What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

BG at 2.30 am - 8.1 but by 5 am it was 10.9 and now it's 12.4. I have had one lot of pain killers and 3 cups of tea and will soon be taking some more pain killers - been trying to get things done this morning and my legs are giving out now. Solution - pain killers, ,pre tea. short break then breakfast before I carry on.

Worrying day yesterday - my friend's son, living in Shetland, saw a worrying item on Facebook. Another friend had put up a post saying that her 17 year old daughter had died! No details, just she was dead. So my friend hurried off, calling me from her car, to go to find the mother and offer her, at least a shoulder to cry on, and practical support, if we could. The mother is a single parent, having divorced a few years ago. She was nowhere to be found, so the next port of call was at the father's house in another village to try to find out what had happened. Nothing had happened. The daughter was fine.

The mother does have mental health issues and had, apparently, stopped taking her pills. She is obviously suffering from this omission and will be in need of help, but we don't know where she is. She could be at home and just not answering the door; she could have left the Island; she could be anywhere. With any luck she will be back in hospital on the mainland (our Mental Health Unit doesn't have in-patients if they can avoid it) and receiving the care she needs, but we just don't know. Worrying!

had lemon tea Hoping BG would drop but an hour later was up to 6.8 so chunk off geese and coffee with cream to hopefully halt the rise.
Beautiful sunny day but feels very cold, with wind from the northeast. Am feeling chilled even in the kitchen where thermometer informs me it is 17°C. Have decided to take a day off from working in the garden and am thinking of lighting the fire. Huddling up with a book feels very appealing at the moment. Soup for lunch? Really happy with 6.8 this morning. Hopefully this week will continue with the 6s.

Once fbs is consistently in the 5s I will be able to re-introduce the flaxseeds, berries and Greek yogurt. Hopefully it won't be too long a wait because I am so missing them.

Off to Norwich shortly for a busy day and evening of classes and 1:1s.

Temperature here is 2C (35.6 F the converter tells me)

I am still hugging my electric throw, and cat Midnight.

I did make a brief excursion outside when the temperature was -1C (30.2F) to feed the beasts, and quickly returned to my bed, but my tea flask has now run out...

Time to move...NOT...Mrs Bladder is still behaving herself...just...I shouldn't have mentioned her, she is now getting fidgety...

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those of a timid disposition, is our new prime minister, sorry I can’t remember his or her name, of a timid disposition, all will be revealed when the Northern Paddyland protocol is announced.

Blood sugars this morning were firstly a straight 8.0 then a different finger straight after 7.3 Previously I have described trying to understand diabetes as like trying to solve a simultaneous equation with an infinite numer of unknowns, quantum physics is far simpler. All me, me’s and myself have learnt is our blood sugars readings are a snap shot at that instant in time and not to get fixated on it. The HbA1c is a better guide, but nothing is perfect in an imperfect world.

Now being a mere male sitting on the sofa with legs up while Mrs J waves the vacuum cleaner around this could be my last posting for sometime, Mrs J is of Irish / Welsh extraction and has a well earned reputation of being quick with her fists, timid she is not. Now in modern speak it’s time I legged it…..

It would be no good telling a wildfowler stuck in mud that they are ok because only half the height of the tide on average would just reach their feet! :)

Morning all from a very sullen skied Little America. @Annb hug for the worry over the friend but also wonderful that there is a network of friends. I guess I'm an outlier in that friends aren't something I really understand or seem to need. Only family works for me - trust issues maybe? but growing up that really meant most people in surrounding villages. Later I did have and support (in context only) "team mates" either sporting or work. Brings me on to meters, nutrition and hydration for managing the variety of co-morbidities fellow posters have. Methinks the answer is as simple as - there is no answer and yesterday's answer isn't today's. @gennepher and @SlimLizzy hug for the chill factor. @gennepher thanks for the latest sheep creative and funny for the Mrs Badder quip. Not sure when we will be eating the mu**** - so hide my posts from Larry or Loretta Lamb. @dunelm safe journey especially with Mr Bladder. Thanks for sharing the gradually developing artwork. @Krystyna23040 good news on the bg control and splendid walk yesterday. @jjraak was this too harsh to send to my CFC supporting family? Today is a day to commemorate George Herbert hence Malcolm Guite's choice of poem. The little essay in Guite's book is wonderful as one would expect from a Cambridge man. C S Lewis was from The Other Place and he was also brilliant just to show I'm fair minded. Except I can never see past the other N London football team, post Disraeli Cons (quite visceral since Thatcher) and post GHWB GOP. I'm definitely a work in progress. Laters dudes.
