What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good project. I am identifying as being 25 years old and half vegan, but only on Mondays and Wednesdays when that day begins with a 2 in the calendar (not the Julian one though).

The builders are here and have turned off the water for a while so that they can take out the oil boiler and put in a different chaped foundation for the air source heat exchanger. At the moment I can reach my desk and the laptop, but it will need to be moved soon so that they can get in to the radiator behind it (my winter foot warmer). Been up since 02:45 but didn't start doing much until about 04:00. Started slowly by making my bed and putting last night's washing into the tumble dryer and putting another load on to wash. Then started emptying the dish washer (hate that job, but not so much as actually hand washing dishes and pots) - does my back no good at all. No time to rest - we didn't manage to get all the boxes moved out of the way last night. We were both exhausted and decided to call it a day. Unfortunately, Neil didn't wake up until 07:00 so I was just doing what I could to clear space around my desk so that it can be moved when necessary. Had a break for breakfast (ssitting in my big chair beause the table is covered in boxes and box files.

It's going to be a fun few days.

It will be fine when it’s all completed and hopefully no calling back to fix mistakes. It will be interesting to hear what you think of the air source heat exchanger.

Slept on the couch last night.
Changing my bedding yesterday, but don't have the stamina or strength to complete it in one day,
So slept on couch.
Will finish that bed hopefully this afternoon...
Midnight was upset I wasn't in my bed, so he went on the swing all night.
I was a bit worried about him so I went out a few times, braved the wild beasts in that dark night, and sat next to him for a few minutes. He doesn't like change, he seems to associate it with something not good.

Creative is squiggly one line sketch of a woman crossing the side road where I park. Her feet are not that big, they just turned out that shape for me to draw her in time. She was walking quickly...


I was watching the magpie this morning, he has obviously got some babies, or he is feeding his better half on the nest, because he was stealing Jade's breakfast. The male blackbird was doing the same. Only he is nesting in the front garden, in among the Ivy and the cherry tree. I am watching him now, he is coming in and out of the nesting area.

Midnight has come in and he is sleeping round my neck. Fortunately I am sat down on the couch or else I would be the hunchback of Notre Dame.

I am ready for a nap before I start the day again...

Have your best kind of day...

Hug for being so tired you needed to sleep on the couch and braving the wildlife to check on Midnight. Thank you for sharing the latest sketch which probably should have earned a winner. I'm always amazed at the level of your observation and understanding of wildlife. Makes me feel guilty but I guess we all have different gifts.

Some chores can just wait their turn. My mother used to quote Quentin Crisp when they had the farm in Wales, ”There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse.” - but what did he know. Lots of movement in that sketch.

my eldest is 43, then 42, 39 and 38. All with birthdays this year.
Grandchildren, 23, 23, 18, 14, 13, 11, 7, 3. Again with birthdays this year.
Also no great grandkids yet!!!!!

And I have hinted.

In November 69, I was of an age, when using my pocket money for a loose cigarette or a bottle a bit stronger than the shandy on sale in the offy.I
Watching the younger kids collect bonny wood, and ready for the big night on the bombed sites, now just vacant sites all around our area. Plenty of them, don't forget, they bombed our chippy along with a lot of other shops and houses.
I was a little cherub at that age.
Honest.

We have the pavement outside being lifted this week. They are just up the road.

And I heard it this morning and now after reading your post, it is now an ear worm!
I wasn't into Elvis either, not the Beatles, the stones or any of the pop rubbish, and especially not country of western. I couldn't print my description of it.

Having another relaxing day, #5, #7, #8 had a really fun hour this morning whilst it actually wasn't raining.
It is now and fairly chilly. Outlook fairly decent from Thursday. Hoping.

The groundsman who looks after the footie pitches nearly sank his tractor (again) this morning. It is long but saturated. Never known it so wet. Even I know he shouldn't have attempted it.
And I had a laugh about it with him.
He knew I used to do the same work.
I can't stress how late in the year it is to be so wet.
Good thing the 21st pitch technology in stadia is very good at drainage.
Lovely artwork as per.

A nice bit of gammon for this evening whatever you want to call it!

The wind from the previous two days has moved on, birds are now flying in the right direction and garden furniture rescued and placed back in their designated spots. My brother was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon from the “ward of snoring” and reunited with his phone charger. Children back at school here today so grandparent duties have slowed. Art bit - wonder if it was the recent stormy weekend? Anyhow, it’s the first day of the long weekend for those of us who no longer toil for a shilling. Best have some koffy and get on with the day.

Mr K does really help me. I couldn't do what I do without his help.
My prayers were answered today when one of my clients forgot to attend. It was the last client before my break so it means l have a proper break before I start back at 5pm

My friend from long ago always used to say "as long as the straw is changed every so often, it's fine". Stan was a Director of Social Work of the town we used to live in and his wife was a nurse AND they had 3 children and a dog. Sometimes she used to feel that she hadn't done enough to keep the house spick and span, which was when he would come out with his "reassurance".

And why is the earthworm population declining?
My view is that it is the type of garden people have, and I am definitely talking about round here where I live @ianpspurs

There is nothing for the worms in neighbourhood gardens in my road.
Driveways and what was garden 20 years ago, is now completely covered in tarmac (next door is an example of that), or this printed paving(or whatever it is called) where the water just runs off and doesn't go into soil. And paving and whatever else which is nil maintenance. There is nowhere for the worms to live in a town garden round here.

I have two wormeries. The badgers haven't discovered the second one yet...it is well hidden, so far, and is covered in tulle/tutu netting. I can use a hand trowel anywhere in my garden, and dig up handfuls worms anywhere in my garden, at any time.

Last year, I didn't realise the significance of some of the videos I posted. When the two badger cubs were little, and just made an appearance, Ma & Pa Badger had them stay in one spot, which is virtually in front of the swing, and they were digging hour after hour for worms. There is an art in digging for worms for badgers, and they have to delicately pull the worm without breaking it. It is the patch of bare earth to the right of the path in front of the swing. I knew the little badgers were digging for worms, but I hadn't realised how much training Ma & Pa Badger were giving the little ones. I only posted fleeting shots the young badgers learning to dig for worms, because for video footage for someone to watch, it is not exciting...
