2 hour meeting at mum's with a specialist dementia/ end of life care nurse so maybe that affected my levels?

OH,, @dogslife ..that must have been so stressful...
you should really both OFF the scale with all that amount of stress.

been there with my mum.(RiP, God bless her)

Was also dealing with dad having terminal cancer, and if i am honest i think looking after dad was LESS stressful, as i still felt i could DO something, make him comfortable, spend time chatting, just watch a movie and chilling out in silence, simply enjoying each others company.

Not so with mum, she didn't even know who i was, bless, just that i was someone important, judging by her beaming smiles..

As you know..the understanding. i suppose consciousness of the world around her had almost disappeared completely, not sure where your mum is at conscious wise,, but i hope she's at peace inside herself with her surroundings..<pray>

My mum seemed to be, i think.
always humming and tapping to some music in her head, when she wasn't sleeping
( OR laughing with the lovely carers at her home.)

I was heading for burn out and i knew it... full time work,.. up to see dad,...make tea see him right for the evening, ...then off to see mum, ...then home,.. sleep and repeat.. for 9 years.
.
BEST thing i did was take ONE day off each week..I made arrangements to cover, and that ONE day was mine..
Maybe do the same ?

Don't let the guilt trip you up.
With respect , you are NO good to ANYONE
If YOU are not HEALTHY and able.

Best wishes for the warmth and love of the time left with mum.

The numbers you're quoting are the same as I'm running now. Diagnosed in March and to start with I did get my morning FBG in the 5's, but I was fasting like a madman. Now I'm happy that my day running figures are between 5-6.
Hi there! I'll continue to manage my food intake and make sure that I exercise/training at least 3 times per week, monitor the BG levels, and see how it goes. I was diagnosed with T2 at end of October 2018, by the time I got my bearings right - ref dietary - I didn't really begin to manage properly until 2 weeks later, perhaps are early days yet, perhaps it is what it is. We'll see how it goes. Thank you for your support, and thank you for sharing your experiences! All the best. Theo

over selling.... oh so many things are enthusiastically oversold
The advice from Home Health (Codefree) was never store strips in a bathroom. The humidity is all wrong. Just saying .....[/QUOTE
Hi Bluetit ... Thanks for your thoughts but hey ...Our bathroom is east facing with a vent which at times creates fridge like conditions. Our shower room is downstairs .... have a great day

Morning all, - well its still just morning and I feel like this is a confessional this morning as I've slept in. Of late I've been waking at 4.30am and starting my days at 6 so a lie in was a surprise. My attempts at finding a reading this morning gave me figures of 9, ( cant be right I thought, try again..), 5.7, ( Yea thats about right, but better test again just in case.) 6.6, ( what the .... ), (6.4 , this is beginning to hurt.) So take your pick....
............................................. About a year ago I bought a massive amount of strips for the meter, the bathroom shelf was so packed out with them that it looked like I was stockpiling for an unforeseen event . ( A premonition of Brexit maybe?).... ...........Today I am on my last pot. Maybe thats why the readings are odd, who knows,? ...not me .... My new brand of meter is smaller, apparently gives better readings but the strips costs more.... I'll finish off these dozen or so strips for the "old" meter over the festive period and start the new year with new ways....Have a great day all.... The postman just reminded me its getting to look a lot like Xmas...
I was actually contemplating this morning, buying one of those arm patches and a scanner, or downloading the free app that they are offering, on my phone and see how that works. Have you ever looked into that? Cheers! Theo

Thank you so much for your kind and understanding words, jjraak. They brought tears to my eyes. Sounds like you did your very best for both your parents. I admire that you did all this while you were working. Mum is still in her own home at the moment but after caring for her myself for a long time after dad passed away ( No other family except my wonderful and helpful husband) I now have carers in to help since her diagnosis of Alzheimers. Thankfully I am now retired and live near to mum so can visit often and still do all I can every day. Sadly mum isn't at peace as she knows something is wrong but cannot understand what is happening to her. Her memory is fleetingly short and she is anxious and confused a lot of the time. It is truly an awful condition. The worst thing is knowing that no matter what I do I cannot make mum better. The nurse's visit yesterday just reinforced that feeling. We just continue to do our best and help her enjoy things in the moment even though she cannot remember them afterwards. Thanks again.

Good morning, peeps and pups (especially Banger) and kitties.
6.5 on this dark and rainy Thursday morning. I'm happy with the # if not the probable reasons for it (bread with my roast beef at supper, following a cookie and a red velvet cupcake at the choral concert yesterday).

Thank You @dogslife , the pleasure back then was all mine after the years they spent looking after me as a child.

You have my admiration for taking on such an arduous task, sound like you have a good man by your side. bless him.

The life is NOT easy, so do take care of yourself as well, please, its too easy to forget.

Mum went through a similar cycle, which i'm sad to say only got worse until we could no longer cope..Aggressive, abusive language, all from a good god fearing woman.
( some of the obscenities, could have been scenes straight out of the Exorcist.)

However once properly diagnosed and settled in the Home (x2), mum settled down tremendously..
(perhaps more chemical cosh then treatment, but she seemed more settled and happier)

i Don't regret that decision, life at home for everyone was becoming untenable, caused dad to have one major heart attack, which is when we decided, we had no other option.

I pray your journey is less fraught, but sadly i'd advise bracing yourself.

You sound strong, so you may not need them, but i'm sending prayers anyway...never hurts.

Take care, my friend.

I certainly would welcome better , unbiased , accurate data, for me its a motivation...its only the money that puts me off. If you dont have that concern it may well be worth it.

Hi @Roulis you will more than likely improve your morning readings in time dawn phenomenon can stick around for a while. Think for a long while my morning reading was way higher than othersand still is my highest reading generally. It’s early days for you you just need to keep going you’re doing remarkably well in what is, after all, just a few months since diagnosis well done you.
