The coat is what Amazon shows in a search for Crombie coats. Obviously not made from Crombie material.

Perfectly understandable @dunelm. When a parent dies, there is such a tangle of emotions and yet it can be a blessed relief to know their suffering is over. Condolences to you and your family.

I did have cataracts in both eyes the cataract in my right eye was removed and a lens implanted last year, but I was told that the NHS would not fund the surgery on the left eye.

I have since been told by the optician who did the last diabetic eye screening this had to be done by a split lamp test because of the cataract and as the cataract interferes with the diabetic eye scan then is falls under a special criteria and so the NHS will fund it though the referral has to be done via a normal eye test.

I have had so much going on I just have not been able to book an appointment at the opticians.

Righto @JohnEGreen, so you know what to expect when you undergo the procedure on the left side.

Surgery is usually offered on the NHS if your cataracts are affecting your eyesight and quality of life, so I'm unsure why there was a funding issue regarding your left eye.

That is such a horrible thing to have happened there really are some evil people about. And now they are going to have to find some drakes from somewhere in order to get a viable population again.

Morning all on Trinity +16 Sunday - hold off on those sprouts people (they are sweeter after a frost on them) even though I'm listening to a carol from Ely Cathedral and my LC Advent calendar plus a huge tub of celebrations (for others) are being delivered today. In my diary i am reminded that today is the anniversary of the "greatest day" - sorry Gary something entirely different. I bought a dvd of Reach for the sky to watch on this date. My dad did his national service in the RAF and there were bases all over the area in which I grew up. Fbg today? probably not the 2.9 Libre wanted to show me around 6.15 - more like the 5.2 it has been from when I went for a short amble and has remained for about 2 hours. The very large duck breast and avocado salad with zoe 30+ sprinkles I had last evening is the acceptable face of Elsie imho. Pork shoulder with mucho roast veggies ingested in the company of The Little guy ©, his sister, dad and partner is today's main food event. Three years ago he (aged 1 month) and MIL ( 91 then) were in intensive care at different ends of West Suffolk Hospital - roof propped up by acrows everywhere - with versions of the RSV and another helpful virus each. As a meal, beating the pleasure of peanut butter for steroid taking (Jarlsberg and much Assam after the taste of those is compulsory) will take some beating. Enjoy your Sunday - lyrics Genn.

Thanks for the tip on steroids @alf_Josiah . As I understand it (I'm not sure the medics really do) the issue for me is that the immunotherapy so ramped up my system that it fought back with Bullous Pemphigoid and now needs to be told to be'ave itself. The steroids are therefore doing what Mrs A J does for you :)

When I had the surgery on the right eye it was done at a private clinic the surgeon who carried it out informed me that the NHS would not fund the surgery on my left eye but for a few thousand pounds I could have it done privately I declined the offer. When I related this to the optician at Spec Savers he said we would have to wait till the cataract had grown then he could refer me. Then when I had my diabetic eye screening done at another opticians I was told that part of the criteria set out by the NHS was if the cataract interferes with a diabetic eye test then the surgery would be funded I have since looked up the NHS criteria and that is the case I had been misinformed by the surgeon and Spec savers optician am a bit miffed about that.

Understood though the reason I have been taking them for do long is that my immune system was doing it's best to do me in, they did try to get me of Prednisolone a while back by prescribing Azathioprine hoping that it would allow me eventually to come off Preds altogether unfortunately the Azathioprine virtually wiped my immune system out completely white blood cell count went down to almost zero resulting in a frantic series of calls from my consultant neurologist asking me to please stop taking them as just about any infection would or could result in sepsis so I am stuck with preds and though immune system is suppressed it does still exist.

I used to wear a Crombie back in the day when two tone tonic and Ben Sherman shirts was all the fashion. My grandfather took one look at my tonic trousers, wandered into his bedroom and came out with a double breasted tonic suit that he told me that he had had since the 1940’s.
