What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning team D.

Seem to be over the worst of the recent illness.

Fbg might actually begin making sense once more, though still currently still circling the Bond Zone. (7.1 this AM)

Still have a cough & sniffles, but they're both producing less & less, so quite bearable.

With the flu/cold of late my progress has slowed, no gym last ten days, but should be back this week
And hopefully getting back on track.
I may be returning to work mid February if everything continues upwards. So fingers crossed.

A day without duties for me, today.

With no Frankie to walk, a little TLC & tinkering of scooter to get it ready for it's MOT is on the cards.

Nippy but bright if not outright sunny, here in the capital .

Stay safe all.

Morning all from a foggy, grey, cold but still as a mill pond region I really struggle to understand or take to my heart. I feel guilt over that but lying won't change anything. Yesterday went as well as I had any right to expect. Like those times the ball flies off the middle of the bat making that wonderful sound and fielders only move to search for the ball. Procedure ( plenty of jell/gel/jelly thanks) and instant very positive feedback as required which is really what I was expecting from that. Spurs won and showed some ticker. Today is a CT scan on the current enemy within. A much more clear and present danger . What lies within is an inconvenient earworm, especially on these days, but imperative that I and my handlers know how the battle goes. @SlimLizzy hug for the anguish over the cats which does you credit I'm more inclined to see the human aspect as the tragedy there. I'm unsure the cats had hopes and dreams though our dogs dream so perhaps cats do. @gennepher thanks for sharing the creative in which I saw the cats. @dunelm thanks for sharing that impressive piece of art and enjoy the meal. @Annb that is a long haul for Em's big sister. Main roads in East Anglia should be fine. @Krystyna23040 hug for the traffic issues but as you say delays can be frustrating but not terminal. I hope we all somehow feel today that someone, something beyond our understanding or lady luck has managed to look upon our infirmities, and in all our dangers and necessities stretch forth thy right hand to help and defend us. The BCP has some wonderful words and sentiments even if you think it is nonsense.
Glad that yesterday went as hoped and best wishes today for the CT scan. Hope that, and the results go equally well.

The A47 is a bit of a nightmare at the moment. The traffic lights at the roadworks between us and Norwich are set wrongly. They only allow 5 cars to go through at a time towards Norwich but allow dozens to go though from Norwich when lights change. It is taking Norwich bound traffic an hour to get through the lights.

Hopefully they sort it before we leave for classes in Norwich later this morning.

Dog walk is delayed until 10am when hopefully the pavements will be a bit warmer.
Knowing the incidence does put jams into perspective.

But can't help thinking most of ours here if not just manufactured by the powers that be, then very much enhanced by them, with the authorities willfully ignoring the consequences.

Not far from a major arterial road.

A junction near us has traffic that can back up for miles at rush hour.

Traffic heading east has a filter lane & light for turning right off that major A road
But as lights change to green, it gets stopped by the pedestrian crossing a short block down.

That jams up the junction.

Cars can't move into box area & turn right, until it clears, by which time lights have changed
So queue behind it swells.

When lights change traffic crossing over, gets jammed up, 1,2 or Maybe 3 cars can cross.
last one over usually blocks up junction...because the crossings light are back on...
(So that traffic backs up & spills over into local side streets
Which are all one ways, that push traffic back onto main road )

Now when lights change again westward flow of traffic is jammed up..etc etc etc :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Simple solution, move pedestrian crossing down. Phase light at junction so pedestrians can cross there safely

But there is already a pedestrian crossing that's a block down from the problem one...and they don't want to move that one.

A traffic free city, might be an admirable aim..(if an awful lot of reality was overcome )
But at least let's deal with the issues as they present themselves honestly.

The one above in my example makes that junction dangerous for all.
Many cut in, run the lights, dash across road, Yadda Yadda.

But it does 'prove'
A. Traffic is terrible, we must do something..(cue almost unavoidable fines ££££)

B. We say its about people, but we'd rather like how much money it generates more...££££.

Soapbox away,
Carry on.
Nothing to see here

Yesterday went to buy some English plaster. Sad story of a failed project, family arguments and two beautiful young cats looking for a new home. Their original owner has already left and the remaining couple have three weeks before they put the house, gîtes and the other buildings up for sale. Lovely friendly boys, brothers, but we cant take them... wish i knew someone who might.
Hug for the family row

And hopes the kittens find somewhere soon.

Brilliant the first went so well.

Best wishes the CT scan follows the same trajectory.

Must be baffling the talk of new managers...he's not doing badly I'd say.

I think mourinho, poch & tuchel been mentioned.

Obviously the board are waiting for Potter to become available. ..lol.

Best wishes .

DIL will be in Norfolk at the end of February to take one of the pups to its new home. Em's elder sister will be doing much of the driving to give her confidence when she sits her test in May - it was to have been last week, but was cancelled due to the snow and ice (just as well, I don't think she was quite ready for the test due to lack of practice).

Is driving on Norfolk roads allright for a learner? She should be experienced enough by the time they reach Norfolk from Ullapool. Might not be a very fun trip with 7 pups in the back for much of the way. I think, by the time they get to Norfolk, though, there will only be one.
I'd say the biggest worry is fatigue

At first it's all wonderfully exciting, then it just become monotonous.

Mile after mile looking the blooming same ..until you stop thinking ..and that's when the traffic slows...... quickly...yikes.

For me, as cold as it is..each hour or earlier if needed, windows opened.
Stale air pushed out, cold air happily imported .

A real wake me up.

And of course a proper break/s on a journey that long .

Best wishes she has safe travels .

@ianpspurs i do feel for the family, who have lost their dream as well probably tens of thousands in money. I only hope the relationships can be restored. But at least they have some control over where they go and what they do.
The cats have none.

Of course, there is always a risk when driving but I think they should be OK. DIL has done similar trips very often in the past - she actually for a while drove a lorry for a brewery, delivering all over the country, and last time they had pups to get to their new homes she did a similar trip, ending in Derby so I don't have many worries about her ability to cope with the boredom or fatigue. Possibly the worst part will be controlling all those pups for comfort breaks along the way. Of course, there will be breaks at every delivery point and they are intending to take 3 days to do the trip.

Good morning everyone on an overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north but the sun is making some effort to make an appearance. Mrs Miggins has gone to take the girl in the bubble to nursery. Her smaller backpack and water bottle is working out well. White cards have had a showing at a footy match in Portugal - designed to show recognition to clubs for acts of fair play during a match, in a bid to 'improve ethical value in the sport'. What should we have next - answers on white card only. Another birthday today - son in law - early evening table booked at an Italian Resaurant - fish it is then, and a salad without dressing. Art bit - adding more texture. Hope everyone has a good day. Careful out there, plan for a longer journey if it’s icy. Local camel racing is cancelled again! Where’s that koffy?

Thank you very much Ian...

@dunelm @jjraak and @Annb plus @alf_Josiah thanks for the good wishes and hug. CT scans aren't a problem as I just lie down. The issue is the results and the unspoken knowledge of what the known unknown could mean at the most brutal. No man, or woman, knoweth the hour but that is viewed as an inconvenient truth in modern society. @jjraak the noise around a new manager is an attempt to distract from the fanbase wanting Levy/ENIC out. Stories fed to tame media outlets. Good news on your gradual recovery but take it easy fella.

Was replying in terms of 'ems sister' but now I've re-read it, I noticed she not a new drivers she hasn't passed her test yet, so motorways won't apply .

Good she's got such an experienced driver with her

And good to note it's over a 3 day period .
Ullapool/Norwich coming up as just under 600 miles

As for the Norfolk.

I went from london to Birmingham..almost moved up there.

Biggest thing was how SLOW everything moves or seems compared to the hurly burly of London traffic

I'd think that in terms of home v Norfolk might be a factor .

Drive calmly , ignore the speedier types, eyes on the road & stay in lane , would be my top tips.

Good there's a navigator assisting with the sat nav instructions .
Hardest part of driving in any new area .

I think Norfolk roads are OK for a beginner and are probably no worse than anywhere else so I think that your DIL will be fine.

Not a good night - one of my suffocating dreams (first in months) left me unwilling to try to sleep in my bed any longer. I did doze off in the big chair though. FBG 6.5 at 2.45 am, but now (7.15) up to 8.9 and rising. On my 3rd cup of tea - Em arrived a few minutes ago in her onesies and is currently snuggled in a blanket in the big chair and drinking her tea to wake her up. It will be time to cook breakfast for her soon - she wants bacon and egg, as usual. That'll be after I finish my tea.

By the way, the spelling of "onesies" is a guess. I have no idea what the correct spelling should be. Apologies if anyone objects.

Extra hugs for you @Annb
Onesies is what they are called...

That is a nightmare and really should have been sorted as a priority road safety issue. Your fix would be a really simple and sensible solution to the problem. But obviously they don't do simple and sensible.

Traffic lights on A47 sorted yesterday. They changed them to 50 vehicles going through each way instead of 5 vehicles one way 50 the other way. Not surprisingly it made a huge improvement. Really strange that it took so long to sort out as it caused utter chaos and mayhem.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and safe travelling to those on the move, no I don’t mean the pop group from the sixties, call the fire brigade was a hit, I mean those committing tyres to ashphalt.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.5 .

Well fellow painters and posters yesterday’s cold weather caught me out around lunch time and it was jelly babies to the rescue before things got bad. Drat the cold and being physically active.

Today is plinky plonky lesson which will mean walking then fingers stomping over the keyboard, sometimes melodically, but mostly not, it is not unknown for me, me’s and myself to give my teacher earplugs at Christmas.

Tea is drunk, covid test prior to lesson is done -ve thankfully, still to do is lots so it’s time to wish you all well and stay safe etc, etc, etc.
Now safety koffy calls.

That's Em off to school so now I shall think about some insulin and some breakfast. BG currently 10.2 on the Libre, so about 11 or so on the fingerprick - that's an estimate. I know by now what the difference will be. At the lower numbers the Libre is about 0.2 lower than the fingerprick but at the higher numbers, it is about 2 whole points out. It's not high enough for a correction dose - the breakfast dose should sort it out.
