What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I am so glad you have found some family.
I even remember my father's brothers family visiting us early sixties before emigrating to Australia from Liverpool. Mrs L has family in Perth. Cousins, etc all over the place.

Going back from Mac, leads into relatives from Scotland...so it seems I am in the melting pot from English, Irish (Southern Ireland), Scottish (or do I say Scots?), and Welsh...
 
5.4 this morning. The best reading I have had for absolutely ages.

We are at the little village hall wheee i run my Wednesday morning classes. Mr K is taking Bonnie for a walk around the field while I relax here.

I am being really sensible and gradually building up the walking after my calf now. strain. i am up to 9K steps a day now.
 
Morning all from a breezy L.A. My fbg was 4.4 and as I type it is 4.2 still fasted except for tea. Breakfast will be taken shortly then I may will watch some rugby. @gennepher what a lovely surprise which, hopefully, helps you to feel that you belong in a wider family. Thank you for sharing that church which reminds me of the one on my old dog walk route. Our grandson called it heaven.

I had a surprise this weekend.
I belong to 2 Ancestry sites that I have had DNA testing done with...
One is Ancestry.
One is MyHeritage.

I've got a message from Australia asking me who I was in the family tree. She gave me a little more information....

I replied ... and she tells me who she is in the family tree...

It turns out we share the same great grandparents who emigrated to Australia in about 1926. And so we are second cousins...

This is the first indication I have had of a real alive living human being, related to Uncle Mac, my birth father.

I have always felt all my life, that I did not belong, a lot of my writing and poetry reflects this, and so to go from only having a birth certificate with no name of either parent, to real named people who are showing a willingness to connect and communicate is absolutely amazing....

I have sort of been, phased out today...on a different planet...

My creative is a painting I did of a ruined church some time ago...

Weird weather today. At one point so hot and scorching...and now the temperature has dropped...to quite cool...

Good morning everyone on a cool, Cabbage White ladened melee with a smidge of Red Admiral start to the day here in the ark and dangerous north.
5.6 this a.m.
It’s out for lunch today with friends that we have not seen in a while. A halfway meeting point, that’s the ticket. Somewhere where it looks like a tie in a pocket just in case should be considered - or just live on the edge and wear a rugby top!
Art bit - well there are dandelions about.
Hope your day does right by you. I shall finish my koffy and think about the things I will get to do, including folding this washing into the ironing basket - exciting stuff!

8.0 this morning.

I have just had the rug pulled out from under me by the endocrinologist. I had my one week review for my insulin pump and I assumed that we would just be changing a few settings. Turns out that we did do that, but also my insulin resistance is unusually high and I need to start on tablets. Due to pancreatitis and metformin issues I need to start an old school one which has a potentially higher risk profile and side effects.
She will send me information, and we will discuss in a week when liver blood check results come back.
I can understand all the things that she says, and if she says as a diabetes specialist that we have to manage this better then I do trust her experience. And she found something as low risk as possible given my situation.
I suppose that the blessing here is that she can see what is happening much more accurately on the pump and seen this issue, and that my quality of care is better because of it.
But I wish she had given me a heads up at the last appointment that it may be necessary. I feel like I've had enough health surprises to last a lifetime.

Trouble is, with the Libre packaging, it has to be taken off undamaged, because part of it is used as an applicator for the sensor. Loads of cardboard here with all the Amazon packages. A Stanley knife is an essential in this kitchen.

That's hard @Peanut 234. Still, better to know what you are looking at, and to feel able to trust your consultant.
 
4.5 today at 05.00. Feeling really grotty (must be "keto flu" although I'm not sure that that usually includes diarrhea) and have eaten noting so far. Plan was to introduce a very little carb element today. Plan B is to eat nothing - everything that hits my stomach, hurts it. Just having water and coffee. Then, of course, BG decided to drop into the 3's so had to have my black coffee with a spoon of sugar in it. That's brought it up into the 5's. I'm happy with that.
 
I ordered a couple of vines from Amazon, to plant in front of my old Leyland Cypress which is dead from the bottom to halfway up but very lively above that. I thought a couple of vines climbing through it would disguise it. What I ordered was: one ivy and one clematis. What has just arrived is: one gardenia and one camellia. Not sure that either will do very well in this climate, so I'll have to try to sort that out. I could have planted a rose, but I wanted something evergreen, since the Leylandii is evergreen at the top. I'm saying all this as though I will be doing it myself. Neil has agreed to plant the climbers for me, when they come.
