9.5 at 05.00 today. Up to 10.1 now on the strength of a cup of coffee (decaf). I'm beginning to think that something in the decaf process causes bg to rise. BG didn't rise on caffeinated coffee or caffeinated tea but it does on the decaf products. However, I'm only 2 days on from my Covid vaccination and did feel kind of grotty yesterday, so maybe that's the problem. I'll wait for a day or so before making any decisions about decaf/caf. Nurse says to stay away from caffeine and I know it makes a difference but I seem to be back to the old question of which is more important - high BG or another medical problem.

Weather here is grey and very breezy. No rain yet, but it doesn't look to be too far away.

6.7 this morning.
We are just back from a visit to Redwings at Aylesham to meet the pony I sponsor. He actually came to see me. Often he doesn't as he has got a bit grumpy as he has got older.

It's the first time Bonnie has seen horses. She was exceptionally good. She stayed so calm even when some of the horses came right up to her. So a really good training day for Bonnie.

Good afternoon everyone on what is turning into a sun shiny day.
5.6 this a.m.
A breezy day so a bit chilly in the shadows on our walk into town and back. Mrs Miggins and her sister have gone hunting for flowering plants to fill a new planter that appeared a few days ago.
Art bit - along the coast.
Hope your day is a pleasant one. No koffy as it’s after noon but I am in the market for lemon and ginger tea.

One of those days again...

Yesterday I got another letter from the credit card bank that has not been allowing me to contact it online because it says it doesn't have my phone number nor my email address. It should have...

On the letter yesterday, it said that it was unable to pay my current credit card bill because it did not have my direct debit details and it said that my bank has stopped them. I have never paid for this account by direct debit. I have always transferred the money the moment I receive the paper bill, but the paper bills have been arriving late, leaving me to guesstimate what I should pay to their bank.

I have already paid the bill they are talking about in this weird letter, and I paid a bit extra to make sure it is covered. So I know the letter is lying...

I looked at the letter and I thought scam simply because of the details. Sent a message to ChatGPT and ChatGPT said that was an elaborate scam. So, I said I was going to talk it through with my daughter this morning. Which I did and she said immediately that's an elaborate scam.
So explain to my daughter in Australia that I've not been able to get through to this building society so she got her phone went through site found a phone number rang it. And she said that she was ringing on behalf of her mum, explained the situation. And said her mum wanted to talk to a real person face-to-face to sort this out, which I did because there's a few things to sort out. I was given a choice of times and dates and venues of different of their banks... I chose one and now I am getting ready for it with the paperwork I need.

Both ChatGPT and my daughter kept reiterating me not to respond to the one that appears an elaborate scam (but I can't telephone because I am deaf) and to give them my bank details...but the letter is absolutely perfect and looks like it's come from my credit card bank

It’s important to watch out for scams that seem too elaborate, especially when they involve requests for sensitive information like bank details. This one was an actual letter trying to panic me to part with my credit card details, but I have confirmation from my bank that I have been paying each month. And I also have confirmation from my credit card card broker company that I am totally up-to-date with every payment I sent to my credit card company...

So I'm going to get ready for that and I am not going to take the original document in that is the original letters which look like a scam in case I need to use them to go further with something and this says that I've got the proper record of something.

Creative is a painting I have done of a tree and I'm not doing a description today. I'm tired.

It is a hot day here and my iPad is heating up..

So I think it's naptime now

Take care...

That is a scary scam @gennepher . Good that your daughter sorted a face to face appointment with your credit card bank.

I love your painting @gennepher. It is very Japanese.

There are so many of these scams around Gennepher, and they are getting more and more sophisticated. I think, sadly, that we have to assume that such letters and phone calls are scams. Well done for getting your daughter involved and here's hoping that it can all be sorted out to your satisfaction.

Love the Japanese scene. When we were in Japan we bought some silk pictures of scenes quite similar to this but with quite a lot more colour. We didn't quite believe the colours in these pictures until we saw them ourselves. Apparently, back then, people would travel all over Japan just to see the cherry blossom on our little island in the Inland Sea. I don't know if they still do.

I've got the dilemma of

Plus Sainsburys don't sell decaf loose tea (does anyone?)

I have no idea how we are supposed to differentiate between genuine letters and non- genuine letters. It's because there's no difference between this letter and an earlier letter, that is if the earlier letter is a genuine letter....
Thanks for the painting compliment @Annb

6.9 this morning.
Very busy day today as it is a bank holiday next Monday so have Had to shoe horn clients in today. Luckily I do feel really rejuvenated after the break.

We drove through some really beautiful countryside yesterday. It was so relaxing being out in nature.

What a wonderful springtime Sumi piece of art - smashing.
I got an email from the delivery company EVRI yesterday about organising the re-delivery of a parcel - checked the senders email address - spam of course so reported it to the phishing email at EVRI. Can’t be too careful these days.

Good morning everyone from a not as promised weather wise start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Might just be a bit of sea fret.
5.7 this a.m.
Hunting and gathering to be done this morning so a list is well on the way. I prefer a list instead of browsing but do compare price per kg/ltr. The small print is getting harder to see now so I sometimes take a picture on my phone and zoom in.
Art bit - turned out to be some trees.
Hope your day goes swimmingly. I shall finish my koffy and then get on with the shopping.

Good morning. Fbs at 8.20a.m. was 10.9.
Two friends visited us yesterday. They brought beautiful flowers, a Get Well card and a bottle of alcohol free sparkling wine to celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary in retrospect. ( I don't drink alcohol as it doesn't agree with my medication). We opened the wine and shared it. I had a small glass but of course it contained sugar! I provided snacks including cheese so I ate some of that hoping it would avoid a sugar spike but who knows? Anyway we had a lovely time catching up and putting the world to rights. LOL I had a phone call this morning from the hospital to say that my blood test on Friday was normal so that is one less thing to be concerned about. Have a good week everyone with my best wishes.

Morning all on the first secret socks day of 2025 here, although 23c is on the cool side for shedding layers for me. Due to doxycyline making my skin extraordinarily sensitive to the sun various precautions will be needed when it becomes warm enough for me to actually sit outside. My fbg is a mystery for now so I'm a bit of a fraud in this thread. @dogslife yesterday sounds like a lovely surprise. @dunelm thank you for today's art and the polytych last week. @gennepher thank you for sharing all your creatives., yesterday's was wonderful. Enjoy as much of Monday as possible.
Update: warmer outside than in, bordering on agreeable :D

Caffeine- great for blood sugar, terrible for sensitive bladders

Ditto. I apparently have what the GP calls a "mitochondrial disease" which leads to all my muscles getting weaker and weaker - hence my contact with the incontinence nurse who advises zero caffeine. She's right about the effect on my bladder but that doesn't help with BG. Which is more important? The bladder thing is an inconvenience, but the BG thing can be dangerous. No contest, I suppose. Maybe I should only drink water.

We only have Tesco and the Co-op here and neither of them sell decaf loose tea. Online it is ridiculously expensive.

From what I can gather, the process of taking caffeine out of tea and coffee shouldn't add anything that would affect BG but there is no doubt that it does (for me anyway).
