Morning...despite full on sunshine it's freezing here being a southern 'softie' the heating is going on!... in a bid to curb my internet purchases I am now engaging in 'trash' shopping...buying lots & lots of useless objects & gadgets putting them in my shopping basket and leaving the web site before completing the purchase...so far it seems to be working... some clocks reset and wondering if I am brave enough to do the one in the car...it's complicated and I may have to read the instruction manual...no...I'll just wait six months then it will be right again...woke to a 5.6
gennepher the satisfaction of looking at rubbish I'd have bought the following morning is overwhelmingly satisfying...to strike them off one by one is very cathartic... so with an empty basket I'm off to make more coffee.I do the same!!
From what I've read less is better. The way I look at it is we have a dads army inside ready to battle sugar. The fewer times they are called for duty the better.Good morning everyone from a, so far, very dark but not visibly dangerous north.
The wonder wheel of out for dinner with some of our offspring and their offspring heralded a 5.3 this am. Must have been that all so lightly applied tempura on the whitebait. Never mind.
The purpose of the dinner was to catch up with grandchildren really. Oldest, 15, is going to Iceland with the school on a geography trip - she is already packed and raring to go. Her brother, 10 who plays football for the county, is off to Barcelona for a football tournament. Never had these opportunities when I was at school (there was a scout camp once to the Isle of Man) so very pleased that they get to do these things.
Like others on this thread and elsewhere in the multiverse, I am constantly surprised at fasting readings and the ups and downs of the life of blood. With the libre I sometimes get a lovely flat 8 hour line with a constant reading of about 4 or maybe 4.5 or for no discernible reason at all 6. Other periods, it’s like a roller coaster - the night before last, during sleep, it went from 5 down to about 2 then up to 6, down again to about 2; two more bends and twists and then “wake up, here comes Mr Liver”.
Although I do low carb - I do find that too much protein, especially later in the day, can mess things up. So, as I only really eat twice a day, I have most of my protein at around lunch time and the rest for dinner. I wonder, as I write this, if I should eat more often but smaller portions - snacking so to speak - but then what would it be? Beef broth is always good. Crackers - I do need to make a fresh batch of crackers today.
Have a wonderful day if you can, have a read of how the inventor of blood sugar tests had to wait 13 years for compensation https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50156965
That must have been a terrible shock for you. I can see from looking at your subsequent posts that you are back to normal. I'm so happy to read that.17.8 for memix up with insulins last night took bolus instead of basal so have had a night of ridiculous lows and highs correction dose given so hopfully levels will settle.anyway have a good day everyone
What a challenging time you are having. Really feel for you. You should just be able to get on with your life. Hopefully the canula changes implemented have sorted things for you.A belated good morning to you all, I have been busy teaching for the last couple of weeks so have missed a lot so I will give hugs to those that need them, High fives to those who need it and a massive well done to everyone, just because. I have been unwell lately with exceptionally high readings (average of 28) due to my cannulas not playing well with others, so a truly massive amount of insulin required, displaying symptoms again and just generally feeling ill. I have now changed cannulas and have readings back into single figures and long may it continue, as I feel that if it happens again I will just throw everything in the bin and go on holiday! I have been battling the meter of doom quite hard, but unfortunately it has been sat gloating with glee as it constantly threw numbers at me that would make your eyes bleed. But we live to battle another day.
Take care everyone.
You are doing brilliantly - so many people with T2D would have been helped by you giving up your weekend.Wonderful day. Travelled down from Blackpool at silly o'clock in treacherous weather so tired when finished.
I decided to use a spoon.Dare you!
Enjoy.
It felt very positive. I loved it.You are doing brilliantly - so many people with T2D would have been helped by you giving up your weekend.
Nice one, @Debandez5.4 - testaurant/pub dinner - late night steak, peppercorn sauce salad followed by cheese board (2 small round crackers) 2 glasses of red. Place rammed. We spotted a table for 4 with a couple on it and asked if they minded if we joined them. What a lively couple. Meeting them for coffee later today here in Llandudno. Sun is due to shine.
Yesterday felt very positive. Met Dr Joanne McCormack (fat is my friend on twitter). Really lovely person. And a lovely nutritionist called Sian who is and ambassador for Public health collaboration. PCH stall. Selling books. Helping with any questions the public had where we could but Joanne was amazing. Lots of diabetics came over. Type 1s and 2s. Lots of low carb talk. She was able to help them so much with GP advice.
Wonderful day. Travelled down from Blackpool at silly o'clock in treacherous weather so tired when finished.
Fab venue. Right at the side of conwy castle.
I chickened out, used a spoon for the cream!Dare you!
Enjoy.
