The relocation of kitchen supplies has created yet another issue. The drawer unit has partially collapsed due to "overloading." Any ideas where to store food products? And crockery ? Am thinking we probably need to completely redesign the kitchen. Without using the conventional flat pack furniture which has proved to be insufficient for the task. What a waste of money and time it has been.
Old fashioned, free standing kitchen cupboards are useful but not always easily available in Britain - don't know about France. Our kitchen, in the past had "pre-loved", re-designed wardrobes and sideboards. Unfortunately, we moved the kitchen from one end of the house to the other and put in fitted IKEA wardrobes, which are OK, but not as good as the ones we got rid of.

Pre-loved, meaning they were 3rd or 4th hand.

Good morning all.Hope you are all keeping warm and well. Five degrees outside this morning---a veritable heatwave compared to the last few days! Friday's group walk through the woods was quite a challenge due to lots of ice. Nothing planned for today so 'hoping to stay warm indoors and rest my aching muscles and sore feet. LOL Here's a night time picture of Freddy fox dashing through our garden. Best wishes to all. :)

This was my original idea, but somehow succumbed to Ikea etc flimsy kitchen units. Also had double sink, not really neccessary but fitted perfectly into window reveal - looks great but we could have used the space better. Maybe even used the unit I gave away because i wanted drawers and it would not be easy to fit into the kitchen. How short sighted that was. (Although it went to some people who really needed it, so i don't regret that. Drawer bases made of hardboard won't take any weight. If we do stay here any length of time I can see a kitchen remodel happening.

Actually, now I come to think of it, Neil still has a couple of the wardrobes. He has a kitchen (never used), living room and bedroom of his own at one end of our house and one of our old kitchen wardrobes is in his kitchen, along with an old, glass fronted bookcase which he has fixed on the wall (for crockery and glassware). He has revised another re-designed wardrobe and it is now a wardrobe again. Those old pieces of furniture are solid, mostly oak, and versatile. He has another glass doored cabinet which in one of its past lives, before we had it, was the top of a full length cupboard unit, also filled with crockery and glass - most of the crockery and pretty well all of the glass is mine but I have nowhere to store it. He has put that unit on his living room wall with a space underneath it for his piano (lots of supporting woodwork needed there - it's one heavy cabinet).

Good happy and warm, I hope, fellow posters and painters.

Our 9 year old grandson is playing some sort of game with Mrs J and is using words like negatory, millisecond, if only I knew what those words meant or could spell them. Ok, of course I know what a millisecond is, or have the Americans messed around with that like they did with the word billion?
Now I’m heading for the paper dictionary.

6.2 this morning. A really relaxing day today, which I definitely needed.
Mr K is in less pain now. His operation is only a week and a half away and the more the swelling and inflammation goes down the less invasive the op will be.
Glad that Mr K is less pain and here's hoping that the swelling reduces sufficiently for the op to be less invasive. Fingers crossed.

Fbg for sunday 7.6

Grumpy cat, because I left him all day.

I had a hospital appointment today..And so I was out today. The diabetic retinopathy had found some problems in my eyes., and so I was referred to this appointment,

But they found nothing wrong...

They said they did not need to see me again.

When I got home, I went to sleep, and when I woke up, there was a hospital appointment for me on the NHS app. It came through at 1 pm today. And it was requesting my attendance for the appointment that was that the same details as my appointment today and they were going to send me a letter in a few days time, This is screwy...

Going back to sleep zzzzzzz
Will catch up with comments later....

Horrible day, wonderful piece of art, thank you for sharing. Was the fish good? Hold on to the small wins in life. Your life so often sounds the epitome of the infamous Mike Tyson quote. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Life is what happens while we are busy pretending our plans matter diddly squat. No, I don't believe as flies to wanton boys are we to the Gods, they kill us for their sport but a healthy dose of Cnut like realisation of our inability to control the world is a useful tool in Narnia :D Y'all have a great Saturday, I'm organising a Wake for Ashes Down Under 2025/6. Several elite young athletes will need very careful handling of their mental health by better people than I sense are currently doing the job. Yes, I care - far too many Lions being led by Donkeys over the past 2 decades in all walks of life.
Thank you Ian. Yes the fish was good. @ianpspurs

I'm fed up with Amazon! Since I can't get into shops in Stornoway without great difficulty (for Neil) I don't do any shopping there myself and when I want something that Neil can't select for me, I go to Amazon. Usually it works pretty well, I have to admit but this time, I ordered a few things, including a pack of 6 rather nice looking Christmas cards. The box arrived today (badly packed and falling apart) with the pack of Christmas cards in it, with other things, but they were the wrong cards.

They were rubbish cards that I never would have chosen to insult the children in my family with. I went to the returns page of the Amazon site to get the cards replaced with the ones I had ordered but there was no option on their digital help page for what I wanted and trying to find alternative options I went round and round in circles to the same pages, over and over again. I wanted to get at least a chat line (AI) but there seems to be no option whatever to make an individual link for a specific problem.

I ended up re-ordering the cards that I do want, which will now come later than I had hoped - that's if the right ones are sent this time, and will just throw these others away. It's only £7 something or other, so not the end of the world, but it is so annoying/frustrating. Then a little questionnaire came up asking for a rating for how likely I would be to recommend Amazon to friends or family! You can guess my reply. Not that anyone will read it.

I know it's only Christmas cards, but it's the poor service that bothers me, not the actual goods.

You guys are the first of those to whom I will not be recommending Amazon in future. I'll have to try to find an alternative supplier.
Sorry it took me so long to get back... I have recently just gone through a horrendous time with Amazon. I collected what was supposed to be five winter shirts from Amazon. When I opened the parcel two shirts were missing. None of Amazon's automated press buttons in their menu catered for this.. And I went round and round in circles. You think you were going to chat with someone but then it took you back round in circles again.
I asked ChatGPT for help. I call him a he... He came up with various addresses online that people had used to get hold of Amazon in these difficulties... I tried the first one, there was no acknowledgement. I and no reply. I tried the second one and I got an acknowledgement but it said this address was not used anymore for us poor Amazon customers to get hold of them. I tried the third address, and this one I got a response to. CHATGPT advised me to send everything in the email. The fact that I was disabled the fact that I was deaf. The fact that I cannot hear on the phone anything. He advised I send as many screenshots as I could either of the order or something or the fact that you were going around in circus etc. and your case, you're right about the condition of your parcel, how that affected you etc etc. The complete inconvenience it put you to. How it made you felt...anything... For ID, all you need to write is from the email address that you receive your order notifications from and your account name. Nothing else is needed for that. You need to write your order number, tracking number, whatever you have...
And you need to write the resolution you want at this point of time... I assume the resolution you want is your money back... Make sure you are very clear
Here is the address, and once I'd written to them it was sorted. My money was refunded a couple of days later.

Here is the address

A stunning painting @gennepher. Have only just read your post about the phone call from your surgery. I do hope you are ok now.
Thank you very much @Krystyna23040
I am still not okay from that phone call from the surgery, I'm still trying to deal with it, because it was a traumatic episode when Apple did that to me in 2019. At the moment I have a piece of faradaycloth and I find that that actually stops anything coming into my phone, so each time I go out my phone is set for what I need it for. Let's say collecting my parcels. Put it in my bag and then when I get to the post office to collect my parcels, they think I am crackers... But it Shields any signal of coming through into my phone and my phone is already set for collecting my parcels... Then I wrap it again and put it in my bag again... I don't use it for anything else while I'm out... But I'm still anxious about it but nothing can come through now while I am driving...

7.9 by the time I got through to the kitchen at 03.20 today. 8.9 sitting on the edge of my bed before that.

Recycling and compost bin day today. Neil went out about 07.00 to put them out for collection. While he was at it, he tried to start up my grandson's car which is parked in our entrance (it is officially off the road for now). It wouldn't start a couple of days ago so Neil put it on charge but it still isn't going. B will have to see what's wrong with it. Perhaps the battery should have been removed while it was sat there, I don't know.

Thank you for that Gennepher. I'll give it a go.

He's one substantial looking cat. I'm surprised that Midnight let him into his domain.
Yes me too @Annb
But Orlando is ingratiating himself in Midnight's presence.. he is not using force to stay but just sitting next to Midnight. The two can sit very quietly for a couple of hours at a time... Orlando has just taken to going on top of the garage roof just like Midnight used to do when he was trying to ingratiate himself in the same way when there was a lot of other cats here. He won in the end.
This cat has been living in my garden, Orlando that is, for the last few weeks and he doesn't go anywhere else. So I have no idea why he has not got a home now...
