages rather than him. Newly re-vamped cafe - went for a look see. Two women on the next table talking. Sounded like two completely different conversations. Tuned it out, not diffcult. A good refurbishment, disappointing ham and eggs. Ham should be thickly carved from the bone not sluiced out of a non recyclable plastic receptacle, thin as tissue paper. Mrs Miggins had the all day breakfast - a much better choice. Salad for dinner with sparrow grass. Art bit - similar to yesterday. Best think of something else for tomorrow. Hope your day goes well. I am going to make more koffy and read.
Your art bit is absolutely amazing @dunelm
I love the bold colours in this...

The way this garage treated you and their other customers is appalling. I wonder if a strongly worded letter or email to Head Office would have any effect?
More effort for you, but if they want to continue selling their cars...bad reviews and publicity are never appreciated.
Hope you have recovered by now.
I have just been invited by the garage to leave a review about them @SlimLizzy
I think you can guess where that is going...
Yes, email already sent...

Yes, thanks. I have recovered...

Well done you for managing that impossible eucalyptus repot. And to think I struggle for half a hour recently to get a small, extremely potbound shrub out of its pot. It was at a plant exchange, about a month ago, looking so sad I felt sorry for it and had to bring it home.
Edited for auto correct change. Bring became being!
Thank you @SlimLizzy for the compliment!

Ah that's better!
MrSlim has gone out to get a haircut. It's his turn to go out for lunch today so he will be back by 11.30
Breakfast two hard boiled eggs + coffee.
Courgettes planted out while the sun shone. Of course it's gone back, or forward to October temps now, according to Meteo we are experiencing a Cold Drop. Lovely. Back to winter clothes and tomatoes are back in the greenhouse.View attachment 67674here is Kiki in her new favourite place in the ootager. As you can see she is guarding the only productive courgette plant. The net is applied overnight to ward off the ravenous hares. No help at all again at the slimy monsters though.

As you can see here Kiki may have decided to have a taste.
These two photos were resized yesterday. Going to attempt the screenshot trick now. Still too large but not by much, cropped some excess grass. View attachment 67677
Lovely to see these photos @SlimLizzy

Nighttime wildlife video
Badgers - Ma & Pa Badger - no babies yet but they were late last year
46 secs

Creative...last one from the car service waiting room. A tow truck driver, his ID said so. I had been watching him for a few minutes with one of the desk bound people in the car showroom. He helped himself to that coffee from the not well maintained coffee machine just after I drew this. It is not quite a one line sketch (well it was drawn as such) but because I often get lost half way through a drawing and I do random squiggles. Unfortunately where I did the random squiggles, in this case, was the top of his trousers...there was no way I could publish that. So I got the eraser to eliminate the offending squiggle...

Time for food...

And a cuppa...

Have your best day...

That review will be a doozy. Thank you for sharing another wonderful sketch. I know you call them squiggles but that is to demean the quality for such as myself to thus refer unto them.

I think that Meteo may be onto something. Smashing images, I like the raised bed cheese thing. Pity the tomatoes had to go back into the greenhouse and hope they don’t get damaged by cold.

Morning all from a dull and drizzly start to the day in L.A. Two days of Maths based SATS for the youngsters who all seemed a tad frazzled at school pickup Tuesday. Yesterday there was a PC gently moving along those who park up the kerb/onto the pavement. I was by no means the earliest there at 2.00 pm (gates open around 3.20) so probably some overnight stays needed if this continues. Today could be interesting. @dunelm thank you for sharing today's art. Shame the ham and eggs failed to excite the taste buds but a winner for Mrs Miggins' choice. Could you pimp that meal in future? @SlimLizzy wonderful photos of your little piece of heaven and good news about the smoothing of relations with your son. @gennepher amazing ingenuity to re-pot the monster Eucalyptus. @alf_Josiah hug for the latest medical issue but as you say the side effects of treatment for the major issue are a small price to pay. @Krystyna23040 not even your harshest critic could label you lazy. At worst you are the poster gel for active recovery - think NT walks. Enjoy your Wednesday as much as possible..
Thank you @ianpspurs - I think avoid rather than pimping that particular menu choice. School run camping tent - is that a thing?

Thank you @dunelm . The tomatoes have only just recovered from the last cold spell when a large number of leaves turned purple. Thankfully night temps are likely to be 9°C or higher. So may be ok.

It definitely will be a doozy @ianpspurs

I am sorry you are not happy with the word squiggle for the sketch, but that is literally what my hand is doing.

If I can, and I could with this guy because I was observing him for awhile before he walked directly in my direction, but I do not have any observational thoughts on him, or his body, or his demeanour. And when my hand is ready, it starts drawing very very quickly. I know I only have seconds to do them. This is not a careful study of him, but more of an impression if you want to call it that. My eyes are more on the person than the drawing, and I cannot see parts of the drawing because my hand is covering it because I am using my finger to draw.

Another wonderfully expressive sketch

Me too @Lamont D warmth is good. I really feel the cold and find it difficult to do or enjoy anything if I am too cold. It took MrSlim several years to understand that it was no use taking me anywhere in winter without adequate clothing. Boots, hat, scarf, gloves and several layers were actually neccessary and the five minute delay caused by my lack of spontaneity was the better option than having me miserable and wanting to go home, because of inadequate clòthing for the weather.
Yes, I am the same @SlimLizzy.
A few years ago Mr K decided to surprise me with a trip to Vienna in March to see the lippizzaners at the Spanish Riding School which I had always wanted to do

He kept it completely secret by telling me we were visiting friends in Costa Del Sol.

Luckily he told our daughters who were horrified and told him that I would kill him if I arrived in Vienna with clothes suitable for southern Spain.

Thank goodness he did tell me as snow was still on the ground in Vienna.
