What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

So, I have lost one stone in weight this year so far by simply not eating any processed carbs whatsoever. I have just promised myself the Dr Ph Martin's inks when I get down one more stone in weight. And by the way I can nearly fit into some lovely 30 year old jeans which I always saved in case I can fit in them again.
That is such a brilliant incentive @gennepher .

Morning all from a breezy but dry and sunny L.A. I have a scan later which clearly impacted my morning bp level so @Lamont D and others background stress will affect fbg. Let's hope the stress of winning an Ashes series, not drawing one, affects the Aussies. @Krystyna23040 enjoy Gooderstone which is closer to us than I thought. MIL would like it. Their website mentions sausage rolls and coffee (do they have pouring cream and ceylon cinnamon for coffee or Gaucamole ? - asking for a friend you understand :D ) so you and Mr K should be sorted for an afterwalk treat. @gennepher well done on the weight loss as a bonus from cutting out processed carbs. Thanks for sharing both creatives. The bottom one reminds me of my home village flood plain fen which sometimes froze over and was then used for fen skating championships. @lindisfel I gave a like for you being able to walk further and stand longer, your concern for others and despite sensible questions not falling into Atheism. Probably wise to be clear about the difference between Calvin and some Calvinists just as it is for Christ and some Christians @Annb I nearly gave a funny for the silk purse reference. You have plenty of opportunities to share your wonderful gift of baking and catering from the comfort of your own home. MIL was still using her car until 91 y.o. but JKP had been worried about that for some time. @JohnEGreen enjoy the meal, your A1c will be fine. Enjoy your day as much as possible.
I hope your scan went well - take care of yourself x

Thank you @ianpspurs. It has taken months to get my blood sugars lower.

What seems to be working is substituting collagen for whey protein because it looks like the whey protein is spiking my blood sugar.

Also losing weight is helping. My ideal weight is 9st 5lbs where normally blood sugars are fine and I really hate my weight going lower than that but have now dropped to 9 stone and will continue until I get to 8st 12lbs.

I suspect that I am a TOFI and the carb fest at Christmas deposited a load of fat around my pancreas which I have to remove before blood sugars go back to normal.

I don't want to look haggard and too thin but MrK swears that I don't. Am not 100% sure that I believe him.

Archie is doing really well on his librella injection and collagen peptides. He can even run upstairs again.
Apologies I am clueless here so ... I assume you eat the collagen and what food/s has collagen in it? (I did google this but I am none the wiser) and does collagen increase muscle mass do you know? x

Cat Merlin sits in front of Pa Badger who detours around Merlin...

Creative is ink painting with Hake brush...two versions...

I really really want some new inks. Nothing wrong with the FW inks. They are over 20 years old and still as good as the day I bought them. But I fancy some Dr Ph Martin's Radiant Concentrated WaterColour inks. I bought my daughter in Australia a set from the Australian site for her 50th. Imagine my surprise when I look on English Amazon, and they are double the price in the U.K. So, I have lost one stone in weight this year so far by simply not eating any processed carbs whatsoever. The sparrows are making one heck of a racket out there...

Have a good day.

A big well done on the weight loss - it is not easy x

I have started taking collagen peptides powder (20g) because as we get get older our bodies produce less collagen. Am definitely finding it is increasing muscle mass. I have tried bone broth, which is a good source of collagen, but I just don't like it.

I have persuaded Mr K to take it and he is really surprised at how it has increased his energy levels.

It has also healed our almost 17 year old Labrador Archie's gut lining and muscle strength and he is happy to go for a walk again.

@Krystyna23040 Well done on the weight loss - it is a lot easier to put it on than take it off. I am with you and really get what you are saying - my ideal weight is 9st 2llbs and that's when I have no pot belly at all and I have been 8st 13llbs when I had a very active job and I also agree with you that my pancreas worked a lot better at this weight and my BS were a lot better too - I am a stone heavier at the moment and you have made me think about trying to get if off again - I have thought about it for quite a while but that is all I have done ... good luck with your weight loss - I wish you well x

Another cold day in the North with temperatures around 15 Deg C at max. It is not good all week in forecast.

I was fortunate in a dry spell on Saturday pm a friend came and cut my grass like a worlwind!

I taking this heart monitor off in a few minutes then having to make a quick trip to Carlisle to take it back by 1015 to Carlisle Hospital.

I maybe 84 but but I know I have excellent eyesight now and I have no difficulty in driving anywhere in Cumbria. Those who drive like idiots on these back roads are young men and women. Women taking their kids to school and delivery drivers trying to read whilst driving and finish up hitting our old bridge over the river. I don't buy this about old drivers provided their mental and driving faculties are intact they are far more safe than the idiots who go round blind bends on the wrong side of the road. There are three (six) senior drivers in this hamlet, two with physical mobility issues when not driving. I can't remember any of them having a significant bump.
Rant over.

Sorry I forgot their wives in my rant!

Good morning everyone from yet another overcast start here in the dark and dangerous north. Missed lots of posts but was totally distracted by a fun packed weekend reunion but did manage to remember the small purchases for Mrs Miggins and our daughter in that tourist trap called Betty’s Tea Room. A blind member of our group told everyone that he hadn’t seen many of us for years. More grandparent duties today - gotta love school holidays, even three year olds jump on the bandwagon nowadays. Art bit, just a quick colour sketch from a photograph I saw but can’t remember when. Hope you all had a good weekend. Now where is that lovely koffy.

Morning all at the start of a four day childminding week which is like an innumerate football system 2442. Wet overnight so the front lawn resembles something one might recognise as such - until#1 son parks there tomorrow. @lindisfel I hope the journey goes well and the information provided is useful for both the consultants and yourself. Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday. That part went well and there was even coffee with cream for the journey home. @Krystyna23040 shame there is no cream or Ceylon cinnamon but have Nespresso mug will travel works for me. Thanks for the information about the collagen. I'm wary about the possible increase in calcium from some ingredients - more research needed by myself.* Have a great day. Moveit, Moveit time is fast approaching:woot::woot: - so could the end of Bazball:arghh:
* Appears to be the cheaper ones with too much seafood.

Looks quite Tibetan. You clearly had a good time at your reunion. Hope you have come back from it revived and ready to take on the world again. Not that you ever seem otherwise but such happy events keep us going.

Ma and Pa Badger enjoy some time without the kiddos!

Ma & Pa Badger without the kiddos in tow. Is that just frolicking or something more serious I am thinking. So I googled. Phew. badgers only have one litter of cubs in a year...thank goodness....

Creative is ink painting with Hake brush and water, and a second digital version.

Yesterday a Robin Redbreast made friends with me as I was in the garden. Midnight came along and sat on the other side of me. This morning, Robin Redbreast came to the fatball feeder near my open door, and then flew to my bedside table and looked at me. Cat Midnight was on my lap asleep. No food for you Robin, I told him.

I am not personally feeding him, as much as I would love to. Too many stray cats, but having said that, no cat has caught a bird in my garden in the last few years. The male (but not the female) blackbird lands next to Midnight on the swing and takes the cat biscuits while Midnight watches him.

Have a good day.

I need a coffee...
