What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

What I had at the pot-luck supper was mushroom risotto. That was because what I also had was a hypo so asked for anything carbohydrate to get my BG to rise a bit. The risotto was very good, as I had hoped it would be. BG still didn't rise after about 2 tablespoonsfull of risotto so I dug my emergency digestive biscuit out of my bag. Between them they did the job and it reversed the drop. Trouble then, of course, was that it went too far the other way and topped out in the 11's, at which point I took some insulin and it started to come back down. Down to 9.8 now. Does eating carbs make anyone else very hungry? It does me. I am starving but will just have to put up with it because I don't dare have anything else tonight.

As expected, by the time I got in I was completely shattered and fell asleep in the big chair for a couple of hours. It was only when I woke up that I took painkillers - about an hour ago so I'm hoping to get some sleep tonight under the influence of them.

The only photo I took today...for creativity...

I thought I had taken some other photos, when I came to look just now this is the only one, otherwise it's my untidy bedroom which I have not yet finished ...... And there's no time left to do a painting...

I was tired when I got back from picking up medicines and various other stuff and some shopping, that I fell asleep for the rest of the day...

Night night from me

This looks a really cosy space.

Good morning all from a very bright L.A. on St Lucy's day 2025. I don't know my fbg to share. @Lamont D hugs for the hospitalisation of Mrs L, your own issues with the bugs circulating and white goods breaking down. @gennepher hugs for how tiring collecting meds and shopping makes you. @alf_Josiah hugs for all the medical visits but well done for retaining your humour through all this. I remember you saying radiotherapy left you feeling tired, I understand now. In my case it has also made my sacrum worse, at least for now, besides a few other issues. Have a song, work of art and a poem since it is (still) Advent so, despite our issues, now but not yet is an honest summary of where we are at.

5.7 this morning.

Mr K did his first dog walk since becoming ill at the end of September. We didn't go far, but it was so lovely to start getting back to normal. Bonnie was really happy also.

My replacement card arrived. It is a different design from my other card. The number on the card is so much easier to read than my cancelled card, which was almost impossible to decipher.

This made updating the card with various companies much easier.

I also decided put a screen lock on all my devices for extra safety. It is a bit annoying but my daughter says that I will get used to it.

Evening, more issues with electric lights this morning, a set of chrimbo lights went in bin.
Mrs L is having a quiet day.
Gammon for late dinner, back from the footie this afternoon.
#2 grandson birthday today. Spoke to him on phone this morning, having a day out in yorkieland.
Spring bulbs abundantly growing in gardens now, with the warmer weather these past few weeks and lots of rain.
Take care you lot, best wishes.

Fbg oh dear that will have to remain a mystery...

A circular kaleidoscope image on a black background. An eight-pointed star fills the circle, made from layered teal and dark green shapes with soft, glowing edges. At the centre is a small white star with warm brown accents. Between the star points are repeated reflections of pale stone and yellow-green plants, creating a symmetrical, radiating pattern.
I created the star by holding a silver foil food tray to the camera lens...

This will be the ALT description when I post this on BlueSky

Night night
Bedtime for me...

6.1 at 04.00 today.

DIL's last remaining dog, Hugo the Basset hound, is on his last legs. He can't walk because his hind legs won't support him and either Alistair or Em's brother has to carry him outside when he needs to go out and then carry him back in again. He is a big old dog and weighs a lot. Clearly, this is not doing Alistair any good. The local vet can't do anything for him - it's something to do with a probable lesion on his spinal cord. An £8 - 10,000 operation on the mainland might be able to help but hauling such an old dog all that way and putting him through surgery seems too cruel (and more than they can afford) and so, Monday will be his last day. It's so sad for the poor old boy, but at least he's not in any obvious pain and his last years were happy ones, after a hard life as a stud male in poor conditions.

You are right @Annb - putting Hugo through a huge surgery like that at his age is cruel and highly likely he wouldn't survive it. He is a lucky dog, he spent his last years with people he loves.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those that played hopscotch in their more agile years.
My blood sugars are mine, but high enough to share around, how the hospital would be pleased.
Mrs J must be ill because I have been allowed to cook this evenings meal, under massive supervision. Questions such as why are you? are never far away.
I’m solving the problem, an Indian takeaway for me, Mrs J can sort herself out.
On the radio “highway to hell” by AC/DC is playing, most apt I think.
I wish you all well and I hope your day is kind.

And, possibly more to the point, people who love him. He has spent these last few years being one of the most pampered dogs you could come across. He deserved it after his past. I gather that Basset hounds do suffer from back problems with their relatively long backs and generally large weight.

I apologise for many reasons trying to update what is going on.
Mrs L three times in hospital in five weeks, never mind I'm still not rid of the dreaded lurgy myself.
Aacho!
Another bout of pneumonia followed early this week by the discovery of a small clot on her lungs
This time this could be the underlying cause of the infections.
So blood thinners and more anti biotics.
And Mrs L is having a really good day today.
But I like a lot of us out there not so good a week bad my footie team getting a great result tuesday, not that I watched it, cos of Mrs L being in the slammer again.
First our fridge freezer broke, ordered another, a freezer arrived, not that we knew until we opened it.
Tried to return it, and they didn't take it, when new fridge freezer eventually arrived. They still wouldn't take it, but the old fridge was taken away. Toaster broke, yeah it was me this time!
Arrived today, a really nice four slice toaster for Mrs L 's teacakes.
Is my PC is playing up. It is another item for the electronics junkyard.
Scaffolding gone, roof is fixed, no leaks detected ...... Yet!
So finally finished with the front garden lights etc.
Mrs L is not happy, and informed me so, that Xmas is not for her. However, the Christmas orders are always being described and in my to do list.... Or else!
By the way the hospital was brilliant despite the serious amount of patients waiting to be seen. The flu epidemic is well and truly here. As one of the specialist said. There is a lot of it about! Very professional statement that.
Gotta go, tea to cook, Mrs L has an appetite again.
My best wishes, keep warm, safe and dry.
Nice to hear from you.carry on carrying on.Best wishes to you both.take care.x

I hope today was a happy birthday for your grandson.
Yes he did thanks.
His mum said it was good to see him smile, the prospect of a new job on the horizon as well.
Some good news.
The regular carer who looks after Mrs L is not with us till after chrimbo, left a prezzie for Mrs L.
Which was very thoughtful and kind.
What a start to the darts. And the wasp!
it was nice not to have to make the phone calls.
so many in the morning again. I wouldn't like to think how Mrs L would survive without the help that she gets now..
need to get to my pit, always tired with this two weeks snotty nose!
My best wishes to you lot as always. Keep dry.

Agree with your daughter .

I think it's like curtains.

If you're happy to show the world inside your home, don't be surprised when people look in

Want the choice to CHOOSE who see what you think is important and private.

Fit curtains .

Only a fool leaves any device open for anyone to look through unhindered once they pick it up .
