What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a very noisy start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. The Ninky Nonks are up and about, playing with newly acquired toys and having a whale of a time - wonder how that happens? The good thing about Orcas is that they do killer whale noises. Little Miss Pamplemouse is sensibly sleeping through the whole thing. Swimming is on the cards today but I am giving it a miss. Art bit - some more detailing. Have a wonderful day if you can, I am going to make more koffy.

Very vertiginous @dunelm

I need a lie-down....

Good morning everyone from The Brecks where there are big tears for Holy Innocents Day which some scoffers will just call rain. Tea from a teapot is a vastly superior beverage to that made via teabag in a cup. Who knew? :D IF today so black Darjeeling until about 10.00 am then Assam with almond milk. Lovely as it was to share Christmas with the Winchester gang, sleeping in a blow up bed for four nights wasn’t the most restful experience. The sofa and that bed were not good for this tatty old tent but half a day here has made a big difference for the better. @gennepher that creative is very autumnal as has been said. Thank you for sharing and really good news on the soy cereal drink.@dunelm thanks for sharing the latest installment of your art. Enjoy the Ninky Nonks - was that Orca quip an oblique reference to MM? either very brave or very foolhardy; vote now via the red button. Some wonderful accounts of the love shown to refugees from Ukraine this year (with a focus on Christmas) on the radio during our journey yesterday. Today’s poem links well and is a reminder that Christianity has a much harder edged message which just doesn’t "shift product" and interferes with "cultural Christianity" as per Polly T. There is cultural/professional Social Democracy as well Polly and they align remarkably closely imho. The uniforms are interchangeable Yesterday's poem and art also have a harder edge - crux. Here, today will be/has been (yes, I am) a day collecting thoughts then dogs before a limbering up for a second Christmas as understood by those living 800 ish yards away and those from Cambs: You?
Thanks @ianpspurs

Glad to hear you are a bit more rested since getting back to normal.

I slept on a camp bed, and then a sofa bed for about 3 years to be by my husband at night while he was in his hospital-type bed. It wasn't a lot of fun. My aches and pains got considerably worse during that time, but maybe they would have done anyway - no proof that it was the sleeping arrangements.

5.6 fbg yesterday, 6.6 this morning.
We arrived back home yesterday after a wonderful time with our family.

Received a really sad phone call from the husband of a long term friend to let me know she has died 2 months after receiving a shock diagnosis of cancer.

Although we haven't met up since they moved away 30 years ago we wrote to each other regularly and I really used to enjoy reading her letters. I still am shocked by the news.
Hugs for you @Krystyna23040

Morning Team D.

An unsurprising James Bond Today....007.0 FBG.

Yesterday's visit went better then I think either of us hoped .

Journey up was fine (M1. Until we hit 30mph traffic by Dunstable ) which added an extra 30 odd minutes on...(sorry Ian, your post arrived too late to help us )

As for the day itself.

Tone was set by the eldest daughter.

( I had offered to drop & return.
Day wasn't about me in anyway, so a low profile was my intention.
And I thought the day might be very personal therefore better without me being there.)

Any longish journey in the car creates a stiffness in my leg on exit, for a good while.

So limping up the drive, a beaming daughter & mum in doorway.

Daughter greets me with a "*** , don't milk it, just get on in here "...lol.

They had known & been very supportive of Lauren after the accident, so was kind of nice to see that banter was very much a given.

My attempt at keeping a low profile totally blown out of the water, by that embrace of boyish banter

While the reason was very personal to Lauren, because of the nature of the day itself, it was nicely balanced.

The younger sister arrived with two of the kids, one hers, one her sisters (all part of the job sharing looking after mum)

We were all seated at the family table, in front of us, for what could have been a marvelous Xmas party spread, laid out for us.

While I was welcomed, fed & watered very warmly.
I was the only male.

So I was party to an awful lot of girlie chat, some a little fruity, much rehashing of old stories & tales...each more OMG, than the last one, apparently.

And the pleasure of seeing Genuine moments of giggling at such tales.

There was, of course a few heartbreaking moments of incredible strength, tinged with unbelievable sadness.

It was a lovely & vey moving day.

Bravo to the family.

Was it not for the discussions around the 'enemy at the gates'
it might easily have been mistaken for just another joyous visit from an old family friend.

I'm sure there are harder times ahead, and our help if needed has been offered & graciously acknowledged.

We left after hugs all round.

Lauren a little teary once safely in the car, understandably.

I guess a lot of reflection going on as we drove back a little quieter then we journeyed up.

Tired after our journey but I think imbued with the love we saw around that table, which I pray gets them through the months ahead.

May God bless them all.

That sounds one amazing day @jjraak
The sort of day I was half expecting (hoping) you all to have.
I wanted to say that yesterday but that would have been presumptuous of me.

The mum is surrounded by an amazing loving family.

And yes, mum was indeed surrounded by love .

That must have been what you were hoping for. A day underlined with sadness but with many shared happy memories. It was so good that Lauren was able to go there and be part of the family circle. It will be some kind of support for her as things get harder to bear. God bless you both and the grieving family.

Feeding the birds is getting expensive this year, mixed corn is up from £8/ 25 kilos to £13 now and 25kg peanut kernels now well over £40.
We are feeding c.40 Tree Sparrows + GS Woodpeckers and usual suspects.
No wonder eggs are expensive I wonder how many bags of corn they need for 30 chickens per month?
We have a male pheasant comes who cleans up fallen food thus robbing the Yellowhammers and Chaffinches. I keep threatening him but he takes no notice.

It's a bit of exercise each day going up my steep rear garden to keep vertical with my stick filling my five feeders.
One also has to move them round regularly because birds foul the grass with droppings.

As I came away a fierce small male sparrow hawk zipped through hoping to catch a bird that was not as aware.

Sounds like a good day. 5 stars and a Lone Ranger sherifs badge for taking one for the blokes.

Fbg...
I've been awake since 2am, and eaten at 3am, so I will wait until I am more my 'normal' hours tomorrow. It is looking like I am having a bit of a blip!…

I got cold and wet while food shopping yesterday, despite wearing rainproof stuff...took me the rest of the day to warm up...

Wildlife camera...

Foxes & Cats on the nighttime wildlife camera...
Cat Jade who lives on the swing
Cat Midnight, checking on his best friend Jade
Ghost Cat, a brief appearance
Skinny Fox, eyes in the bushes
Foxy Loxy, who mooches around every night.

Creative is a digital painting of winter. It poured with rain all day at the shops and when I came back home. Closed the curtains, too gloomy outside...this painting was how I felt yesterday...

Time for a cuppa!

Sorry to read that you are having a bit of a blip and hope that it’s nothing serious. Stay warm, electric blanket to the rescue! Smashing winter art.

Good morning everyone, it’s picking up already here in the dark an dangerous north. The Ninky Nonks have already had breakfast and are busy enacting some prophetic Christmas tear jerker staring Kan-you West and Meghan Mouthwash about fallen stars (almost) working as bin collection operatives’ apprentices while waiting in eager anticipation for the arrival of the real bin lorry cavalcade parading gaily down our street this morning to check out the accuracy of costumes. Art bit - all ready now for some colouring in. Have the very best day that you can have. I am in full skiving mode this afternoon but before entering that luxurious state of being, I better make koffy and sort some breakfast out for Little Miss Pamplemouse who has just woke up.
