What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Looks like a great place to go and really important that the tea and coffee are good.

We love wagyu beef also. Today we had venison burgers which are also delicious.
 
2.45 am 10.9. 5 am 11.4 and rising. No identifiable reason for that, but is there ever? Yesterday was rather up and down in BG terms. Started fairly high - had to take a correction dose eventually to get it under control. Hours later BG dropped into a hypo despite efforts to keep it up a bit. Then bounced back to 12.9 before bed. Only one meal yesterday - early in the day - eggs, cauliflower, leeks and a couple of pork sausages (not particularly low carb - we can't get them here). It was a substantial meal though, so it didn't matter not having anything else. I do get hungry but I really can't be bothered to make a meal most of the time. Not worth the effort just for myself. That's one of the reasons I enjoy having visitors - it gives me someone to make food for.
 
Quite cold with condensation on the windows this am and temperature down to c.10 deg C.
But near freezing overnight.
A better day in prospect with blue skies visible, but it would be nice if someone could move the Jet Stream for a change and give us some summer. My old bones don't appreciate the cold or too much heat.

Watched a couple of interesting videos on the Shroud of Turin. Scientific study cannot yet explain how it was produced.
It looks like radiation from within the crucified man produced the negative of the body image on the cloth. Forensic analysis seems to refute claims it was a fake.

Good morning everyone from a luke warm and overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north. Bloods at 5.5 this am. A return trip of two halves. Up to Birmingham and a few hours with family in the sunshine. Then onwards to home in an excellent example of a torrential barrage of inundated dampness with an upgraded version of poor visibility. My car is now very clean on the outside and at home the garden is looking verdantly lush. Nice, as I was a tad worried about having new turf laid in July. But no. I shall shoehorn in some causation - lay turf in July - get wet all month. Art bit - some dry brush strokes on rice paper. Hope your day has at least one small ray of sunshine. Now, where is that loft?

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all sailed on the good ship Venus. No neither did me, me’s and myself.

Blood sugars this morning were a nice 5.7 .

Today’s subjects appear to be pharmacies and the Shroud of Turin.

Being a transplant patient my list of medications is long and some of the drugs are difficult to obtain and very expensive, I have 20 separate items on my batch prescription list. Managing that little lot can prove interesting.

I didn’t think fantasy and science fiction were approved reading for most, what a pleasant surprise of me, me’s and myself that others read read such works, my favourite authors are Issac Asimov and Terry Pratchett.

Well it is nearly time for my 10:30 constant cup of tea, as we all know the tea is the constant and the time the variable also I must depart here and head for pastures diffent.

I am a great fan of both authors have read everything they have published I also like Alastair Reynolds got hooked on his books after reading
Revelation Space. I also liked the world war series of books by Harry Turtledove.

My son is travelling up from Oxford today he's going to spend the week with us really looking forward to seeing him.

Fbg today was finger prick 5.1 and libre 4.8

Kitchen in a usable state now and looking good after Keiran's hard work.
 
Morning all from L.A. on a morning which I believe is elsewhere dubbed dreich. No amount of rain will ever make Breckland verdant but the dustbowl vibe has lessened for now. @lindisfel interesting programme about the TS what channel was it please? @Krystyna23040 nice fbg today must be the relaxing day and venison burgers. Ostrich burgers are quite widely available, Buffalo burgers not so much but are wonderful. The Buffalo and Bison steak are much harder to source,. We await a call from a farmer/butcher/croc meat producer in Cambs for their home reared Bison steak. The retired dairy beef needs experimentation and negotiation.. MIL prefers her beef to resemble something found at Pompei imho whereas I'm in the walk it through the kitchen and slap it on my plate hoofs 'n all camp. JKP has gradually drifted somewhat in my direction. Either steaks where all 3 of us can be accommodated or large pieces, (mucho ribs) ideally cooked <100c work best for me. That's the colour beef should be. As for medication the most important for me now are the chemo tablets which are either given to me on my drip trips or couriered to me direct from CUH. Anything else doesn't really impact me if I miss even a week or two. @dunelm shame about the weather on your return journey but good for turfing. Thanks for sharing another stunning artwork. Here, keto cinnamon doughnuts look like keto bagels - who knew? Quick sniff and a disaster daahling, a disaster was avoided. I prefer my beef fed on grass for most of its life and I don't like my stock being unhealthy fed on grain etc to get the beef so spangled with fat as Japanese meat is.
But some like their geese force fed grain to give them metabolic syndrome.
Fair enough in Japan they don't have much pasture with awesome wild areas.

Grass fed here in UK plc is something of an alternative truth or flexible definition.The "scallywags" who brought you the Big Red Bus of mendacous nonsense are hell bent on diluting the "green c***" in their war on common sense. Thursday's result has them beside themselves with nonsense - wrongly. Doesn't make much difference how it was reared if one cremates it imho. @JohnEGreen great news on the kitchen and Brother Aid? coming home/visiting.

5.6mmols this morning on a sunny with the odd cloud. Cold overnight, but spent some time in the garden tidying up. So much rain yesterday. I started roping wooden pallets together, with a couple of brushes, and a tarpaulin, a few boxes for sitting in!
My better half, thought I had cracked up.
After, her idea of being creative is cooking for the grandkids, and totally destroying the kitchen and the food!

I loved Harry Turtledoves WWII series. Still in paperback on my book shelves, plus his long series on the alternative U.S.civil war through to the 1950's. Also his take on the Pearl Harbour. His Shakespeare book. And also the book he wrote with Richard Dreyfus. The Two Georges.
Some of his later stuff, wasn't as good in my opinion! But his characterisations of people in general were really good!
I have read so much science fiction, what ifs, trek, and some of offbeat stuff, which is how I found Jodi Taylor.
Her last book in the series as with all are five star, and have sold over a million.

Might not be able to post tomorrow, out with the wife to her appointments, which should last most of the day.

Gonna get in the garden, grass needs another trim. All this rain is having the verdantcy of the leaf sprout quickestmost, that I have viewed this summertime season.

Just a thought for you @Annb
Dextrose, even the tiniest amounts in bacon, sausage, &/other stuff, can raise my blood sugars from my usual 6.something to 19.6+ and it takes a few hours to come down, and a I don't feel good until it comes down...
