What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.6 this morning.
We had a lovely relaxing visit to Gooderstone Water Gardens yesterday. It was so nice to see that 2 young swans have decided to make it their home.

Mr K should really have gone to his doctor to as his blood pressure readings are beginning to climb too high again, but he won't go because he was on the meds before and he felt quite unwell.I

So we have made a pact. If the new intervention I am trying doesn't work he will immediately go to the doctor.

Success - yesterday's blood pressure 127 over 69. Much better.
The pact is that he tries to remember to breathe into sides and back of ribcage when he breathes normally throughout the day.

Research has shown that people can come off their meds if they adopt this form of breathing if they were previously upper chest breathers. It also lowers resting heart rate and mine has dropped by 6 beats per minute according to fitbit.

Obviously not research by drug companies.
Very good strategy for Mr K @Krystyna23040

I should remember to keep on with the breathing exercises that have helped me...

Creative...sun is out...so took photo of my metal doorstop J bought me long ago, but is now been in the garden the last 15 years because I kept crushing my toenail to smithereens on it...and a couple of Kaleider Kaleidoscopes, the big one is my favourite....the bug is in inset so you can see where the colours come from...

Take care
Have your best day...

Thank you for sharing the amazing kaleidoscope and the source thereof. Transformed from something quite disturbing in my eyes into a relaxing pattern. Also good news on no more crushed toenails.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who are sure of their birth gender.

A 5.1 on that meter this morning.

Today is my last scheduled radiotherapy session. Number 20 out of 20. I have been informed that the effects are cumulative therefore the next 2 weeks should be interesting.

Here in Tilehurst Towers Mrs J has trimmed my beard and I feel depleted of strength probably like that biblical character.
It seems that someone has taken a shot at Donald Trump again. What is it with the descendants of our ex colonists that they are so pro guns and so inept at using them.

Stay safe all, smile and bark at the postmen it makes their day woof woof.

Actually @gennepher I am rubbish at the breathing. I teach it because it releases unwanted tension in the whole body, improves the CO2 oxygen balance and gets the facia in the trunk moving.

The only way it can move is when the ribs open and close. If that doesn't happen the facia gets dehydrated and doesn't do its job of supporting and massaging the organs. Also the lymphatic channels that run through the deep facia become very sluggish which isn't very good either.

Then I had a brainwave. I got Mr K to help me by reminding me to breath properly. That way worked brilliantly as he remembered to keep reminding me but he was also reminding himself to do it - and I didn't feel if I was nagging him.

All the best with the 20th session of radiotherapy, the after effects and a successful outcome.

Good luck with the last of the series and best wishes for the next week or so.

Morning all on a bright and cool but not really cold September morning here in L.A. Fbg was 4.4 initially at 6.40 , then rose to 4.7 after ablutions and stayed there after pitch rolling and some steps. Dropped to 4.4 by 8.27. I had tea then food about an hour ago (peanut butter and jarlsberg) and meds, including steroids, did my first 1k steps and bg is 5.7. @dunelm all the best for the journey and all that lies ahead. Thank you for sharing another splendid example of your artistic talents. @Krystyna23040 Interesting tip on breathing technique - think I'd need a video or coaching but I'll do some googling. Sunday lunch with #3 son and children was good but even a glass of red wine (first alcohol since summer madness) with the meal couldn't stop the steroid effect. I had no trouble avoiding JKP's apple crumble with cloves and sultanas - what kind of monstrosity is that anyhow? Apples and crumble topping are enough already for me - but with pudding gravy obviously. School and pre-school pickup in Cambs later then a meal with the same cast as yesterday which will be a blessing indeed. Enjoy your own Monday as far as humanly possible.
@ianpspurs really good readings.

The breathing is really easy. If you put your hands on sides of ribcage you want to feel the ribcage open as you breath in. You are doing normal breaths but into sides and back of ribcage.

You breathe in through your nose always. Ideally you breath out twice as long as you breath in but i wouldn't worry about that initially.

Good that you have finished the radiotherapy and I do agree with you about the gunmen being really inept.

@Krystyna23040 is this what you mean by that breathing technique? Almost sounds as though even I could manage that - note I said almost :arghh:
The bit about the ribcage expanding is correct but don't do the navel to spine bit as that is out of date now and focusing on the abdominals as you breathe is counterproductive. If you draw your navel to your spine and work your abdominals you inhibit the diaphragm going down and the oxygen getting into all parts of your lungs.

When you just focus on ribcage expanding everything works as it should.

Hugs that the radiotherapy treatment is now done...
You may turn into the Incredible Hulk @alf_Josiah ?

Tragic that they weren't as inept back in the day. The hatred Trump (and his mini me here) stokes is in stark comparison to this. I was brought to that clip by the attached which was part of a conversation about who to vote for between a Democrat and Republican. Not sure if you can follow the link without a subscription - £2 per month, or mine is. Thanks for the advice on breathing technique.

No FBG, ran out again!
Phone call to pharmacy to reorder my prescription.Have a feeling that I won't get the test strips.

Lovely day here but grass and garden still wet tho, so can't be giving a haircut to the lawn. bout 20+degrees in the back.
Woken by foghorns from the river this morning, and cos the sky is clear blue the number of contrails from the numerous aircraft seems like they were playing tic-tac-toe. Up there. So many flight from JLA.

Baby came round With the grandkids to pick up his birthday cards.
Can't believe he told us, he is to old to have a party. Wot! No cake!
Won't be next year!
I think he only came round for his prezzie.
Kids!

Mrs Miggins has gone to a baby shower - another detestable invention on par with stag/hen weekends, over the top halloween rubbish and expensive children’s birthday parties at expensive venues that compete with all the other parents in the class. Massive humbug to the lot.
I'm inclined to agree @dunelm. These modern inventions have little to do with our traditions They are designed to encourage gift-giving and other expenditure. They exist IMO because they're making money for somebody.

Monday's FBG 4.3 mmol/L on waking at 6.00 am.

Bag is packed ready for the 0555 train to Manchester airport tomorrow and a hopefully uneventful 12 hour journey to France. Art bit - playing with coloured inks. Hope your day has been a balm to any aches and pains.
Hope you had an uneventful journey @dunelm.
Those coloured inks are magical. Thank you for sharing
