What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from where it is a tad sub-optimal in the summer department but it is dry. Early morning bloods taken and spiffing Belgium buns acquired for the two other humans of the dwelling. Excellent cafe in the Hub where bloods are done, run by some near neighbours. The caramel shortbread was definitely giving me the come on. Today is the Feast of James the Great, Apostle so perhaps Moules and (Halloumi) frites should be in order. Camino de Santiago is OTT for me but @Krystyna23040 could probably fit it in during as lunch break:D. If you prefer to see your crocs etc before buying, a trip to Cambs could work. Order in advance and enjoy some splendid coffee. I haven't tried the sausage rolls but they are aspirational according to JKP. @alf_Josiah - Loretta - why be a slave to the outmoded binary ways, there are so many more ways to self define. Be young, be foolish, be woke. @Annb as our resident bakeologist would all almond flour work here - no sugar obs. I like lemon but that e stuff is hideous. I like the sound of the sauce but pork chops are a major no no afaic. @dunelm liking the iProd very much. Is the new structure included in the 40 hospitals - does resemble some in East Anglia. We too have a grandchildren schedule mapped out hence scoping out the aspirational facility. Moules, cake, croc or not enjoy today - Dean Martin, Jane Birkin, George Alagiah, Trevor Francis, Chris Bart-Williams and so many more - all once golden boys and girls recently gone. Have a song which is more upbeat.
The recipe that I have is all ground almonds, so it should be fine but my one does have sugar in it. That's one reason why I don't make it. The other reason is that I can't cope with almonds. Ratio of almonds to sugar should be one to one. Not sure how you will decide how much almond to use without any sugar. Maybe just leave it out and use the full weight of almonds plus flour. Good luck with that.

Just had a thought, maybe grinding up dates with the almonds might work to sweeten the cake a bit - not too many because they are, of course, carb heavy but they might boost the sweetness of the almonds.

I am currently experimenting with banana to sweeten baked goods for the T2 lady who eats oats and bananas. They only add a very little sweetness. If I could get hold of monkfruit I would try that, but it doesn't seem to be available very easily.

Thank you for the advice. One idea for sweetener is chicory inulin fibre syrup which works wonderfully in sweet and sour sauce.
Edit: Chicory obviously.

If the product suits you, that's great. I haven't tried inulin fibre but I no longer trust any artificial sweetener. I have had too many bad reactions - even to ones that are supposed to be naturally occurring - manufactured glucose, dextrose, malto-dextrin and so on. Oddly, the only one that doesn't affect me immediately is sucrose (which, of course, isn't good for T2).

All the talk if Sci Fi books reminded me of the very first book I ever borrowed from a Library when I was 10 years old it was called Peter and The Flying Saucers by Stephen Mogridge funny how these thing stick in your memory.

The kitchen saga continues Keiran decided that he didn't much like the kitchen cupboards we had so he is now in the process of replacing them if Adrian thought he had come for a rest he was sadly mistaken mind you he did bring some work clothes with him so he must have had an inkling.

Oh and we had a delivery this morning that we had no idea was coming it seems keiran had decided we needed a new larder fridge and had ordered one without telling us. Big shock big pleasant surprise rather overwhelming to be honest.

Thank you @ianpspurs. I am afraid that this old structure will stand in ruination for longer than even the whiff of a new hospitium arising like a damp squib close to the Fens. But get thee to Camulodunum to see where this wretched relic resides. Moules-frites, just the ticket.

What a smashing day of surprises. Keep supplying the tea!

What a wonderful surprise and richly deserved.

First 6.2, which is back on track!
Second, had to put long pants due to being a bit unsummery and cold. Sunny but cool breeze around the Thors stone. Had to find my old leather belt, chuffed for five minutes!
wife's assessment was an hour long and not very nice. Her memory is just not there! Repeating some sentenc e, from a minute or two ago, is misremembered. Not aware of date, month but got year right!
had a cuppa in the hospital, whilst waiting for taxi. Cheese on toast for her, best bit for ever, she said!
She asked me if I wanted a piece?
I said no thanks, and I think I have finally realised that correcting her, is now just a waste of time. Forgetfulness about my lactose intolerance, wheat intolerance, carb intolerance is something her misrememberitis can't cope with!
Next up to the surgery to see nurse for bloods and more questions that I couldn't answer on her behalf. These bloods were for it she has unusual proteins, which might be causing the brains function. Find out on Thursday with a doctor's appointment.
Third appointment with counselling, let her have privacy without me being in the room, interfering, interrupting, interjuxterpositioning, interning, interesting, international rescue!
Bunch of tissues later, I ordered our transport home!
Eventually, my beloved went to bed for a good sleep. I went and shopped, tidied and chores my way through the afternoon, and spent time ruminating in the late evening sun, still windy! No not me! The weather!
At least the lawn is cut, couldn't believe how much it's grown! Bloody rain!

Not much more to tell, my mind won't settle down for to read.
So I'm logging off and I hope y'all had a better day than I did!

Thanks for this opportunity to post this. Tomorrow is a better day!

I am looking forward to going to the private physio next week. I am hoping they can find out why when I stand or walk after 15 mins of being vertical I have so much pain in lower back/upper hip it vertically immobilises me.

Yesterday I walked down a couple of hundreds yards into our hamlet and it became very painful and it was only by leaning forward on the top of a farm gate supporting myself for 5 mins I was able to walk back home.

It is stopping me improving after the heart attack.
I took 2 gabapentin as had been suggested with no effect.
This has gone on for three years but has got a lot worse recently.

I keep hoping I will wake up and it's disappeared!
There is far worse at 84 why should I have a moan? :)
Have a great day all.
Derek

Rain all day again yesterday.
Butterflies appeared in the brief respites.
Icy cold wind.
An application form took me all day to do. The site broke down, stopped functioning, deleted my carefully filled in page, accepted my password then refused it saying a Capital letter had to be the first letter and a number had to be the last letter, then it refused to turn to the next page, and so on. Finally I reached the page where they wanted some scanned documents. Did the site play ball with me ? No...
It crashed when I tried to upload.
I get it up and running again, and can I find the scanned documents bit?
I am going through every detail in that form. After an age I finally find it. By 6 pm I am in bed physically and mentally exhausted.
I now have to wait 5 days to see if it is approved...

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those suffering, age is a privilege denied to many, buy, why, o why does it come with so many ailments etc. Oh for the body of a 20 year old, I shall ignore the comment, “but you already have one in the freezer”.

Blood sugars this morning were a 6.1

Today I have to travel into the centre of Reading for my music lesson, the lesson is fine, but it is school holiday time and this afternoon town will be full of young teenagers, doing what teenagers do, ah bless them, but more and much more annoyingly are the religious fanatics, singing hymns, trying to give me bits of paper and engage me in dialogue, every week this happens. Therefore to counter this I say “ May your God go with you”. They find this simple Dave Allen comment offensive.

On a slightly different topic I am finally making progress with this wood store I have been asked to make, pictures will be taken when it is completed. It has to be a modular construction for transportation purposes.

Now it is time to depart, fodder, medication, indoor rain cabinet and finally last minute plinky plonky practice call.

Stay safe all and don’t accost me in Reading.

Hug for all the hassle with that website but a winner for the creative. People who design these web forms don't make any effort to make them user friendly. In fact, I wonder if they actually run through them themselves to even try to see how well they work.

13.9 at 3.45. No idea why. Currently down to 11.4 after 3 cups of tea.

Yesterday I got my plastic covers for the bandages on my legs (at last) so I can have a shower this morning! Hurrah! I've been waiting for these covers to be prescribed for about 5 weeks (and unable to shower all that time) and had actually given up on them and ordered some from Amazon. Both arrived yesterday. It's like waiting for a bus.

Winner for another smashing piece of art but a hug for the frustration of web sites.

Greetings Pop Pickers, Finger prickers and Swipers here assembled. Stan, Stan the lab man gave a 4.1 for the sample taken at 8.40 a.m. yesterday - fasted since 750 mls Darjeeling with slices of lemon makes the cut - allegedly. Seems about right even adding the potential .5 for glucose degradation twixt sample and analysis. Whole bunch of other data seems okey-dokey so on we go to phone appt Friday. Very fast turn around and feedback thanks be to God. @Krystyna23040 hug for another busy day and yes, it is an interesting place which is on the list of places to take grandchildren this summer and hopefully acquire buffalo steak. #1 grandson loved it when we lived nearer. He slept over 3 nights per week for a while - a magical time and wonderful blessing. @alf_Josiah I hope the piano lessons go well. As the song says why is youth wasted on the young? Yes, evangelism needs to pick a time and place carefully. @gennepher hug for the website issues, hopefully today will be a better day for you. Winner for a breathtaking creative. @Lamont D hug for yesterday. Today is 5th birthdays for a granddaughter and her cousin has her's Monday. Both already one year into formal schooling which is good but means they take exams almost a year early. Moules ( Milky's halum) frites were exemplary and double as good food to celebrate the parents of the BVM - St Ann and St Joachim. l may do some lawning and prepare for Bazball, The Little Guy, his sister and 2 cousins tomorrow. :woot: Have a good day y'all

Good morning everyone from a strangely bright start here in the dark and dangerous north but another day when we don’t have to water the newly laid turf - hurrah! 5.3 this morning. Pal arrived last night after his flight was delayed a touch. Three monster hard shell suitcases. I thought that he was smuggling his family so that he could pay for his business class seat. But no, they are mainly empty so that he can fill them up with groceries that they either can’t get in California or they are very expensive (he is a Yorkshire lad). Art bit, moving along. Hope you have a smashing pre bin day. Best have some lofty.

Thank you.
I am fast coming to the conclusion they are designed to stop you actually accessing the services that you need @Annb
