Hopefully once again Neil is right and the car makes the round trip and the ultra sound scan is helpful. Interesting question about supplements and a real minefield over what counts as good food in this brave new world of (very) alternative facts. I hope the day goes well and you can settle your own mind over supplements.US liver scan this afternoon. Neil says the car will be alright to make that journey - only 7 miles each way, so it's all systems go!
BG 4.7 at 03.40 today. Up to 8.9 after coffees and breakfast, but I daresay it will go down fairly soon.
What do we think about supplements (pills)? My brother and SIL are recommending Vit D3 to try to help with inflammation, which does seem to be a major issue with me. I've never been a great one for taking supplements, thinking that good food should be enough. Not so sure now though what with diabetes, arthritis, liver and kidney problems, very delicate digestive system, inflamed gums, etc. All associated with inflammation. But if I start with Vit D, would I be then needing some other vits/minerals? How many pills would I end up with to add to the pharmacy drawer in my kitchen?
When tidying up often find the thing I was looking for last week, but only rarely the item I am actually searching for.Oh what treasures to be found when tidying up!
@Annb I take VitD3. It's the only "medication" I use, vitD3 helps to support the immune system, so may well help with inflammation.US liver scan this afternoon. Neil says the car will be alright to make that journey - only 7 miles each way, so it's all systems go!

Snap! That is exactly what happens to me @SlimLizzyWhen tidying up often find the thing I was looking for last week, but only rarely the item I am actually searching for.
This bleach painting is great.... @dunelmGood morning everyone from a bright and sunny start here in SW France where internet connections work a frequently as builders when the week is full of Saint days and Pont days.
No blood letting this week - the Gom Jabbar was left at home.
Last full day here before returning to the UK.
Great time with mum. New game - list a few musicians, singers, bands that you would like to see at a concert and then find videos of them on YouTube and enjoy the show!
Found a Tangram game with black tiles cleaning out a cupboard so we set about trying to make the shapes - what fun!
Art bit - we have been playing with inks, water and bleach. Mum has recently bought a glass dip pen so might have a go with that today.
hope you are all as well as well can be. I best make some koffee.
I'd be interested to see the result, if possible. DIL bought one for me some time ago but I've never really been sure how to use it.This bleach painting is great.... @dunelm
That glass pen sounds fantastic. I have two of them and I carefully put them in the box with Cotton wool when I have finished with them to protect that tip.
In one house I lived in, @SlimLizzy the cellar which I stored stuff in, filled up completely with water at spring tides or very high tides etc.23.07.

Less than a month before we have visitors. The situation is getting worse rather than better. Or at least it feels that way. Last week MrSlim and HH excavated around the cellar air vent. Which is actually a blocked up window. Dug down about a metre and used breeze blocks, render and bitumen to make a waterproof wall. It worked as far as it went. However, the lower, unmodified part of the blocked up window continues to let in the water through the degraded cement. Which was already starting to wash out during the last downpour. So to me it all needs to come out AGAIN and be redone to the full extent of the ex-wndow. You can imagine how popular that opinion is. I suspect it will be a job for the autumn, if it ever gets done.
Then there is the beautiful shiny kitchen floor. The top layer of varnish has started to peel off. Wrong product used. So need to get it all off before it can be redone. It's very slow work. With a stiff bristle hand brush. Unfortunately have discovered it's at least two layers that need to come off. More work and time.
While waiting for the worktops to arrive MrSlim has been working on the shower room upstairs. It's having a new toilet and washbasin as well as a different configuration to allow a small sitting area adjacent to the balcony. We were not happy with balcony access only from the shower room. This involves blocking up the two doors to the landing, making it an ensuite, and rerouting the piping and soil stack. Oh and a new floor to replace the badly wormeaten one that was existing under the mouldy carpet. ( long since gone to the tip)
So currently shower is upstairs, toilet and washbasin are downstairs in the utility room.
We still have no useable kitchen. That has sctually got further away with the floor needing refinishing. Living room is upstairs in what will be the master bedroom with ensuite. Where our guests are to sleep. The downstairs salon, id full of stuff: furniture, flatpacked kitchen, Other boxes, and even if we emptied it is unusable without considerable work to make it safe to occupy. Because of the poor condition asbestos panelling with flaking paint and on top of that the wiring was so unsafe that it had to be disconnected and there isn't even a light. Am trying to remain positive, but the amount t that needs doing feels impossible in the available time.
A good solution for you, but our boiler and hot water cylinder are down there, so not practical here.In one house I lived in, @SlimLizzy the cellar which I stored stuff in, filled up completely with water at spring tides or very high tides etc.
So that was one useless cellar.
Builders tried to offer solutions which were costly, and I said just order a lorry load of cement and pour it in and completely seal it off.... Problem solved...
Hug for all the frustration and hard work needing to be done. You are right that the work around the cellar air vent needs to be done properly, but can't that be put out of mind for now, being less urgent than the rest of the house? Does the kitchen floor need to be done with a hand brush? I have a rechargeable battery operated scrubbing brush with a long handle - very stiff and effective. It's not meant for commercial or heavy building use, of course, but something like it might make the job easier. The rest, is still a daunting task, but surely your guests know the situation and will be understanding of the hardships you are suffering.23.07.

Thank you @gennepher and yes, the glass dip pens are quite delicateThis bleach painting is great.... @dunelm
