Fbg 6.1 today.
3 degrees but, a blue sky and sunshine to start my birthday off.
Was a bit concerned as two out of the last three birthdays I’ve spent in hospital so today I’m hoping history does not repeat itself.
Happy birthday mate.

Hi @Madfarmerswife
Sorry to hear about work issues for reasonable adjustments only to have them taken away. Can the union help in this?

It helps so much having brighter longer days!

Take care
Thanks @gennepher I've had a good conversation with my union rep this evening. There will be answers this week!!

I've been missing in action for a few days, battling really low mood due to issues at work. Hoping to get things sorted this week - they can't make reasonable adjustments and then just take them away!

Fbg was 8.4 this morning, and I've been in target (5.5 to 9.9) for the past 3 days! Think I've found the sweet spot for insulin dosage and timing.

I've been catching up and I'm loving all the art bits! Really wishing I had the time for creative pursuits...

I'm grateful for it being daylight for driving to and from work. Soon I'll be able to enjoy lighter evenings too.

Hope everyone has a calm and non-stressful day.

Happy birthday @JohnEGreen
I had similar at work .

Sometimes it's just the person above you opinion.

I found teaching up to higher echelons & HR made them take more notice & react in a more reasonable way.

And agree on the increased day light making life more enjoyable.

Best of luck sorting the issues at work into a plan that suits you all

Which is surely better than a valued member of the team being driven into taking sick time unnecessarily
when better management of the known situation removes that potential disruption to the smooth flow & efficiency of useful production.

Thanks @jjraak

Another person who "gets it" - sometimes I think I must be speaking in tongues, because others don't seem to understand at all. And it's really annoying when a manager who wasn't present at the event says, "I'm not sure what you were told, but that isn't what was meant." I'm not sure how many ways I can interpret the instruction, "That trolley is only to be used for files." (Occ Health said "items" not just files.) And I've since been told I can't use it at all.

Very productive phone call with union rep after work yesterday. She is drafting an email for HR if I don't get the required response today.

Fbg was 11.5 this morning. This is the result of a supper of (delicious) cake and custard. In my defence, I was thinking more of Mr MFW's blood sugar than mine - he shouldn't eat the whole thing himself!

Right, must get on. Work are taking me out this morning to be assessed for a rollator. I want to go to the office first to make sure I'm "on the clock".

6.8 this morning.
Last night on my return from evening classes in Norwich I did the most important job of the week - descaling my Nespresso machine. It refused to make any more coffee until it is descaled so it had to be done.

Actually I am a bit tired this morning. Is it my age or is it the puppy exhausting me. Or most probably is a combination of the two.

I did read a quote last week - I think from Mark Twain, which, if I remember correctly, goes: "Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many". Which is so true.

That has just reminded me - descaled for kettle. I once had a very fancy machine that ground and made all manner of drinks - a present from my wife and with the holy 9 bar pressure. Once it needed descaling, the chimp in my brain decided upon caustic soda so that was the end of that. I now use a cafetière - a double skinned stainless steel one so that the chimp doesn’t get me into trouble - well, in that regard at least!

Good morning everyone on a deliciously quiet yet drizzly start to what is commonly termed “Wednesday” - after one of the children in The Adams Family.
5.6 this a.m. and the sun was shining brightly when I go up - maybe it will return, or not.
Smashing day yesterday. Mrs Miggins took The Girl In The Bubble swimming. Then after lunch we did a bit of painting after which she trundled along on her bike with grandparents trying to keep up. Gaining confidence but still reliant upon stabilisers.
I walked into town and back while the swimming took place. A tiny little woman hunched over a stroller trying to cross the road so I stopped the traffic and escorted her over. She informed me that there was a lot of wind to which I replied, “I have a friend with the same issue”. - Look on her face - priceless!
Art bit - just a load of Paynes Grey.
Hope your day contains more smooth paths than bumpy ones. I shall make my koffy and write out a shopping list.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and everybody who has a birthday, published or not.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.6 after a run of blood sugars in the mid to low 7s. It’s a strange phenomenon the way medication and diet interact, but one or all of me’s battle away.

The joys of oversleeping on a very wet and warmish day are wonderful especially when one is retired are not to be overlooked.
I am sitting here slurping loudly my freshly ground bowel cleansing koffy, while pondering life, the universe and the subtleties of how to spell subtleties and other such words……Drat somebody is at the door……
After a koffy and chat they have left along with my chain of thought. So I had better go and clear up the kitchen instead.

Stay safe, stay dry, if possible.

10.9 at 05.30 today. I know what I did to cause that but I'm not going to confess to anyone.
My own fault and I might not do it again.

Bright sunshine here today and, sadly, I've had to close the blind behind my desk so that I can see what I'm doing. The window faces directly into the morning sun. It was fine when we built the house but then there was no desk under that window. Now there is and there's nowhere else it can go.

Very, very thirsty at present - already had 11/2 bowls of veg broth and 4 cups of tea but am desperate for another cup. However, I took my iron pill 20 minutes ago and can't have anything else just yet. :p (Tongue hanging out, not sticking out tongue.) I think I have another cold coming on - that's probably why - might also have something to do with the abnormally high BG.

All my old Gilbert and Sullivan recordings are on videos, which I was hoping to get transferred onto DVD, but can't find anyone to do it for me so have decided to take the plunge and get some DVD. Ordered the first collection from Amazon and am just waiting for them to come. The video ones were D'oyly Carte recordings but not sure who has recorded the ones I've ordered. Maybe just an updated version of the same ones, with any luck. I know it's not serious music, but I have always enjoyed G & S. Cheers me up no end despite the pathetic plots.

Progress on the work issues... A rollator has been selected. It now just needs to be paid for and that seems to be another nightmare in the making, and we're back to, "why can't we buy one online?"

The issue seems to be that it is "unsuitable" to use a trolley as a walking aid (short-term and temporarily), but not the other way round apparently. Can anyone explain that?

If it all works out, and I get on with it, I may consider buying one for myself. (If I don't end up paying for the work one, in which case that will be mine.)

Also one of my lovely colleagues has offered to be my runner this afternoon.

Hope everyone's day is going ok.

Three cheers for G&S
You’re exceedingly polite,
And I think it only right
To return the compliment.
edit - this was for @Annb but my chimp escaped

All sounds barking mad as well as people thinking that they ought to have a say in what is such a simple process. My mother has a rollator with a basket just under the seat bit and uses it when shopping and carrying stuff round the house - had it for about 10 years and never once had an accident even on the cobbled streets or over the little foot bridge over the river where she lives.

7.1 this morning, rained overnight, but brisk wind, sunshine and cloudy now.
Mrs L is having a bed day. Sigh.
Went to footie last night . Sigh.
Babysitting this morning. #8 ratbag and footie. Sigh but funny.
Shopping with #8. Sigh
Bakers with #8 and a cake of course. Sigh.

Phoned doctors, made arrangements with mental health doctor to get another visit soon.
All results from her recent tests has been sent to the specialist Mrs L was at the beginning of last year.
Awaiting phone calls from other various sources, so things are moving slowly.

My best wishes.

I bought Mrs L a three wheeler rollator off Amazon for around £80.
The one from the council was a four wheeler, but too wide for the house.

The 4 wheeled ones are not really meant for inside the house - doorways here are too narrow - but they are very stable and can carry a fair amount of stuff around. Mine was supplied by the physio department at the hospital. Inside the house I use a zimmer type of thing with 2 wheels and 2 other legs with a carrying bag attached to it.

I bet that really got you into trouble. :) :)
