What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning all from the wonderfully blue skied Brecks where we are promised 20 degrees C for 3 days then 19 for the next two. Rishi has made things better already. I'm not sure how they spin integrity with Suella making a comeback but they are trying, very trying indeed. @dunelm thanks for the art and enjoy the rest of the back pain course which sounds as though it covered most angles. @gennepher thanks for the video and creative. @SlimLizzy good news on your French being good enough for the vet. As you say, your grandson's appointment not being urgent sounds hopeful. @alf_Josiah enjoy the coffee shop experience. Interesting week here. No 3 son and granddaughter escaped injury - or worse - on Monday evening when a van hit the car door just after he took her from the car. She was still in his arms and the car is likely a write off. Man in the van drove off but the police and insurance have been informed and son has pictures of both the driver and van. Last night JKP felt poorly so went to bed early. I isolated myself in another bedroom and this morning she has tested positive. Bearing in mind my treatment and elevated risk squeaky bum time BUT if my faith means anything now is the time for trust in God. I am allowed free NHS tests and treatment which I'm taking as a sign of His help. Tomorrow will be our 38th wedding anniversary but any celebrations apart from exchanging the cards and presents we have will obviously be on hold. No hugs needed but prayers are welcome. Stay safe and think of others.

5.6 this morning. Archie made it to the park - so he is improving day by day.

The Dereham Ukraine Aid Charity has asked for donations of warm clothes so I sorted through my two double wardrobes and found some lovely warm and virtually unworn fleeces that I have bought in sales and then decided the colours didn't suit me.

Great that they now will be put to good use.

Will definitely be saying prayers for you and JKP. Good that you are getting free tests and treatment.

Hugs may not be absolutely needed, but have them anyway. So relieved to hear that your son and granddaughter were unharmed (probably truamatised though). Do take care of your own health. As the saying used to go "the gods help those who help themselves". Medics and medicine are all very fine and, heaven sent, I'm sure, but we have to do our best as well. I can see that you are already doing that - good on you. Have the happiest time you can manage on your anniversary. Prayers for all of you.

Neil is still very under the weather and his chest is sore. But I feel that he is improving today. My chest is sore as well and I'm being careful not to make matters worse by spreading whatever it is around. Today's event cancelled for me - just to make sure I don't pass anything on to anyone else.

Thank you for the hugs and promise of prayers @Krystyna23040 and @Annb. I've just been reading this article which is quite apposite just now imho. I will be looking after myself as much as possible Ann and so must you. Yesterday I read a passage from Phillipans 1 where Paul felt conflicted between the joy of being united with Jesus and this life (Phillipians 1, 23:24) My basic position is that for JKP and my family verse 24 is the route God wants me to take - the road less travelled in my younger days but exactly what I promised 38 years ago on the morrow. Have a song ( Lyrics.) - he's from Cambs. Relax, we got this.

Just so Ian. V24 is the preferred way, until a decision about that is made elsewhere.

Just as well I've decided not to go out this afternoon - apart from the tight chest I feel OK but there are others to consider and, as it happens, my legs are not behaving today (with Neil being unwell, I put the bins out for emptying and by yesterday late morning I could hardly stand, never mind walk). Physio says I should be doing more exercise but my body begs to differ. I'll listen to my body because it knows where it's at. The physio only knows the theory.

My late mother had SLE and obviously needed lots of medical consultations. My dad was fond of quoting what he felt was the best advice they were ever given: be your own detective. Rest those legs for now.

@ianpspurs
Good that son and granddaughter escaped injury.
Here in Tilehurst Towers we hope that Mrs JKP has a mild attack of covid and you manage to avoid it totally. Protocols are in place for the extremely vulnerable if they catch covid, which should have been sent to you, if not pm me and I will try and dig them out.
Good luck to you all.

Thanks @alf_Josiah. I have both the protocols for that and a little card I must always carry informing medics I am a chemo patient at risk of Neutropenic Sepsis with an emergency helpline if I develop 3 fairly common symptoms most obvious being temp >38C. Take care and thanks again for the offer of information.

An interesting telephone call from a cold caller today.
He asked me what my address was.
My reply 'Cloud Cuckoo Land. Narnia. You reach it through the wardrobe'
Cold caller - 'how do you spell Narnia'. This was a really serious question - surely he must of realised that I was being facetious.
He then asked for the postcode. I gave him a made up one and he said that his computer didn't recognise it.
I gave up and put the phone down.

Hello friends!
Long time no speak!
I've been under quite of bit of stress this last month so I'm sorry I've been so quiet. In saying that my diet hasn't been the best and I've been having over 50g carb a day which isn't usual for me. My fbg was 6.4 this morning and it has been in the 6s for a few weeks now. I think I need to get back to 25g carbs per day or less.
Hope everyone has been well x

Good morning All
9.10am FBG 5.6
Day before my second son's birthday and I still have not got my head round the French postal system.
My mother is recovering slowly from her fall, grandsons appointment with the specialist has been put back, we are all taking this as a sign there is nothing terribly wrong. MrSlim is working too hard in the garden. He has several projects in mind and is trying to get them all finished before the weather changes. Today he is moving stones and building a herb bed. Have been helping but am expected at a coffee morning today, plan is to stop for an hour only. Kiki had her medicine, she didn't like the smell and is a little out of sorts this morning. Esp as she is not allowed out to 'help' MrSlim. She thoroughly enjoyed exploring the new structure each time it changed and charged around the house excitedly when we collected stones from the pile at the front of the house and transferred them to the site of new herb bed round the back. Totally exhausted by the end of the day. Have made her an appointment for her second set of jabs by phone this morning. Very pleased with myself as I managed the whole conversation (admittedly brief) in French. Maybe I will be able to grab enough courage to make a dental appointment for myself soon.
Happy Birthday to second son. French postal system - disastrous is the word that springs to mind, with a Galic shrug.

Thank you @ianpspurs and what a dog day afternoon for you. Thankfully No3 son and granddaughter escaped without physical injury and hope that your split house regime works for you and that JKP is not hit too hard. All the best on your 38th - celebrations will resume shortly.

Good to hear from you and sixes will be fine and the last thing to sort out if you are stressed. All the best

What fun. Small opportunities for a bit of jollity should always be embraced

Good morning everyone on the last day of the back pain course which I have found extremely useful. Repeats of day one base line exercises today and one to one feedback sessions. Some good take home strategies to incorporate into daily life - just have to remember to actually carry them out. Art bit - another quick sketch - must pack away my things and put into the car. Koffy first, have a wonderful day as much as you can.
