What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning Diabetes Massive on #Realbinday, Pumpkin picking with grandchildren (probably JKP only) and Feast of Sts Simon and Jude - busy, busy. No idea of my fbg today and increasingly uncertain how tracking that meshes with longevity, functionality, contentment not to mention global warming. Being 66 I am prey to declining muscle mass - sarcopenia - so I need more protein and an exercise programme that takes account of my biomechanical oddities. I think the lowest fat (how does fat build/maintain muscle?), lowest emissions for protein come from fish, chicken, pork and low fat Greek yogurt. This (and several other sources) would seem to support that but I am obviously subject to confirmation bias. Three consultations with physios have yielded a follow up MRI (tba) and a self referral to a local gym - also eliminated neuropathy as an issue. All good but six years here have left me bewildered about a practical low carb way to implement this - keto is wrong for me P:E needs tweaking. Frustrating, but since I keep waking up God obviously wants me to continue pursuing this. Anyhow, Yodel did the business yesterday and JKP was happy. @Krystyna23040 yesterday sounds divine. @dunelm thanks again for the art and brilliant, subtle, Cher reference. Y'all have a good day now - grief allowing. I think Bono and chaps - bit arrogant to dub oneself The Edge but a fine axeman - are where I'm at dietwise - faithwise I'm fine thanks chaps.

Good morning everyone on a fabulously quiet beining to the day here in the very dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of leftover colcannon with some re-fried chicken came in at 5.8 this am - don’t talk about the pudding.

Not a great deal going on yesterday in our neck of the woods. No protestors sitting in the road covered in ink, no little bloke showing off by waving a big red box about and as far as I know, the only efluent release was from our local MP. We are off the the land of Durham this evening - wedding reception. Nice to be invited, wonder what the buffet consistes of. Always a bit of a chew peeling slices of pork pie, eating the fillings from Vol-au-vents with a teaspoon, bogarding the chicken legs and generally being awkward. Might be a hot buffet though; pea and pie super, chicken in a basket (what was that all about) - but probably not.

Art bit - spray bottle and ink drips. Have a wonderful day if you can and remember that you can turn back time this weekend so Cher that arround. Time for koffy.

Very effective spray bottle and ink drips @dunelm

Simplified version of where my thinking is at - always has been actually - attached. Deceptively simple but so hard to turn into something I can actually live out. Zeroing in on carbs alone isn't enough - probably necessary in some way for T2 control but far from sufficient for functionality and total wellness - just lazy thinking. The donut is a utterly lame IMHO. Simply avoiding obvious carbs isn't how it works nor is carb dodging per se from my experience. How does anyone ever fit enough protein for a P:E approach into IF/time restricted eating? Still, absolutely worth the time, effort and frustration. You think Tom Brady finds it easy? Brilliant quote in that link about craving Pizza :woot:. Too bad he eats bacon though.

Good morning everyone on the morning after the night before in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of “BBQ at a wedding reception - nice” came in at 5.8 this am

Heineken zero - OK when ice cold (so is everything else I suppose) - don’t switch on your newly installed heat pump - any increase in temperature, even just an unnoticeable smidgen turns the pleasant mood down several notches - lets have some red wine instead, we are safe with red wine, we know about red wine, it can tolerate sitting in it’s nice glass, on your table for ages and ages (not as long as Miss Havisham though, stabbing at the wedding cake). Still, the bride was a picture of wonderfull, the groom managed not to consume too much of the drinks plied his way and the mother of the bride began to relax. Father of the bride of course, a job I once enjoyed, less bewildered and did indeed remove his tie without getting into trouble (after his wife removed her rather flamboyant headpiece). Home before the carriage turned into a pumpkin. Kettle on for tea - RIP boiling water, you will be mist. Today - still excitingly unknown.
Art bit - sometimes these things work, sometimes they just - meh! Have the best day that you possibly can. Time for the deliciousness that is koffy.

Fbg 6.6

Was doing spray water and a different black ink pen. I was drawing the cherry tree in my front garden. The spray water did, well something to it...
So I introduced watercolour...colour is not my thing at the moment...
Then the sun shine blindingly white out of a grey sky, and vanished.
Here is the result.

Fabulous - beautiful autumnal colours. I do like how this has turned out - what paper are you using?

5.3 this morning. Very sore arm after the booster jab. No press ups today, but luckily I can still hold a cup of coffee.

Beautiful sky this morning but has now clouded over. Hopefully another good admin day.

Wot, another Friday (Brenda from Bristol?) we had one only last week. Great meme again @karen8967, tinged with sadness for those sepia coloured memories of my salad days. Friday meant Football, cricket or gym after work, then an alcoholic haze, some sleep then managing a school team (send a reliable boy for pork pie and can of coke) shower and on to my own match, rinse and repeat then xcountry run Monday morning before fighting the forces of darkness and evil as first head called 'em. @Krystyna23040 hug for the sore arm but it is still good for the main event(s). @dunelm brilliant post until this monstrosity: Time for the deliciousness that is koffy. Rescued somewhat by the art and this gem: RIP boiling water, you will be mist. @gennepher I really like today's creative, thank you. Had to retrieve a poorly 2 yo from nursery - not a mask in sight from staff or other parents, no hand sanitiser outside - I wonder why case rates are rising? IDK my fbg or what I'd do differently if'n I did. Play each ball on its merits Ian but stick to the shots you're good at. If you can't play "the ramp" well/to that ball don't try you numpty. Y'all have a good day and KISS.

Thank you @dunelm
It is a sketch book I have had a long time and never used. I only bought it for the hand made reclaimed banana fibre hard covers! It is from Seawhite, paper is 140 gsm, and is recycled cartridge paper. 40 sheets. I don't think it is really meant for what I am doing with it!

Interesting use of colour @dunelm

Thank you for liking today's creative @ianpspurs
At the shops this morning, there was no sanitiser in both shops I went in. The sanitising station was bereft of both hand and shopping trolley sanitiser. I carry my own hand sanitiser anyway...

I have an affection for Cherry Trees. Helped my dad gut and renovate?* a house called Cherry Villa:woot: and then we had a flowering cherry in the last place (I will have one if/when I return to Cambs alive and sentient). Hug for the awful situation when shopping. I had to go in search of Calpol - very hard to find - and the recklessness of staff and customers astounded me.:banghead: Where does the idea we're safe now come from? The attached may not be Hogarth or Gillray but spot on. He will ace the next GE on current form - as Call me Dave put it, he's the greased piglet. I absolutely get why my family and our "circle" turn a blind eye to his incompetence and lies but "the paups" - what's in it for them?? You take care.
*horse hair and lime plaster - wow. No face masks back in the day:banghead:

Ah! KISS - one of my favourites from army days is P^6 : Prior Practice Prevents P*ss Poor Performance.

Always a good idea to carry our own hand sanitiser - we seem to have a drawer full of handy little bottles of it.
