What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Hello from not quite The Brecks and not quite The Fens where it is thoroughly dreary me dearies. The air temperature is fine for the season but it feels much colder. @lindisfel hug for the regime this weekend and I pray everything goes well on Monday. @gennepher thank you for sharing the creative. The sky captures the variety of colours often seen at dawn/early morning perfectly so don't be so hard on yourself.. @dunelm good news on your sister being on an upward curve and thank you for the latest development of the reassuringly solid structure. Earlier, we saw some wonderfully graceful, sleek horses and enjoyed the on again free coffee in a well known grocers. Small Epiphanies. Currently watching Spurs and seeing what the dogs make of their first bones - beef ribs. Hopefully your day will please or even delight you but some days are diamonds, some days are stone. Pretending otherwise helps no one.
Thank you @ianpspurs and whatever your day, each one is a gift .

Sorry your sister had to be taken back into the hospital but glad to hear that she's a bit improved. Hug for her, and for you and yours - you must all be feeling it as well.

What a very unusual bridge. I can see the canal now. Very complicated shape to draw. The finished article is really going to be something!
Thank you @Annb - it’s all up and down now, as these things sometimes are.

He thinks he is a grown lad - much like my eldest grandson - but as with my eldest grandson, A hae ma doots! Eldest grandson is, in fact, my step-grandson, born into a dangerously violent marriage and with a very troubled childhood. Not the same as H, but who knows what damage life has done to him? Spoiled brat, maybe, but his surroundings and his lifestyle may have done quite a lot of damage. Some young people don't grow into mature adults, their emotional and spiritual growth is stunted. Oddly, seemingly like H, my grandson is absolutely besotted with his wife!
Nothing wrong with being besotted, I can still remember what it was like when the sap was rising in the tree!

I think that that king Eider is lurking about again
Yes, Dunelm thanks, it is being reported on birdguides from time to time. It's a second winter male so there will be slight differences to a full plumaged male King Eider. It would be nice to see if one could travel, I am restricted to looking at pictures although theres a couple of rare geese just down the road here on the Solway marshes.

Hi all,
I start a very low food intake regime from this evening till Monday lunchtime.
No solids just clear liquids, I am taking a special drink to empty my bowel tomorrow, then a CT scan on my Colon on Monday am at Carlisle hospital. Oh I can have some ice cream for breakfast tomorrow.

Apparently I am not up to a colonoscopy so it has to be this way instead.
Oh they are pumping me full of CO2 so I shall be combating climate change in very small way unless jet propulsion sends me to the ceiling like a balloon with escaping air.:)

It will be interesting to see what's going on.:)
D.
A hug & best wishes for Monday.

A funny for the gallows humour.
A lot to be said for laughing in the face of adversity.

<Respect>

She was taken back into hospital on Tuesday and heavily sedated but is now on an upward climb thanks to the excellent staff in the palliative ward. Now bragging about massages and another brain scan (so that’s one character in The Wizard Of Oz eliminated).
Hugs to you all .

Sounds like she's getting very much the best of care .

Hi Ian,
Do you get to walk at Lakenheath RSPB ...very like the fen was on a wider scale. I think our American cousins do a lot of practice with their noisy flying overhead.
D.

A good day yesterday.

A Decent fbg ...and the weather stayed mainly dry.

A simple wander out on the Ebike gave me so much joy, it turned into a 17 mile round-trip through some park & Riverside pathways & walks.

Really starting to feel like my old self is beginning to return ( with some obvious limitations)

Took a few gratuitous pics.

Slept really well last night.
Awoke very refreshed with another 6.1 on the Richter scale.

While talking of the Ebike, while I think many on here are of a 'certain' age, it might be applicable to some or their family members ?

It's a bit of a minefield out there

With the bad knee/leg I'm not able at the moment to place too much weight on the pedals, so a normal bike is challenging for me.

With the boost I can manage to cycle, likely better now then I ever could ....lol.

Anyway, many older folks or those with limited abilities find them a revelation ( as did I )

At 24v 10ah I get a real time range in not too hilly London.
( Takes bridges in it's stride ..ate & spat out nearby Putney hill for reference )
of 20 miles per full charge.

Range is a very contentious and almost mis-advertising.
Buyer beware, indeed.
(See the lower range quoted as likely and the upper end as extremely optimistic)

So more then happy with my buy.

The UK is limited to 250w
Range is important
As is amp hours .

Just be aware many online are selling illegal (in the UK) anything above that.
And throttles that propel past
6 mph..also illegal.

If I had advice for my next buy.

36v minimum 48v preferably.
(Above is available at higher costs then I could justify losing while parked )
10ah or above.
And most definitely a
Throttle for pulling away from lights & junctions .

Enjoy the remains of the day.

Thanks @ianpspurs for the sky compliment...

Never really been to Lakenheath much but thanks.. We did look at some houses there but the place itself appealed less than here. One son lived on the edge of the base which is really in Brandon. He was really in Eriswell but is near Ely now. This looks interesting as I really like Chippenham. It helps that it is in Cambs, has a good farm shop, really attractive cricket ground and church.

Sounds like a great day with an obvious impact on mood, sleep and fbg. After your journey through that infamous long, dark tunnel the sunlit uplands are very much in sight. Delighted for you.

Absolutely so. But I know of 2 adult men - other than H - who continually tell everyone around how wonderful and talented their wives were/are, who never grew up emotionally. One my grandson, the other a cousin of my husband's. Both could cause an argument in an empty house. Maybe they really wanted the security of a "mother" to take care of them. Perhaps H did as well.

Went to Brandon Country Park one evening some years ago to listen for Nightingales.
We soon realised we were in the wrong place when all these cars turned up with just one man in each one for what I thought was a gay meet up. We soon got out of there, we were obviously interlopers!

This bridge is shaped to allow the horses pulling barges to cross from one side of the canal to the other, without stopping, when the towpath changed sides.

So my ebike that has been known to reach 45mph on a sheepish downhill would be illegal in UK where I bought it?
8.45am FBG 6.1

Good morning everyone on what was a very quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north until Mrs Miggins and the girl in the bubble decided to wake up and make demands. I have already provided a bowl of Weetabix and a mug of tea. I expect that a walk into town will be on the cards so it will be fun getting blown about in the wind. Other than that, we have relatives coming over for dinner and a catch up. Art bit, the snake bridge is now finished so best find something else to do. Have a smashing day if one passes your way. I shall attempt to finish my koffy before more jobs are thought up.
