What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@PenguinMum -- of course! you are absolutely invited. I'm sorry you missed the posts while you were away.

@trick60 posted:
If ever this thread ever has a meet up, I sincerely hope we get to have more than a few pints of the black stuff and giggle stupidly at stuff that should be far too serious to giggle at

To which @Debandez replied:
We need to do it! Would be great.

To which I responded with the emoticons ... and so it went ...

Welcome back! :)

5.8 at a more civilised 6 am than the 4.30 am of yesterday. Good morning all.

A day of entertaing the other two members of the Recorder Quartet as we have a long rehearsal session planned for our next gig which is fast approaching and I am struggling with some of the faster sections on my bass recorder.

Find your ear plugs everyone, your sure going to need them!

Fbg 9.1

There's a reason for that.

Yesterday I found something in the freezer I bought that I had thought was within the carbs I can eat, and it was. It was 15 carbs. But when I looked at the ingredients closer, there were 3 different kinds of sugars in it.

Shall I eat it? Shan't I eat it?

I had been looking forward to it.

So I thought I was eat it, check my blood sugars and see how much and if it increased them.

I knew straight away when I finished it that it was going to raise my blood sugars. It did. And they were in the 9's the rest of the day. Before bed it was 9.8.

I woke up at 4 am. Blood sugars 9.1. Another reading at 6:15. Again 9.1.

I don't know exactly what chemical reaction those 'innocuous' sugars have had in my body. But what it does inform me is that I do not eat anything away from my bungalow at all, unless I can be certain there are no sugars at all in it. Which is pretty nigh an impossibility. I am having another meal with friends in about 3 weeks time. The pub has been decided. And I will scrutinise the menu in the meantime.

So, back to inside my bungalow. I will scrutinise again everything I have bought. And bin it if it has the suggestion of sugar in.

So yesterday eating that was not a mistake (buying it when I was tired was), but deliberate to see how it might affect me.

It will take me at least up to 3 days to get back in to the 7's again.

So shopping this morning. One shop. One aisle. One particular type of food. Scrutinise every packet.

I will be lucky if I don't have a security guard hovering over me.

Oh yes, and my magnifying glass.

Have a good day.

Take care.

Good morning Prick and Tell massive. Great start @HarrisonK and @Muddy Cyclist - enjoy the early walk and the recorder rehearsal (Mrs MC making up quartet?). Another hot day in the lowlands and elsewhere before the descent into permagloom and ridiculous amounts of layers. Hard to evaluate a 5.7 fbg at present - not good enough to be safe but with plenty of distractions currently it may be a good effort. I guess I can't expect to be able to judge how to view, then deal with, this until after the weekend. Something is clearly off as resting hr not back below 60. Enjoy your days and sorry if this seems like a downbeat post - hopefully I will be able to look back and say LC held up amazingly during tough times.
@gennepher sorry to hear of the outcome yesterday but full of admiration for the resolve to take control of your health. Go you - as I have actually never heard anyone say.

And this is my magnifying glass. It folds up small for my bag.

5.8 this morning. Once we have done the doggie walk will catch a bus to Norwich to visit dentist for a check up. Then will have a lovely day wandering around the shops and at least one coffee then a lovely relaxing bus ride back home through the countryside. So nice not to be driving.

Husband really happy that he isn't wandering around the shops with me.

It is not a downbeat post @ianpspurs
Life and blood sugars has ups and downs.
You are doing brilliantly.
I gave you winner because you are one.
Have a good day.

I like your resolve. My own chimp sometimes sees something and screams, “go on, you can have that, you know you want to”. Getting the chimp back into the box can be a problem. Small treats though need steely determination - very small portion after some food and then test after one and then two hours - if you get a spike - chuck it in the bin - if you don’t - have a nibble the next day.

Oh I love this...now you ate ALL in my gang :)

Good morning everyone and welcome to another day of potential Kentucky fried people. We have been promised some rain and perhaps an audience with the Norse God Thor.

The wonder wheel of “oops! Have I broken the power washer?”, reluctantly issued a 5.1 this am.

I am being left unsupervised for the next few days so luckily I can get out in a few minutes and go for a walk.
Rest of the day is pretending that I know how to sort out a power washer and then getting on with a few more maintenance jobs before the heat of the midday sun drives me into the shade. In all honesty, the power washer may have just overheated but I am not telling anyone that flimsy tale.

Have a wonderful day if you can, hugs to all who need one.

good morning all :)

4.1 today

off for a quick shower now, must feel squeaky clean for my 'appointment with a vampire', it's that HbA1c blood draw time again ;) and, coincidentally, it's the day designated for my diabetic retinopathy check. The appointments are in the same building ... 6 and a half hours apart.

We have a full day program planned, appointment one, then a snack :D, a visit to the garage to get a tyre repaired, followed by a trip to the recycling site to get rid of some garden rubbish, then we'll probably go for a walk, have lunch, visit mum and do our shopping before the second appointment.

Hope your day treats you kindly :)
