What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Today 6.8 which I am not surprised at as yesterday was a food disaster. Was making my lovely salad to take to work when the top (which was broken) fell off of my pepper grinder and the whole jar emptied into my salad. No time to make a new salad so I hoped it would be OK - but it wasn't and I couldn't eat it. So was starving when I got home at 10pm and had a a heap of cheese and a load of cream in my coffee.

Today's stir fry for work all prepared with no pepper disasters. Doggies walked - no rain yet. Relaxing drinking coffee and catching up with this thread.

This thread and its previous version have helped me understand my diabetic or lack of control.

Agreed. For me context is everything and maybe that's part of being autistic. All I know is that when someone reports their FBG along with the context it is taken in, then I have a better understanding of the mechanisms involved.

Here we report our readings entirely in relation to the current environment, mental state, diet, and location events. For me, that is important in evaluating how I (personally) deal with my journey. Being a loner by nature I do not have a social circle for comparison, so this thread provides me with that.

I think the mods don't understand that there are a lot of people like me, and that data isn't just a number. I spend too much time teaching aspies that data out of context is not the best way to go in any scenario.

Hug for #peppergate - (I have never considered pepper in/on a salad). Sounds like today is all sorted and tomorrow's reading will be back on track. Nice example of @OldButBold's point about the context of data being crucial. Have a great day.

the Body IS a wonderful and weird being, that stays very tight lipped about it's secrets, don't you think ?

Thank goodness we have THIS forum as a conduit for some pertinent information, i frankly would NEVER have known about if it wasn't for the good people on here...(B12 depletion not even mentioned by any HCP :wideyed:)
@jjraak I agree - the body is very tight lipped about it's secrets. I also agree that I have learned so much from this forum that I would never have known about if it wasn't for the good people on here.

Best perspective I have read on Johnson and Trump etc came in Zechariah 11.4 to the end. Enjoy your day.
Good to see that even when your personal problems are testing you enough to sink a battleship you still care about all even the state of world politics, what a mess. When the world lacks statesmen and governments fall the paths are open to despots and dictators, dark times indeed.
On the positive I sincerely believe that the majority of people in the world are good and decent, just wanting to be happy, fed and warm. This forum is a good example of the warmth and love people have for each other and I'm sure such feelings will conquers in the end.
Whoops I'm getting all philosophical, sorry.

Maybe instead of Sea Shanties at our folk group rehearsal I should get out the Protest songs :singing:

No, stick with sea shanties. I very much enjoy listening to Fisherman's Friends collection and now you prompted me I found the Yarmouth Shantymen. The personal problems are neatly separated and dealt with best one at a time but thanks.

good morning all :)

4.4 today

it's cold but bright here this morning and we may go out to do a bit of shopping later today.

We've still got mum's little dog with us and will hopefully know by the end of the week whether these medications are going to help her, some days she seems quite well and lively, some days not so well, plus she has always been quite a fussy eater and isn't eating much at the moment. Mum is getting a visit every second day and twice daily phone updates ;)

Hope your day treats you well :)

Oh, I don't know, @ianpspurs , my food stamp allowance has been increased this month, and that is a federal government program. I'm not about to bite the hand that feeds me. My rent has not increased, despite the rumors put about by the prophets of doom. There are a couple of things I would like to see Trump tackle, but so far he and his administration have done me nothing but good.

I will say nothing as to Boris, it would be out of place for me.

I don't know about the majority, but IME while an awful lot of people just want to be happy, fed, and warm, they don't give a flying bat if anyone outside their immediate family circle is; in fact, they seem to believe that if anyone is not happy, fed, and warm, it is all that person's own fault and s/he doesn't deserve to be happy, fed, or warm. JME.

BTW FBG 6.4 this Tuesday morning. Shoulder a bit better but still uncomfortable. I have never experienced anything like this before, pain unrelated to any injury and not responding consistently to any treatment. All that is happening is that my digestion is being thrown out of whack by all the OTC pain pills I have been taking.

Ah yes, but crooked Hilary would have fixed your shoulder and personally driven you to the town to which you want to move. Not to mention ensuring you premium seats and hospitality at any equine event of your choosing.:angelic:

Hope you had your volume turned up as we put together and performed a great version of 'Farewell sweet lovely Nancy' especially for you and a bit faster than it is usually heard.

That's so very sad @SaskiaKC you would love the community we live in there are 40 houses here and without exception young and old, including the much maligned UK teenagers, are lovely friendly people always willing to stop and chat, help each other in a crisis and show care and give time to those who need it, maybe we are just lucky but I still have faith that this is true of most people, I wish you could experience it.

So all that Sea Shanty Singing did wonders for my BG 5 before dinner, ahoy me hearties.

@ianpspurs that is so right @OldButBold 's point about the context of the data being crucial is really relevant.

I've just been thinking about this too, what you and @ianpspurs and @OldButBold posted ...
Last night the book I ordered arrived. It is an original UK edition of an English girls' horse book I first read nearly 60 years ago. I own a copy of the US edition but I wanted a UK edition. I started reading it and was curious to see how the American publisher had changed some of the "English" terms. Some words were "Americanized" while others were left in the original. The American publisher of the Harry Potter books did the same thing.
As to things in and out of context ... I was thinking that it would have been much better, for the readers, had the US publisher just left the original words. Reading books is the best way I know of to increase one's vocabulary, and many words can be understood from the context.

I wish so too. :)
