What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.
A 5.7 today.
Stay cool, stay safe and get your name in for the Tory game.

Morning all from a more or less the same but increasingly less cold Suffolk. I managed to bumble my way through another day by doing all the right or wrong things so I'll try again today. One of the very right things will be to care for and treasure God's gift of a >1 y.o. grandson. Naturally JKP and I will do it all wrong in the opinion of some or other soothsayer in exactly the same way that all we imperfect humans do every day. I'm thankful for the sharing of your creations @gennepher and @dunelm. Great step count yesterday @dunelm - will you pay the price today? Enjoy the sun or shade, company or solitude, noise or quiet - etc, etc today. Meanwhile, elsewhere ;) Apparently, if bankers et al can keep more of their bonuses the cost of living crisis will melt like snow. Has no one been awake for the last almost 50 years?
I may pay for it later but at the moment, Mrs Miggins is out on her regular Monday morning koffy and chat with her friends. So, peace, quiet and a bit of shade.

Hi

Yesterday was me flaked out again when I came back from early morning food shopping.

Midnight was feeling the heat. He was like a melted puddle of black fur, and so I introduced him to a personal fan, to keep him cool I told him. Look I have one too.

His eyes opened wide, and wider, then ATTACK...

Not the fan, but the hand that held it...owwwwww....the fleshy part of the base of the thumb, he sunk his teeth in it. Not a scratch or drop of blood, nor a tooth mark, but it still hurts 12 hours later.

Fans going galore here. Fridge gave me a hiccup yesterday. Door didn't shut. Icebox had frozen up too much...

Panic stations. No time. Put ice maker on to churn out ice to make a temporary cool box. Ice maker spits out tiny pieces of ice...too hot for ice maker.

When it came to turn fridge back on, it is dead as a dodo. Real panic stations now. AMAZON. Order fridge. Pay extra for it to come today. Go back to my fridge. Still dead as a doornail. Then, suddenly a cough. A second cough...then my fridge trundles into reluctant life. Wait 5 minutes. Ice box is now freezing up. Rush back to iPad. Cancel the fridge order. This morning the fridge is happily gurgling away...

Bye ...

Creative is Laboscope app pointed at a personal fan. And fartnarkled....

Fans everywhere, especially in kitchen which was over 30C yesterday. It faces due south. Never again. Next kitchen is going to be in the West or due North.
A hot cuppa now

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who struggle in this heat.
.
A hmmm 4.3 this morning for me, brain numbing calculations to be carried out to establish a safe amount of insulin, a new variable heat stress is in the mix, it’s a good job I have my trusty and slightly rusty steam powered slide rule, more heat.
.
The advice given yesterday by the BBC was to adopt a Mediterranean life style during this heat wave, I’m part way there with the afternoon nap, or siesta, but I draw the line at dunking toast in tea while drinking wine for breakfast. On that thought stay safe, stay cool.

Morning all after a day when the Red Tops of Yore would have declared Phew, what a scorcher. More to come and even more hotterer. @gennepher hugs for the hand injury, scare over the fridge and hot kitchen. Somehow I can't get my dim head around Wales being hot - I need to sort myself out. That creative looks like a lion to me after watching so many kids cartoons. Thanks. Grandson has a throat infection and antibiotics so he was not here yesterday but will be today as he slept, ate and drank after a few doses of said medicine. I hope everyone enjoys or copes as best they can in the current weather and wider context. Stay hydrated which "they" tell us means avoid alkerol. That email/ whatsapp/ memo/tweet etc always seems to get lost as soon as Brits see the bar open at the airport. Who really needs Jägerbombs for breakfast? Possibly too judgemental/woke for 11 people.

Ouch for the attack on the hand. Big winner with that fridge. Sometimes the refrigerant needs a bit of a rest if it gets confused about what state it is in (liquid or gas). Sometimes a flick on the pipe at the back will coax it back but a rest can work just as well. Wonderful colours again - that fan looks like a butterfly.

My French brother in law (RIP) used to make a cafetière of koffy before going to bed and then heat the contents in a microwave for his breakfast the next morning, dunking in day old bread lathered with butter - let us all know how you get on.

Hope grandson throws that infection quickly but signs look good.

Good morning everyone from a wonderful breezy start here in the dark and dangerous north. After a full on morning of peace and quiet Mrs Miggins and her sister had at it again ‘sorting out’ stuff in the garage and the shed. Me, in full on supervisory mode kept mainly in the shade, provided drinks and substituted as a circular saw with a bow saw when a rather large and very old cobbled together bench needed halving. I did salvage a rather nice Draper vice from it first. There is another such bench in the garage with an even nicer, cast iron vice that will be salvaged today once Mrs Miggins and her twin sister have got said bench out.
Art bit, not so much as colouring in but colouring about. Have the best day that you can, I shall go and make some more koffy.

4.6 this morning. Did dog walk at 6am and it was lovely and cool then. Relaxing for a while and then so must get on and answer some emails.

I think Mr K deserves a gold star. I was moaning about how much time it took every time a class member asked me how many holidays had they used from their holiday allowance. When i got back last night he had devised a system that meant it only took about 10 seconds to check how many they had taken. Brilliant - it will save me so much time.

I do hope that your hand is OK today @gennepher and good that you were able to cancel the order for the fridge.

Indoors is currently 26C, Kitchen is stuck at 30C and I need to cook sausages for tomorrow for son. Outdoors is 22.1 C, and rising.
Wales can be hot...

Glad grandson is okay.
