What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Didn't get up until 4.30 am today, so I think we can call the reading FBG. It was 9.4 but this time - NOT rising. It is (at 10.20) still 9.4.

Snow still hanging around here, but it thawed a bit yesterday and turned to ice last night so the roads might be bad today. Neil says he'll go to town for shopping but to be honest he looks dreadful. His blood pressure (which he has to keep an eye on) is a b it on the low side but he has taken a cup of coffee to try to bring it up a bit. That often works. He's at the stage of having to juggle with pills to try to keep his blood pressure stable. He is beginning to think that the yeast in his home made bread is causing him problems now. We'll have to look up recipes for unleavened bread to see if that helps. He can't just buy wraps or Naan bread because they have other ingredients which his system can't tolerate.

And Midnight did spend last night indoors - so you were right there!!!

Greetings on a snowy but not a Snow Day here in Little America. I slept until an unheard of 8.55 today . Amongst the welter of data from my Wednesday bloods random bg was 4.9 - taken at 9.20 but the caveat to allow up to +.5 applies. @lindisfel I hope the journey and appointment go safely with the bonus blessing of fish and chips. Loving the name of the provider. If anyone were almost on the same level as that lighthouse it would surely be you - the Lincolnshire Lighthouse :) @Krystyna23040 lovely story of your FIL despite the pain for you at the time. Two Beatles references in one post. @dunelm best wishes for the keep blowing, keep blowing routine. Thanks for the aforementioned lighthouse. @gennepher hug for the disappointment occasioned by #fallgate but thanks for the creative - the sheep looks as miserable as sin. Wonderful care for the wildlife in the face of personal adversity. @Annb hug for Neil but good news that your bg isn't rising. @RFSMarch fbgs looking good and hopefully you will land that client and manage those other targets. #1 grandson is off on a scout camp this weekend despite having just returned to school after illness. He just moved up from cubs so the force will be strong in that one. SSSF but it is anyone's guess as to the efficacy of that or any other dietary path one follows. On the semi-skimmed thread, dietary choices are likened to Russian Roulette and any positive impact on bg compared to pigs lined up on a runway ready for take off. With hand on heart I find it hard to gainsay that despite all the 5 amp boys (and all other self-identifications) coming on strong with their own patent solution for all known ills. Stay warm, safe and stay as mobile as possible - preferably indoors. Thoughts and prayers for the dead, injured, scared or grieving of Hamburg.

Yes, it did give him so much joy remembering how his bossy boots DiL came a cropper. It also gives me a lot of joy remembering how he.loved to remember it.

If the weather is keeping you indoors this, about that poet, may pass some time. Aberdaron is near where JKP’s father was born. No 1 son also went to Bangor University. If you are not interested no sweat people. I have a link to a fascinating longer talk on him if anyone PMs me - it is 90 mins though

Thank you for all your good wishes for our trip to Carlisle hospital Audiology.

It went amazingly well Marjorie was in the clinic for over an hour, got her ears checked and they replaced her single 9 year old-fashioned aid with two new ones.

They tested her ears and set up the two new aids to the test results to go home with.

I call that good service more than I expected I thought she would have to wait months like I did.

Haddock was very tasty and large and quite fresh.
The Northern fells looked stupendous with snow above 1200 feet. Across on the Pennines, Cross Fell was thick white.
the temperature was down from 6.0 deg C to +1.0 when we got home at 1820.
A successful day.

Lambing is a bit later here. The ewes can, apparently, hold off for a while when the weather is bad but not indefinitely obviously. Every so often we have what is known as "lambing snow" - the ewes hold off for so long that they just have to lamb whatever the weather and the lambs are born in the snow. Not the best outcome for them. They have to be tough to live in this climate.

Good morning everyone and welcome to another day of mystery here in the dark and dangerous north. It’s Farmers Market day - what tasty titbits will be on offer today for only every penny you possess. Fancy Scotch eggs from the Clucking Pig stall perhaps - low carb but not any of that ‘specialist’ Polish bread thanks very much. Some veg perhaps and maybe some Kimchi. It’s all locally produced but very cosmopolitan. Our garage now has a wall inside spitting 1/3 at the front from 2/3 at the rear where the French doors are. Insulation will begin this morning. Art bit, adding a touch of detail to the sparseness from yesterdays quick sketch. Have as ‘good as it gets’ day as you can. My koffy is now ready for a good slurp.

Lambing here depends on the elevation, up on the fells it is later.
Hope you are surviving the winter cold season well, the summer warmth is all too short.

I think you'll find, that the further north, the summer season IS snow you can see over . ;)


I too am hoping the northern brethren & those affected are coping as well as possible in the current cold snap .

We, ( as usual ) have had it much easier here, in the tropics of the UK.

Easy to forget how harsh others have it, sometimes .

Interesting about the lambing season.
 
6.6 this morning. Very pleased with another reading in the sixes. Yesterday readings were good also- especially as I only did 10K steps and spent a few hours sitting at the computer on the Zoom course. It was an excellent course.

Very snowy and frosty walk this morning. Coffee and then another Zoom course. Actually it will be a much more relaxing day than my normal Saturday.
 
Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those foot the ball commentators who are standing up for their rights or Wrights ( very nearly a pun ).

A 6.4 this morning, a number I can live with.

Today is an uncertainty, a pressure washer to fix, but water in the outside at these temperatures is possibly not a good mix, a mechanical globe to construct an indoor job, start moving my old hifi system ( arcam stuff ) into the dinning room from the garage, yes I have been given permission to do this. Mrs J is very keen on listening to light opera mixed with the likes of Black Sabbath and if Mrs J can find the hidden Motown and Jackson cd’s that yuk stuff. Oh choices to make.

First safety koffy, breakfast and medication.

Stay safe and warm all.
 
I got out of my Octavia yesterday afternoon in the hospital car park (which is a feat in itself for a stiff old long-pod in the narrow spaces) and there was a young Blackbird newly out of the nest making heck a racket calling for food from its mother.
It must have survived the cold nights and it seems surprisingly early the year but the car park is on a south facing slope and must be a bit of a microclimate.
