Creative...too tired to work on another painting, so it is a kaleidoscope today. This is of my new Chinese flask. It had a 16 page instruction booklet all in Chinese how to use it. It is different than the usual vacuum flask. It has this complicated system of several metal pieces which are the loose leaf tea stainer. I am just going to use it for herbal teas, and I'm testing it out now. I gave up translating and I thought well just use common sense....

I decided to go out first thing for some fresh vegetables. There is supposed to be more snow on the way. And it wasn't snowing first thing so I took a chance... halfway to the shop I am in a blizzard. I cannot see a thing, the windscreen wipers are working like mad, but I cannot see anything out of any of the other windows so I ended up having to open the driver and passenger side windows and of course within seconds I am a snowman and the inside of my car is covered in snow..... but I got my fresh vegetables. Selection was a bit poor but at least they were there.... hopefully these will see me to the weekend or just beyond...

Take care

Sweet dreams....

Brilliant.
we had a lot of snow overnight and everything in between.
it is snowing here now at 5pm.
I can't believe it didn't snow till this morning in N.Wales.
And it is freezing.is
keep warm and safe.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.
I dont think I could eat that many carbs.
Oh for a chip doorstep.
A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a roastie dinner.
I would promise you the earth, for a piece of strawberry cheesecake, black forest gateau. Christmas cake.
How about a full Indian meal.
or a Chinese fried rice, charsui.f
a nice icee cream sundae.

I can talk about missing all these now.
my health is so important to me.

I am glad of your results and you have more freedom to make your choice. And cos of this, well done.
Cos in the end, it is a choice.
And I can't agree, that keto is boring, you can make lots of different tastes, if you want.
How do you turn your nose up, at fried bacon, fried eggs, fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes?
Steak and onions with the obligatory mushrooms.

And Mrs L and myself, seem to enjoy what I come up with, a nice piece of haddock with a side salad tonight.
Tomorrow, could be chicken. I feel like chicken tonight!
Stay well my friend,
From that area, Turkey salad sounds good.

If bacon and haddock are a compulsory part of keto no sorcery could make me eat it. :playful: Sack off the bacon (urgently) turn the mushrooms and tomatoes with an avocado, cauliflower and broccoli into a soup and I'm in. That was my evening meal today, with a tsp of apple cider vinegar. There were obviously carbs but it was hot and had nutes and vits. Onions, surely very high carb? 8.6%. Enjoy your chicken - thigh is the only part worth eating though - and stay warm.

If greens are your idea of tastier food, there is something wrong with your taste buds. Yuk!
But won't it interesting how individual are palettes are?, how individual our dietary needs are? How bloody individually difficult it is to keep our sanity with our metabolism?
Whoever, dreamed of creating this hell of denying what we want to eat?
It can be so cruel.
Breast is best!
-1 out there now, snow is freezing.
Stay safe.

Hi all

Progress is ongoing on so many levels this week

The depression/anxiety/psychosis/ etc
Had me deferring far too many decisions, over the latter part of 2024.
( I know now why bears hibernate.)

New year, and....

Car fixed...(Still needs MOT )
Gym personal trainer ..sorted
Diabetic eye test ..(missed ) now tested and no T2D issues
A small pension cashed so money for India covered.
E-visa for India UK under way & expected completion this week

Did I mention we're off to goa ?

The goal since accident was...

Toilet by myself....done
Mobilise effectively......done-ish
Return to work (part time, but hey ) tick.
Begin life anew.... Optimistic but I try
Take a foreign holiday (lesbos ftw ). Done
And to complete the circle of my old life...
Return to India

So almost there ...almost

Pain clinic now accepting me, despite the previous attempts said I needed the mental side sorted first....not happening anytime soon, sadly

And eye hospital now deciding I'm lying

Follow up appointment messed around after eye op

Jan 2025 was the 8 week follow up from the July 24 op in their world
But they moved it to Oct 24......yippee

Then cancelled it.....boo

New year, new me ...
So I called, eventually got through to 'someone'.

I was a no show in October. ..mmhh
Text saying appointment cancelled, says I wasn't..how Erroneous musk of them

So now the next appointment will be April /May at best ....

Best scenario offered is I have to turn up at eye hospital at a&e as an emergency, so I can get an earlier appointment to conduct my 8 week post op follow up.....aagghh.

But (calm breathing, be calm. )
I have ticked off a lot of outstanding items, and even this is now being worked through on my 2025 Todo list as we speak .

Nightmare neighbour calm for now

Downstairs neighbours have returned and leak is fixed.

Did I mention she shared the love by attacking our neighbours on other sides door on new year's morning ....?

Police said call and she's a a priority, so they arrived in 5 minutes ...on new year's day....impressed

Sad others have to suffer, but I'm So glad to know I'm not alone dealing with psycho sue.

Overall lots of help incoming, physical, psychological & psychiatric help all inbound if not arrived already

2025, it's got a rosier glow that 2024 was sadly missing .

Onwards & upwards
To infinity & beyond

Best wishes for the year ahead all .

I do wish you all the best for this year mate @jjraak.
have heard great things about Goa. And it would not surprise me, that you might not want to come back!!!!
I do believe that every year has its good and more bad for every year we are here for.
things improve, things get worse, it goes in cycles.
It is how you accept it as happening, and your response.
You know you have to move on. And hope that it can be better soon.
Do what you can.
It does come down to...... It is what it is.
And treat it as such, acceptance with a plan to (which is always a good idea) move on to the next phase.

Being in limbo is not recommended.
I am trying to sort my year but it's not easy.
I don't know where it is taking me.
My ideal holiday is Greece but it ain't gonna happen.
Maybe something nearer with one of my lot.
We will see.

Every day is a test for my mental health.
But I am learning on the job.

My hopes and prayers are with you on your quests.
As always my bestest ever wishes.
Onwards and upwards.
Live long etc....

Just checking through the e-mails before I go to bed. I shouldn't because I'm feeling awful and should just give up but coming to the pc to shut it down, I saw that there were messages on the forum and couldn't resist. Tomorrow's another day - if I make it through the night. Maybe I've caught Alistair's lurgi! Night all.

I know I'm weird with carbs and such. But that also defies logic.
I'm so glad that I can achieve a state of zero carb, to aid my journey and lowering carbs is now, believe it or not, is now gaining medical backing in most modern thinking healthcare facilities.
I get not everyone can and there is a modicum of use for them. But someone with an imbalance in how glucose/ insulin impacts their levels of blood glucose. And is not recommended. But believing it does can help with the state of mind, when knowing otherwise is detrimental.
I can only imagine, how you are approaching your diabetes care, but as it is, a minor thing, in your recovery.
I will leave it there.
But there will come a time, and your homeostasis needs a looking after.
Maybe, just maybe, things may change.
You are aware, that the majority of people take quite a number of years to become prediabetic, and a few more to be T2. And I know from experience, that if I don't behave myself with my BG levels, then, I will become ill and that is not where I want to be.
Look after yourself, and watch those carbs, nasty things they are!
Latest figures from Canada, around 20% are or have become intolerant to the new strains of wheat grown there.
Of which we do import as well.
Bold letters on all products with wheat is not for gluten only.I
I don't have gluten intolerance, I have wheat intolerance. And of course, a wide range of glucose and carb intolerance.
This is what RH is all about.
Will this Article be of interest - note, it is produced by a low carb food company. I get my flour from them and find it works pretty good for me.

A great deal of progress made and a trip to Goa will be good medicine I think. Pain clinic - hope it helps. I have in the past had to relearn how to walk twice - once in my early 20’s and then in my late 30’s - work related. I did attend a 3 week residential plain course a couple of years ago and it was the greatest benefit of all my treatments - I now walk without a stick (fold up one at the ready). Problem with pain is that it’s subjective and yet medics still ask the question, “on a scale of 1 to 5, how painful is it?” Take care.

Good morning everyone on a cold and silent start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. A whimsical change of direction on our usual long walk yesterday which takes in the lower prom. So, coming up from sea level through the woods is like climbing the west face of the Eiger compared to coming up our usual and more gentle ascend. Came up through the Victorian valley gardens in the middle of the woods as there are steps with hand rails - and more steps, and more steps …..Total of 6 miles, then an early night which is probably why I was up at just before 6am. So, took advantage of the hour to do some reading. Mrs Miggins tells me that she is going on a bedding hunt this morning with her twin sister (is there a sale on somewhere?). Also, they are going to the library, the location here that deals with applications to join the bus pass club - I know, they are mere spring chickens and no, I did not imitate Jerry Lee Lewis  :nailbiting:. Art bit - trees, again. Hope your day is as pleasant as you can make it. How is it going up in the wilds @lindisfel? Must make koffy and consolidate a list of chores to ignore.

I gave an agree, for the pain ratio question.

If your not in any pain it's zero, right

Most days (1-10)
I tell them I run at 3, occasionally 4

(Not constant pain, but repeated pain throughout every day)

Which to my mind paints a decent enough picture of "it's annoying, wearing & spoiling my peaceful enjoyment of daily life "

Pain that causes more than a short pause in movement or draws a more ango Saxon version of OUCH is more the 6-8 bracket

Which only leaves 2 levels for childbirth or an amputation ... :hilarious:

So as you say, very subjective.

This morning journey into work was a 6.
A new pain, a solid ache of the thigh muscle above knee, knee feeling loose and about to twist with each step putting pressure on it ...aagghh

Doing the Stop - start - dhuffle, I got here and it's now eased back into "be careful, do not mess with me" mode

So meh, hard to translate that to a therapist on days it's not happening.

But the rest of the post was very helpful

Yes, inconsistent and very unhelpful . Do we now need yet another log book? Ah, now I know why I have so far saved the top end of the scale - childbirth!
