OMG!
Being an old fart I shouldn't, say that....!
Whatever!
Went with Mrs L to town and Specsavers and wow!
Did not know, I was so deaf, it's like I can actually hear things again, wow!
My ears are so itchy!
Mrs L picked up some nice confectionery and more clothing. Nearly bought a huge gammon for Boxing day. I managed to remind her again it was not chrimbo yet!

Unfortunately, while I was doing the five s's, or morning eblutions. Mrs L has destroyed my/our shed, looking for something, that doesn't exist for her rollator, a basket.

Gonna undo what Mrs L has done.

And another wow for the ribs, I have just devoured from the roast place near Specsavers.

Best wishes, wow you lot.
Ears still itchy.

I had a message from the surgery this evening by a no reply text

"Dear Ms ******

Please contact the surgery on 01244 ***** there is a message to relay to you in your Journal
kind regards reception team
********** Surgery"

It makes no difference how many times over the years I tell them I'm deaf and I cannot hear on the telephone. I have written it down for them. I have even discussed it with the practice manager. So I am unable to text them back and also there is no email available for the patient anymore. There used to be about seven or eight years ago and then it was just withdrawn... and I have no idea what my Journal is... what on earth is a Journal at a Doctors surgery...

I have a couple of appointments I have to see to this week and so I won't be going in to see the Surgery's reception staff until next Monday.

I actually made it very clear to the last nurse I saw not to send me Noreply texts and that I need a text I can reply to, and also not to ask or expect me to use the telephone... and I reminded her that I have an email address and can she access it from my files?

On that note, I am now going to sleep... I have been on my chi machine again, and Midnight immediately jumped on my legs and is lying there with his back legs waving in the air, in time with the machine waving my legs to and fro... he is utterly relaxed and chilled out.

10.9 still at 04.25 today. Very sore. Patches still no use at all. Painkillers and tea as well as basal insulin. Eventually dozed in the chair and BG was 11.4 when I woke properly again at 07.40.

I guess this not taking Metformin isn't working so have taken some with the rest of my morning pills. Might take a day or so before it has an effect, but we shall see.

Neil and I unloaded the dishwasher yesterday evening only to find that dishes were not very clean so I put them back on this morning to rinse again. Most of the dishes were clean after that, but some glasses were still not very good, so Neil decided to check the filter and - no wonder dishes weren't being cleaned properly - found a bit of an earring, which I vaguely remember from somewhere, though it wasn't mine, and lots of detritus. Next load is on and, with luck, it will be clean this time.

I still had some paint left over from the day before, that's why it's all the blues again...

I was in my building society today.... it's only open a few days a week... and she was trying to persuade me that I would find it much easier if I changed my bank and bank with them because then I could do directly with a person.... and they were dedicating themselves to stay in all the High Streets....

. So I said to her., well last year you could only promise to stay in the High St until 2026 and you quite severely cut( your opening hours. Why should I be interested in banking with you?

Oh we will give you £175 she said if you bank with this and will make sure it goes smoothly with everything. That's not much good only till 2026 I said...no she said we are guaranteed to be in the high street until 2028 and it will probably be for longer than that...

Thank you, I said, but I've got completely sorted now my bank and I'm banking online. So you were with the bank next door weren't you but it's all closed down, now. You find it much easier with being deaf dealing with a real person. She was using every trick in her book and get me to bank with them.....

A year ago, when my bank closed down, I would've taken her up on that offer, but I have worked out a system now, and I have learnt to bank online. This is all two little too late.

Oh well...

Night night from me...

7.10am FBG 6.6 comfort eating after a stressful day. Any day that includes discussion of arrangements for Christmas is stressful.
Had two cups of lemon tea but sitting not pottering about as nothing really needs doing yet.

Better eat something.

Good morning everyone on the latest episode of double dip bin day here in the dark and dangerous north.

5.4 this a.m.

Temperature is dropping this week, I can see the vapour rising from central heating vents.

Mrs Miggins had her first full on hour of physio on her wrist yesterday, including some paraffin wax treatment. Then 40 minutes of exercises and manipulation - ouch! Quite painful and the physio recommended using heat for the pain. So, does anyone use heated gloves and if so, are they effective.

Art bit - a triptych using coloured inks. Quite small. Gathering ideas for something bigger.

I hope that you are all as well as you can be. I must put koffy on the shopping list.

You were quite right not to be swayed to change bank. Thank you for the splendid art - blue is the colour (per @jjraak). Puts me in mind of this song - lyrics

@dunelm
These are not heated gloves, but they provide warmth and I use these...

I use these heated pads
There are lots of different ones, and you can get them from Poundland, if you can find a Poundland...but I don't advise them for Mrs Miggins.. I say a bit more in a couple of paragraphs down from this ..

i use these real sheepskin wrist warmers, very expensive, but they do really keep your hands warm and you have your fingers free to do what you want to do
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lambland-Premium-Sheepskin-Weather-Fingerless/dp/B0BSR4V811

I also use variations of these... so easy to wash and dry...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fingerless-Touchscreen-Mittens-Thicken-Adjustable/dp/B08FY4BD4N

https://www.amazon.co.uk/JK-Home-Fingerless-Thermal-Warmers/dp/B0DMSQJDBB

Now, I would say be very careful with the heated pads, because you cannot control the heat and it can be uncomfortable and Mrs Miggins could burn herself... I ended up taking them out of my hands and popping them in my pockets...
And I would be concerned with the hands because they might not have proper feeling back in them yet, and to place the hands on those heated pads or put them in gloves, that might be the reason why Mrs Miggins could burn herself.

I have other variations of stuff to heat my hands, some cashmere gloves, and others. I would just be careful with any direct heat.

I also have this, heated electric pad,
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Automatic-Switch-Off-Temperature-Technology/dp/B07YJBJSHV
The timer I use is 45 mins. I use it in bed on top of me, and I rest my hands on top of it or pop them underneath it. If I'm heating my hands at night, this is quite useful., and I never turn it any higher than number one or two.... you have to be careful with your hands you don't want to make them too hot...

I hope this is some help...

I use orthopaedic gloves for outside and inners when it's really freezing. Gotta keep your hands toastie.

6.5 at a very early time this morning.
Mrs L woke up, to get me to unlock front door for the carer, at 6am!
Was very noisy and asked for a morning cuppa.
Is the doctor coming early this evening. As it's six o'clock in the evening, the door needs unlocking?
What time is the carer due?
Do you want to go across to the shop?
So I got up and headed down to the kitchen in the dark and cold. Back up and Mrs L was getting her pjs on so Mrs L was decent for the carer and wobbly around the bedroom.
Again with similar questions!
The carer arrived at 10.30, a bit of an hour late.
I had already done the morning meds.
The carer did the washing of Mrs L and disappeared quite quickly.
A late breakfast for Mrs L.
A nap for Mrs L, while I did the necessary chores, just so glad it wasn't a busy ish day.
A cool day. Around 10-12 degrees at best.
I'm just knackered.
Might be back later.........???
Best wishes.

9.5 at 02.20 today. Only about an hour's sleep despite latish painkillers and pain relief patch.
Back to taking Metformin to try to keep BG under better control again.

Slipped down to 4.5 while I was at the Health Centre for leg wrapping, but didn't drop too low. Once again, the GP had failed to request the nurse to do blood tests, so I had to ask the Receptionist to remind her for next week.

Shattered, so I've done little other than sleep for the rest of the day so far. Just doing this to get myself to wake up properly.

This family history stuff is getting either full of coincidences or just wrong. Two of my grandmother's family lines lead back to the same people. Coincidence, but it could be right because they were recorded families from the same area. Now I have come across my grandfather's line, from Kent/Sussex which seems to lead back to that same Gloucestershire family. Coincidence? Nah - just wrong somewhere but I can't identify where. Records aren't so extensive for way back when. Irritating.
