What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

We have a photo, taken one New Year's Eve, of Great Gran using a straw to imbibe from a 2 litre bottle of single malt we bought her. That night she needed one person to pull her up stairs and two to push but slept like a log. She was in her late 80s then. Nan London (MIL) also runs on blended but she is more than welcome to the run of the cellar. The finest malts with cask numbers and certificates of authenticity were consumed by No 1 son and a cast of thousands while myself, JKP and No 3 son were in France.:bigtears: BTW, this may interest you, or not.
Thanks for the reference Ian.

Thank you all.
Definitely a cat bush telegraph network...
I have just stopped my jobs for the day, and I am sitting in the front window for my last hour of sunshine...
I was hoping for similar here, after Errant died - but I haven't seen a stray cat for about two years. Then I got suckered by a pretty face and ended up with Kiki.

8.35am FBG 5.6
We planted the fruit très and bushes yesterday.
Today I finished digging the extended bed for potatoes and actually planted them. Have about twenty left over. Same thing with the onions sets. I put in about 70 and still have half the bag left. We must have had shopping mania because am estimating the onion sets remaining to plant at about 200. And huge amount of garlic bulbs that apparently need special treatment to get them to grow.
How on earth will I find room for carrots, beans, peas, courgettes and tomatoes? Oh and salad, radish, beetroot and the several varieties of lettuce and other greens we usually have.

Quick sell the to a British supermarket.

I do live on the edge of a town between the town and the countryside which is why I get the benefits and problems of both.

Hence the stray cats I keep getting. You sound more in the countryside so I'm assuming they will be far less strays.

I hope Kiki's sterilization goes well.

Good morning everyone from the, so far, steady as you go, tomato land of plenty here in the dark and dangerous north. I even purchased a cucumber yesterday and it nearly made the local news until some kid pointed to a similar one in his mothers shopping trolly, in amongst the turkey twirlers and plant based oven chips. Once the SNP have got over themselves and elected another waste of space then they should turn their attention to supplying out of season fruit and veg aid to the home counties. May the peasants eat turnips. Art bit - some color added so now onto something else. Have the best Saturday that you can possibly have with your winter vegetable broth. I shall eke out another kofee but don’t tell the press.

Love your painting @dunelm

Drum roll - 5.9 this morning. Getting back to more normal for me blood sugars much faster than I thought I would. I don't think it will be so good tomorrow because dinner will be late tonight so I can't do a n 18hr fast.

Today there were hailstones and a rainbow on our morning walk. It was magical but absolutely freezing cold. Predictive text changed hailstones to gallstones - glad I spotted that one before posting.

More gardening planned today and cooking from Rick Stein fish and shellfish cookbook. Anchovies €8.75 for a small jar! Trop chér! Je j'achete pas. Found some others in a different supermarket. €2.45 same quantity. Was the glass jar really worth so much?
Tomatoes etc available, although not the plum variety that I wanted. Red peppers were huge so reduced quantity.
No seeds for Jerusalem artichokes in supermarket but spotted what I think is the French version of spring onions. Next year, we have enough onions already. Weather forecast dry for the next ten day As. MrSlim is on notification to bump repairing the well to a usable state up his list. There was water in it last year even when very hot and dry. Of course no idea how much water. Enough to water vegetables, I hope.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and Neanderthals who live amongst us.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.5, I think it was the threat of a swift clout with my carpentry hammer that frightened the meter into giving me that reading.

Now, not being a known pet lover more tolerator a “friend” suggested I watch a video of 3 Irish Ladies singing a song called “ Dogging “ they go under the name of Fascinating Aida. I though why would I want to watch a video of ladies singing about their dog?
Needless to say I don’t think I will attach a link to this thread even if I new how.

It’s time for my safety koffy and possibly a little more plinky plonky practice, but firstly wish you all the best for today, yesterday and tomorrow, time is fluid and not a fixed entity.
Yep the chemists have run out of normality pills again.

2.55 am - 8.7 but the one I am counting as FBG was at 7.45 - it was 10.2.
Just had the worst nosebleed in years. Not even sure it has settled down yet but I hope, if I keep sniffing, it will dry up. Slight panic when I took the last tissue out of the box because getting a new box would involve getting to the hall cupboard and bending down to a low shelf while holding a tissue to my nose. However, it more or less stopped with that last tissue. Must get the next box of tissues out in case it does start up again.

Our family could do with some of those normality pills, @alf_Josiah. Or maybe not - I think that, perhaps, we enjoy our oddities.

Hello everyone from the intermittent weather of Little America. One moment it is all Florida the next Hawaii. Currently Hawaii is winning but I shan't be acquiring a shirt. @dunelm a quite superb masterpiece so thanks for sharing. We will have to disagree on the last SNP leader but our last two - four actually - couldn't beat a one legged man in a bum kicking contest so best we keep very, very quiet imho - see attached. Still none of them has the minerals for one of these - especially the last two. @Annb hug for the nose bleed. Perhaps a phone call or e-consult if possible. JKP was seen promptly via our e-consult so there is hope. @Krystyna23040 wonderful news on the fbg. Onwards and downwards. No phone calls from MIL last night and No 1 son is in Bury St Edmunds for a car service so he will visit her today. In other news we acquired some mutton whilst in the local aspirational farm shop cum cafe. £2 for an Americano?? snap for trop cher @SlimLizzy but JKP valued the break. Rick Stein recipes should be amazing. We also came away with some Greek Passion Lamb which I was assured had meat, (above ground) veggies and herbs but no high carb ingredients - marinated in an oil based rosemary & thyme marinade allegedly. I'm increasingly starting to think no one has the faintest idea what makes a healthy diet they just peddle their own snake oil. I'm currently favouring the gut microbiome advocates. On that note I bid you adieu.

Thinking back to a topic a few days ago about mobile phones. Neil bought me a £10 voucher yesterday to put into my mobile phone but the instructions were too quiet for me to follow so I asked Alistair to do it for me today. He successfully put the money in - it was accepted - and then he was told that the SIM card had been deregistered again and I would have to get a new one! So now they have my money and are not giving me the service. Why could that message have been given before they accepted the money?

Question now is, do I get a new card, a new phone or just not bother and try to get in touch with the NHS website that sent me a code to access my account with them and see if they can use some other system to contact me and just forget about *!*!*! mobile phones?

Edit to add: I'm feeling peevish now and that's not like me. Spoiled my day, they have!

The *!'s above are partly due to sensibilities of the dear friends on this thread, partly due to prudish software, partly due to offended Moderators and partly because I don't actually know many sweary words and none actually come to mind when I need them.
