What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

As I first started reading your post I thought of it as a response to maybe @ianpspurs about our lives in general ... and then I realized ... your post sounds exactly like my idea of an ideal life. Just ambling along enjoying the scenery and chatting with other people who are of like minds and interests. And then the sit-down for a meal.

Actually it's kinda like my life was for some great years -- spending a lot of time standing around holding the lead rope of a horse who was grazing along outside the fence, just standing around in the peace and quiet and not wanting to be any place else on earth ... wet or dry, mud or dust, just sheer joy.
That really does sound idyllic - the sheer joy of just being in the moment.

Difficult call so hope that you are happy with your decision.
My mother in law is looking to move to an independent living apartment and we are hoping that the transition works for her.

I hope it will too. Please give her a hug from me (if appropriate) I live in an independent-living, government-subsidized, senior apartment building, and the new one is one too. My best to your mother-in-law.

Just in from a nice afternoon catching up with an old friend, lots of tea involved. @ianpspurs hope you have had a happy birthday and maybe indulge in a little tot of what you like before bed. @SaskiaKC thank goodness the panic has abated I was worried for you and the KC. I think the older we get its the people (and pets) we love that matter the most, anything else is very much unimportant. If we ever move it will be a small move for the removal firm as most of our furniture is destined for the tip. The photos and the boys’ files will be the most valuable.

Glad you had a good day. Birthday was good thanks but no alcohol will be involved - haven't drunk any since Boxing Day. Not against it in principle and have plenty in the house but I can't see what place it has in my life just now.

Lots of disturbed sleep seems to be the theme today. Disastrous 6.2 when i carried out my annual birthday check. Probably linked in with several joints being wholly sub optimal and weekly weighin marginally up (still bmi of 22.2). Filling up with protein lasted 2 days and is the obvious candidate. Given the choice between hungry and tired or immobile the former wins. May try again later in the year but today is naproxen and tea day - also sure I must return to the avoidance of coffee . 2 viewers today so need to be mobile enough to help Julie dress the set. As a balance to that I know I am blessed to have only these issues and to have had 64 years - many don't. I have plenty of forebears whose lives were cut short fighting for their country or by illnesses - in a few cases the very illness they specialised in treating. My food choice problems would seem like a choice of banquets for much of the world I also had the priceless gift of being born into a hugely loving extended family and marrying someone who is a perfect foil for my foibles File under 1st world problems and sense of perspective,

Many happy returns Ian, it seems the older we get the more blessings we have to count, hope the viewings went positively for you, and have a lovely evening.

Glad you had a good birthday. You have done really well not drinking alcohol since boxing day.

Thank you. Hug.

How do removal firms there charge? The ones here are required by the Department of Transportation to charge by the hour, or by the mile, instead of by the size of the load, and there is a 2-hour minimum. Two years ago I needed only a smallish truck and two moving men to move from a small 1BR apartment to a studio. That didn't affect the estimates I was quoted, which was a very unpleasant surprise.

That sounds very controlled. Were there not any smaller, less structured companies that offered better rates? Or a ‘man and his van’ (and mate)?

Morning all and happy Corpus Christi day. Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday. No reading today as the joints issue probably related to some virus so I will learn nothing useful about impact of food and next bloods not until mid December. Unsurprisingly, low cals and carbs yesterday meant 3.30 wake up but it is light early and warmer than winter so all is well. Have a great day. @Krystyna23040 not having alcohol is easy but begs a big question. When we move there will be well over 250 bottles of wine and spirits to be moved but if I don't find a place for them in my woe what exactly is the point? Boys bought me a very nice bottle of Speyside single malt with a personalised message as a combined Father's day and birthday present no inclination to try it yet. Feel a bit guilty as they clearly knew what my preference was.

Hope you’re feeling better soon Ianpspurs.
I’m also ‘awake’ with the birds this morning- and I really would like more sleep!
Fasting bg is a miserable 7.2 this morning.
☹️

Your post made me think of my mother. During the war she and her best friend worked on a base in Corpus Christi, Texas. I think I still have some of the pics from a visit they made to Mexico during that time. :)

@SaskiaKC I hope the memories provoked are happy ones. I would find it quite upsetting to think I had disturbed you in any way. @Krystyna23040 hug for early waking and high fbg. I will be fine with plenty of tea and anti inflamatories. @karen8967 hope the low wasn't too bad and the rest is good - take care.

@gennepher I have often thought if I had to get out in an emergency what would I take?
I would take the 2 dogs, my phone and tablet, my little book with all my passwords in (I am at that age!) and the fire proof box with all the important documents in. Otherwise the rest is just stuff and stuff can be replaced.

I forgot. I need my password book too! And tablet and phone!!
Right,we are all prepared now!!!

Thank you so much for your prayers. An update: I just got off the phone with the guy. We had a really nice conversation and he cleared up what I misunderstood yesterday. He only wants to start the paperwork at this point. He will send me a letter, then I will start getting the paperwork together and send that to him, then he will process it, and THEN I will need to get a ride up there for an interview, and to see the property.

So now I am breathing again! Now I can relax and enjoy more coffee and an actual breakfast, sit back and watch the rest of these races today. Absolutely pouring down at Ascot but I do like the Union Jack umbrellas.

Keep celebrating your big day today! Praying for you too. :)

Wow.
So it is going well. That is brilliant. I am glad.
When we first get information we don't always take it in, or it is not explained properly the procedure and our brain goes into panic working out mode.
Mine does!!!
Relax now!!!
